I'm starting to wish I hadn't stopped watching SGA in the first season.

Oh honey, the show just gets better/weirder/suckier/crackier.... all of the above in amusing combinations.

My fandom is Bones. And Gundam Wing. xd
I heart Gundam Wing, but left the fandom YEARS ago due to disturbing amounts of misogyny. Has it changed any?

Silly Tea, the TARDIS isn't just "an extremely complex piece of tech," it's a living being, and if Dresden hurt the TARDIS, the Doctor would destroy him. No question of it.

He wouldn't.
The Doctor is so full of mercy he has forgotten how to use it rationally.

Sometimes, death needs to happen.

When you see the finale (august is reasonable, it only aired here on saturday), you'll see what I mean.

My fandom is star trek. ninja TNG, specifically.
I don't wanna wait for August! I'm already avoiding all discussions and fic due to spoilers. crying

Especially poor Relena because she was "immature (fifteen!) a "hypocrite" (trying to figure out what her ideals were) and "stalking Heero" (um, what?). Pretty good way to chase girls out of a fandom is to bash all the female characters.

But then, I'm pretty sure the Gundam fandom at large is populated by misogynist twits.

Because we all know the only way to be mature is to pilot a giant mecha.

Now, that's obviously not true, because there's a few female pilots, and we all know that Noin's clingy and whiny and certainly has no personality of her own or spine to speak of, and Hilde has none of her own ideas and blindly follows Duo, and of course Dorothy's just a war-obsessed freak. So obviously it's not a sign of maturity or there wouldn't be girl pilots.

I'm suddenly reminded of the Gundam discussion I attended at Tora-con.

These facts were always glossed over by my anime club.

My anime club is largely populated by the sort of people who laughed through the rape scenes in Perfect Blue...I'm disinclined to have many actual conversations with most of them.

Oh yeah, well Buffy could-- you know, I got nothing. I'm a shameless Joss Whedon fangirl and I love me some Buffy, but Dresden is pretty much a badass. But could he take Batman?

Batman has the power of Super Insanity, and his fake identity of Bruce Wayne has the money to back it up. Depending on who is writing him, there is very little that I think can really stop him.

Also, I've seen pictures of a bunch of y'all, and I feel like I should return the favor. Also, I just really like these pictures and want to show them off. wink

They were taken at a photo shoot to promote some books about to be published by a local author. So we were all medieval/elfy.

My fandoms depend on what qualifies as participating in a fandom, I think. XD

The only online fandom I've participated in is that of Forever Knight. stare Now, the show is exceptionally campy and very dated now (still love it though!), and the fandom was awesome (it is much reduced now). They had incredibly cool yearly "Wars" in which all the active fans organized themselves into Factions based on their favorite characters or concepts from the show, and then participated in a two-week long INTENSE round-robin writing experience, where each member was a character in the FK universe, who attempted to play pranks and outdo the other factions. It was truly a blast. Each year had a premise. My favorite one was when a Rift in the Space Time Continuum let in alternate forms of all the characters, which allowed for hilarious and bizarre plots -- and some very touching ones as well.

I've never really participated in any other online fandom, but I do attend scifi and anime cons, because I am that much of a geek. So I've gone to events revolving around favorite shows many times. And I buy stuff related to those shows, so that's pretty fandomy I think. XD

The shows that I have been most fangirlish over have probably been Forever Knight, Buffy, X-Files, Firefly, ST:TNG, and ST biggrin S9.

Anime I've been most into included Blueseed, Bubblegum Crisis, Ranma, Utena, and most recently, Hellsing.

I watch Dr. Who, SG1, SGA, and various others on and off, but I'm not glued to the TV every episode like I was for those shows.

Annnnnd, the shows I watch now are House and Avatar. stare xd

The thread you linked to, Tea, has been causing me to toss and turn at night. Literally. It makes me so mad.

Hmm... Fandom...
Let me think...
The only character I really and truely have any sort of excessive like for is:
User Image
Whom, unfortunately, does not have a live action equivalent.
Altho I must give Vash the Stampede honourable mention.

I have a series love-hate relationship with fandom, considering I'm into scifi and anime, where sexism and misogyny abound and any attempt to start a dialogue about either results in accusations of misandry, closed-mindedness, whining, or "overthinking it." sweatdrop
