BlueRoseTorn mute_coyote Hiking at Mt. Rainier is always a humbling experience. Walking around town and my own neighborhood, it's easy to get under the impression that hiking on some trail for half a day would be fairly easy, if a little tiring. Of course, trails aren't flat, regular, or even consistently visible. There is no comparison between walking on smooth concrete alongside a road and walking on a bare dirt mountain trail when there are still large patches of snow on the ground. We only spent about 2 1/2 hours total hiking around, and I was beat. It's a good reminder that I've got a long ways to go before I'm ready to do any serious backpacking or similar forms of adventuring. Of course, in spite of the difficulty, it was great to see the mountain again. I was a bit sad that the trails up at Paradise were still under snow, but that just meant that we got to explore around Longmire. I hadn't been there in years. I got to see the same fallen logs I'd played on when I was barely seven and even a big elk standing by the road. Fun stuff. heart I know I all ready commented on how awesome that sounds, but an interesting tidbit: A co-worker of mine hiked at Rainier on Sunday, as well. Did you go with anyone by the name of Roseanne? 'Fraid not. It was just me, my parents, and my brother. We usually have a day-trip to Rainier as a family thing once or twice per summer.

So, I've gotta share this... Yesterday, I was chatting with some of the locals in the Mytho-History scene... and there's a new person recently added... Notably in my absence, as I really don't get along with this individual. his primary stance is, and I'm sure people from actual closed cultures, or cultures homogenized by them will love this... is that the Romans had a closed culture. xd

They were just victims of culture rape by most of the other cultures they came into contact with. xd

That's why I had tried to block this idjit from contaminating my social circle... Well, amongst other things, such as his ascertaition that The Druids would ambush innocent romans and then sacrifice them by hanging them upside down and slitting their under arms with Kris Style Blades. He is willfully ignorant, and never silences himself. I had hoped to keep at least one local social circle where I could find only vaguely intelligent conversation, but that hope was dashed.
Actually, as I see it, Romans sorta culture violated the Greeks alot, and then, in some areas, inflicted cultural homogenizing upon conquered peoples... in other areas, they seemed to leave the locals to their own devices. This is hardly the place for an indepth discussion, but I do find the turn about that occurs in modern eras amusing.

Ahh, if I ever need to tell my Classics professors a good joke, I'll remember this lackbrain. Sure the Romans are a closed culture. They only asked everyone they ever came across to join in. xd

Celeblin Galadeneryn Sure the Romans are a closed culture. They only asked everyone they ever came across to join in. xd ninja I get this mental image of the Romans hiding their wedding band. Egyptians: "Whatcha doin'?" Romans: "Nothing, nothing- go back to sleep."

Tis patch and friendsI'm the one in the blue that looks about 12. The curly haired guy next to me looks scruffy because he isn't wearing his waistcoat. -- In other news, my blog is featured on Tim alexanders hellenismos digest. Not sure how to feel about that. I've got no beef with it being on there as it is a public blog, but I always question his motives.

I wouldn't quite say 12. But that is a lovely picture. 3nodding
So, that was my current woes. It seems my social circle invited him just to have someone to make sport of, or to make them feel smarter. Sad state of affairs, and I had such high hopes for them. Oh well, just goes to show, the only society worth keeping, is a secret one. ninja

Fiddlers Green It seems my social circle invited him just to have someone to make sport of, or to make them feel smarter. That seems pointless. Not to mention deceptive in a nasty way.

Deoridhe That seems pointless. Not to mention deceptive in a nasty way. Indeed. which is why I am bidding them farewell, they have failed to live up to my moral standards, and I shan't sully myself by having to associate with a group that brings me irritation, and of who's activities I approve not.

Nuri I has a heart murmur. It's nothing horrible. I know, I did some research just a bit ago. It's just...it's kinda scary to have someone look you in the face and say "Hey, somethings wrong with your heart" I was like "What..NO wai! I need that!"
