My fandom is Bones. And Gundam Wing. xd
I heart Gundam Wing, but left the fandom YEARS ago due to disturbing amounts of misogyny. Has it changed any?

My corner doesn't have misogyny. I can't speak for the rest. You like fic? I link you fic.
I think I love you. heart

The only online fandom I've participated in is that of Forever Knight. stare Now, the show is exceptionally campy and very dated now (still love it though!), and the fandom was awesome (it is much reduced now). They had incredibly cool yearly "Wars" in which all the active fans organized themselves into Factions based on their favorite characters or concepts from the show, and then participated in a two-week long INTENSE round-robin writing experience, where each member was a character in the FK universe, who attempted to play pranks and outdo the other factions. It was truly a blast. Each year had a premise. My favorite one was when a Rift in the Space Time Continuum let in alternate forms of all the characters, which allowed for hilarious and bizarre plots -- and some very touching ones as well.

I was in one of those with my best friend! We kidnapped someone at our college and left her mostly nekkid and tied up in Toronto! And kidnapped her boyfriend and sent him around the planet in a box. She bribed us with chocolate (REAL chocolate - as in box of) the next time the war came around. And the head of the Mercenaries got pissed because we called ourselves the Alfred Mercenaries and turned the FBI onto us, but we had already left for Toronto so I wrote this hysterical Scully & Mulder go to Alfred, NY episode where there are aliens impersonating us. We then kidnapped the head of the Mercenaries (he'd been arrested and put in jail; we "bailed him out") and did a Monty Python Routine (NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!) which ended with endless "I like traffic lights" until Vachon lost it and dropped the Mercenary head off on a street corner.

...It was fun. ^^

I'm still working on Sky of Dust and Artificial life. I also recommend everyone else at the archive, but Windsor Blue and Anne are two of my favorites.

Oh my gods, that's AWESOME. I totally remember that entire thing!!

I was one of the Heads of Cerberus (Cousinly leaders). I've been kidnapped and mugged and tortured in Toronto so many times -- that city is just not safe. It got so that I refused to walk alone at night, or enter any alleys. Some of the kidnappings involved togas and Hellenic ritual and virgin sacrifices. One time I got kidnapped by someone who'd been bumped on their head and thought they were Caligula (that was nasty). Another time, it was Vachon on a burro. Or was that the NunkAnon Christmas Fic? I don't remember. *lol*

I love how it comes across when people are talking about "What happened in the War."

Merc: "Oh, remember that time you were in jail and we broke you out using silly putty?"
Vaquera: "Oh man, Vachon will never forgive me for the damage to his leather jacket. At least it wasn't like that time the Ravens kidnapped the Perks and spilled coffee on Janette's entire wardrobe."
Cousin: "Plaid crying "
Non-Fan: "WTF?"

Just last month, I was in a gaming store, and looked over, and recognized someone from ForKni-L. It was awesome, we got together and reminisced. A lot of the old people are still there, so I'm rejoining and going to poke my head in. There's not been a War for years though. sad

I think I read you back when I was into Gundam Wing, depending on how old some of this stuff is. I still have crap I keep meaning to send you too --from when I was really into GW.

Fandom does have a lot of issues, but what I love is that even when people are accused of overthinking, there's at least a lot of people still thinking. It's kinda like what I love about SGA. The show, and the franchise itself has a ton of problems and issues, the biggest of which is the western might is right attitude (which I sometimes hope is intentional, but I doubt it)

But the fans talk about it -- and the fic deals with the issues, or at least the good ones do. And really, it lets me know that its okay to like something in spite of everything I find wrong about it.

One day, I hope that I can create something that gets fandom. Seriously.

We had a lot of fun. I just don't have the time for that sort of intensive writing anymore, though. I do want to get back into my fanfic more, though; the link I gave doesn't have the most recent stuff about Sky of Dust (like Quatre getting punched!) and I really need to buckle down and write out Trowa and Quatre together for the first time.

I loved that part of the rules was that you needed approval to RESCUE but none to ATTACK. Our bailing out of the Mercenary guy was an attack, so it didn't count as a rescue.

Saw Hellboy II.

Note the following:
To me, the grandeurs of the mythology and how it played out on the screen was worth the price of admission- to an early show.

Dumb Princess is Dumb.

SFX were wonderful.

It shows "Elves" as they should be- scary motherfunckers- and to that end, does a pretty good job of painting the scene.

It is also flavored with culture rape.

The modern depiction of an Elemental rivals that of Princess Mononoke- across genres.

You have been advised.

Dumb Princess is Dumb
Spoiler in white

Tea is tired. Tea should go to bed. Tea is- instead ranting about stupid "heroes".
When the puzzle is prestended- the riddle follows:
Twins- Prince and Princess- hurt one, equally hurt the other.
Shiny bit of metal = DOOM.
Shiny bit of metal belongs to person of Royal Blood.
Big Red Ape challenges. If Dumb Princess wasn't Dumb, Dumb Princess would have challenged. Prince can't kill Dumb Princess without killing himself. Prince can't beat Dumb Princess if she forces his hand to kill her. Either he concedes- and they melt the shiny metal. Or he kills her and himself then melt the shiny metal.

But no... Dumb Princess is Dumb.
