"Thank you," Avalissa smiled warmly in response before Mikail returned his attention to the dinner he was preparing. She closed her eyes as she concentrated on listening to his smooth, rich voice humming a tune. The Captain would have enjoyed listening to Mikail reading the Directives of the Imperial Fleet for an hour, which would be a wonderful lullaby. No... his singing would be better, she thought, not having taken her eyes off of the handsome Russian for a minute.

After a few minutes passed, Mikail faced Avalissa with a wooden spoon in his hand, offering her a taste of the gourmet cooking. Once she stepped closer to him, Avalissa's hand grasped Mikial's hand as she raised the spoon to her lips and sampled the sauce. "Your culinary skills are magnificent... although I would recommend adding more... pepper," she mischievously grinned, moving her other hand as if to reach for the pepper shaker. However, instead of the pepper, it reached up to lightly press upon Mikail's lips before the Russian could object. "I am only jesting, Mika. I would not dare to spoil the meal... it is already perfect."

For a moment the Captain of the Infernalis Corps was mildly concerned. As much as he loved Lissa, he was not about to let her add anything to their dinner. The alarm must have shown in his eyes, because she chuckled and shook her head, revealing her joke. Relief and mild amusement colored his thoughts. At times she could seem so serious, but then again, she was always surprising him with some small joke or comment of some sort. "Of course it's perfect. I made it." Mikail muttered, feigning annoyance, but giving her one of his flirtatious smirks.

Returning to the stove top, Mikail finished with the shrimp and set the noodles to boil. With most of the meal on the run, he moved to the wine and popped the cork."Care for a glass?" he asked, giving her his most gentlemanly look.

Joachim swept through the door sweating and with his feet feeling like lead. His son raced by him, nearly knocking him over to check his mail on the computer terminal. He had met a couple of their own race one day when they were planetside and they had been keeping in touch ever since. Janai was the oldest of their children still living with them, he was 17 years old now, still a child really, but in the eyes of the Imperial fleet he was almost a man grown. He sighed and sat by his husband, who looked relieved for his return as he handed off their youngest child's squirming form, pressing a well meaning kiss to his cheek.

He had just been sparring with Janai, as he had requested that he teach him the old ways. Unlike his older brother and sister who had both followed paths with the Imperial Fleet, Janai had dreams of a home planet he had never seen and a race of warriors just like him. He was happy for the boy, and he reminded him of himself when he was his age. Though he was growing to be a lot larger and with more energy like his mother. He wasn't easy to keep up with. When Janai was done with his reply to his friends, he sat in front of Joachim, requesting he braid his hair. He shrugged at Harahj and handed back their daughter, leaving him once more with two bundles of joy. "Make me look like Arajhem the conqueror, Nata." If he wasn't in deep before he was now, Janai always knew just when to bring out the pet names, even if it didn't really suit him now that he had grown up.

He took the silvery strands of his son's hair and began weaving the intricate designs across his scalp, "Your horns are coming in nicely," He mentioned offhandedly, making his son preen.

"Mum gave me a salve for them, she says it makes them grow strong, just like the antlers of the Balgrosh from her homeland."

"Well, it's obviously working then," He said with mock impressiveness. He had never actually seen a Balgrosh in the flesh, his wife, Yori, was from the other side of the Earth that he had been born on, but she spoke of riding them frequently.

As he thought on this, his wife came through the door to their shared quarters, her imposing frame barely fitting through. She tossed her gloves to the side and smiled at her husbands. She had just got off of work and was eager to see her babies, as she made grabby hands to her very relieved Harahj, who gave her their nine year old daughter. "The perimeter was re-established on my run, so you won't have to do it for a while. It was a quiet shift, though I saw the Crydaar girl out and about on my way back so be vigilant," She said with a cheerful wink. Unlike their husband who worked in Sciences, they were both on Security and made a very good tag team. He nodded back as he finished up the braidwork, adding a few beads here and there.

"Off you go my little warrior." He directed, patting his much taller son's shoulder. His son ran off and Joachim stood up to speak with his spouses before he went on shift. "He'll probably be ready for another round at the gym in the next hour or so, and you can keep up with him better than I can." he mentioned to his wife. She smiled back at him and brought both of them in for a tight hug, pressing their foreheads together in the customary sign of affection for their kind.

Many of the crew had been perplexed at their relationship, and it confused him at first, as it was all he ever knew on his planet. But he figured it was just as strange as he saw couples who were only two, or males of other species who could not bear children. After a while, people got used to things.

He gave his spouses a kiss each and set to changing into his uniform. He had had gotten better at wearing shirts over the years, but they still felt uncomfortable and he would go without them whenever he could. He waved to his family once more before exiting into the corridors to go to his shift. He passed by all manner of crew without incident, as many of the higher ranking officers were either off duty or holed up wherever they needed to be at this point. He almost passed by Ivanov's medical bay but gears turned in his mind, remembering his husband telling him to see the doctor earlier for their child who had caught something. He checked his data organizer and saw he had ten minutes before his shift officially started, and decided to drop in sooner rather than later.

Upon entering he saw Ivanov was preoccupied, finishing up with a patient. Admiral Crydaar's daughter. Joachim stood out of the way of the door or an worker's way and waited for Ganya to be finished.

Eirian gave a small smile to Ganya as the door opened again. She turned and noted Joachim arrive. Her smile widened. She liked him too.... "Hiya Joe." Eirian beamed, cocking her head to one side. He'd been one of the few to understand anything she said the first time she arrived...without using a textbook. Likely because he was a parent. Yet he never tried to replace her father, so, it was nice to have him about. She liked his kids too..."I'll see you later for the weekly 'depressed child' therapy Petty Officer Ivanov." Eirian gave a small wave and slipped out the door. Before it could be shut, she popped her head into the room and gave Sen a wide, amused smile. "See ya around Sen."

Turning on her heel, Eirian sighed. She needed to speak with Reinhalt about stopping on the next planet. Everyone else might be able to live on a ship for months on end, but she was still getting used to it. And, she needed to get some things for her father's upcoming birthday. It was a big deal on Eluthian, major in fact. So major he was being sent from the war zone to home. And she, of course, was not going to be there to see him.

Stopping at the current Captain's rooms, she caught the scent of delicious cooking and smirked. Mikail again. The first night she had come, Reinhalt had the Infernalis leader cook. It had been delicious, and he had given her a rather frightening threat about telling anyone. Well, she must have great timing, because it meant this was one on one time for Avalissa and Mikail. Part of her felt like leaving...the other part decided now was the time to interrupt because otherwise she'd have to ask afterwards...her patience sucked.

Sighing, she sipped her top up a little more and knocked politely. Avalissa probably thought it was someone else, usually Eirian just walked in...

"Hello, Kossith, what seems to be the problem?" She had been working on learning about his race; they hadn't been in her fundamental training, nor her experience. She was a little nervous as to treatment, but Ivanov felt that she could probably handle it.

The officer gave a little wave to Eirian as she passed by. The girl caused trouble, particularly around his officers but nothing that really bothered him that much. He had survived far worse than bored teenagers in his time.

Ivanov caught his attention once more, drawing him out of his thoughts now that she was done with Crydaar. "Ah yes. Harahj mentioned that our little one, Den, has contracted something. You'll probably remember her from last year when you gave her vaccinations. She's better now, tired and nauseous, but yesterday she had a fever. Normal temperature for us is 130 degrees Fahrenheit and she was at 139. Quenya are generally hardy people but babies are often vulnerable. I don't know if we should bring her in today or simply wait it out." He spoke in a rough baritone but it was definitely laced with concern. She hadn't looked very well when he had held her today, "You obviously know what sort of illnesses have been circulating better than anyone else."

Leya sat with her legs over the side of her bed and face buried in her hands. She took a deep breath and let out an equally long sigh. Her jaws tightened, she moved onto lying on her side. Her eyes stared before her at the nightstand where a strange-looking machine rested. It was a small machine that closely resembled a psionic waveform indoctrinator from her home universe, except that there were three "towers" and they glowed blue. It was a safer, miniature version of the real thing. Attached to it was a hose ending with an oxygen mask. Right by the machine was a gray canister which appeared to be tough, thick, and about as big as the machine, and had an electronic lock fixed around the top. From the top was another hose with an oxygen mask at its end.

Leya almost cringed as she stared at the canister. Damn, it was so tempting... She couldn't help herself; she reached for the mask attached to the canister and strapped it on. She sat up to punch in a number code on the keypad fixed on top of it. The machine made a soft whirring noise and a few seconds later, a gas was flowing through the hose. Leya took a slow, deep breath of the terrazine. It soothed her body, but at the same time, her mind became more active. It wasn't that she had racing thoughts; no, her senses had merely become more sensitive. That was, of course, the purpose of the terrazine- to enhance psionic ability. However, this effect was short lived. It had gotten to a point for her where it would power up her abilities for no longer than a few moments. That didn't halt the addiction that came with it, though. She tried her best, tried to be careful, but it became really difficult at times, especially with the stress of being unable to return to her home universe. At least the thought of its extreme rarity kept her from using it that often. She had a very limited supply, as it seemed terrazine could not be found anywhere in this universe.

It was a couple minutes later that she pressed a key to stop the canister from emitting the precious gas. She took in the last of it that remained in the hose then replaced the mask with the other mask attached to the PWI. Soon after she started up the machine, she was breathing in terrazine once more, but it was different this time. Accompanying the gas were frequencies being emitted from the machine caused by the jorium crystals embedded within. The rare mineral was meant to stabilize the terrazine. She always made sure to power up this machine after she inhaled terrazine alone. All the better to keep her sane. Leya knew of the side effects, though it had been long since she had experienced any severe side effects- or withdrawals.

A minute passed and she shut down the machine, finishing off the treatment. She took the mask off then got up and moved to the bathroom where she might clear her lungs with fresher air. She sniffed long and hard; there didn't seem to be any terrible scent on her, so it was safe for her to walk around. She sighed and exited the bathroom, taking her jacket off the coat hanger. Right before she left, she turned and shot a glance back into the dark room at the shadowy shapes of the machine and canister on her nightstand. With a frown, she opened the door and departed, slipping her jacket on as she walked. It wasn't that it was chilly, but somehow it made her feel more secure, as though with it she could disguise the hideous flaw that was her addiction, although no one knew of it. Leya had carefully refrained from mentioning it, fearing that she might not have been allowed onto the ship or permitted to join the Infernalis Canis Corps. She ran a hand through her hair as she walked onward; everything would be okay...

The approach of another person interrupted his thoughts, which were quickly turning into awful memories. He met her with his normal expression of flinty indifference. She looked worried. Curiosity roused its self, but Hanwulver reminded himself that it probably wasn't any of his business. But, it is your job to look into things that aren't your business... And so the internal debate began.
"Greetings, miss." His cool monotone gave away nothing.

Leya was caught up in her thoughts but she was brought back to reality at the sound of a stranger's voice. She looked to him and was sure she had seen this guy around the ship before. She stopped before him and smiled. "Hello there." As she stood there, she looked him over and noted the string of bones. While it may have crept out most, it actually made Leya smile a bit. Perhaps they had the same mindset; maybe he was superstitious too. "Interesting necklace," she said, switching her gaze from the necklace to his face. She reached a hand up to pull a sapphire necklace out of her shirt and clutched it gently for a brief moment, then let her hands slide into her jean pockets.

"Yours is quite nice." He commented blandly. He wouldn't say that the assortment of bones was the only relic of his life on Tanu that he had decided to keep. No call to go back to that topic. "What are you called?" He looked her up and down, summarizing her figure for himself. "I am Hanwulver, David."

Manai moved through the halls with a measured step, carrying herself with a dignity one would expect from a high ranking officer. One thing, however, was off from the woman's usual stance; her right hand was stuck deep in the pocket of her pants. Silent, she turned into a familiar hallway and quickly entered the Medical Bay. With a curt nod to everyone in the room, Manai focused her attention to the head medical personell. "Miss Ivanov, may I have a moment of your time...?" Almost casually, the Ergonian drew her hand from her pocket and held it up. The middle finger on the mechanical limb was sticking up defiantly while the rest seemed content to remain curled into her palm.

Sen's attention was split when another person entered the room. Doing his usual, split-second analysis, he got a name. Manai Trander.
"Has she done something wrong?" He was confused by the conflicting emotions portrayed. The calmness of her manner was befuddling. He shortly overrode the confusion, noting the hand its self.
"That is similar to my own construction." He muttered, more to himself than anyone else, and walked closer.
"This is very interesting." He said, making the decision to violate social norms, taking her hand in order to examine it closer.
"There appears to be a malfunction." He noted the slight, but significant, displacement of what was taking the place of a particular muscle. It was one of the smaller ones, but obviously was causing issues, likely not the mechanical aspect. "It might now be repaired." He tweaked it, and took a step back. He wasn't sure if that was the only issue, but his calculations resulted in a high certainty.
