Buffy is a Supernaturally bred entity, more than just bred in fact, mythically crafted through millenia of man's existance. Every entity she kills makes the Slayer stronger.

She became unto a God.
For Willow, she absorbed all of the Magics in a magical bookstore turning herself into a completely Aware Fury entity.
For Giles, he just punked Willow.

Buffy wasn't just bred. The entity that merges with the Slayer is what's bred.
Buffy is more than just Buffy, she is the Slayer, and that is the power. Not Buffy.

We have to consider that it took Blackstaff and a handful of other Elders to to get away from the nasties in Proven Guilty. That much raw talent wasn't enough to beat them- Dresden could, push come to shove, beat Blackstaff (assuming Dresden let go)- therefore, pwnage.

If humans had any inherent power in that world, the same would apply to Dresden.

I started with the series, then I read the books. It's hard to translate books to Movies, let alone TV- but they did a good job of keeping the spirit if not the details.
