Relief started spreading through his body when Smilepaw heard Kindlestar say his name and mentor, Creamtail.

Duskwind looked at Smilepaw with pride and was satisfied with Kindlestar's choice of mentor for him for Creamtail was her good friend.

Dawnlight chanted the new apprentice's name, this time his tone happier. He both liked the kit and the mentor, despite how much he fumbled about how useless Creamtail was.

"Finally, Midnightkit, you arrived to this Clan during leaf bare, and have learned the hardships of Clan life inside the camp. However, it is time for you to be apprenticed and learn the ways to defend the Camp and provide for it. Your name is now Midnightpaw, and I shall be taking over you apprenticing," she announced, and she went down from the Fire Rock to touch noses with her new apprentice as it was custom.

Lightningpaw smiled at Midnightpaw, thinking to himself. Lucky... It wasn't that he had anything against Warstorm, he just didn't favor him that much, he looked at Dawnlight giving him a "Don't worry" look.

Warstorm looked at his apprentice then saw Dawnlight and turned away Why doesn't he get that Sharpclaw saved his pelt from badgers

((No offense Dawnlight Warstorm is just mad because he can be protective about Sharpclaw sometimes))

Sharpclaw looked at the clan I know some won't forgive me for what I did but I know I did the right thing and that's all that matters

((Nah, Dawnlight doesn't like many cats, especially toms. xd You should see him in Gatherings when there are other cats. dramallama ))

Dawnlight blinked in surprise. Kindlestar rarely took apprentices. In fact, the last time she had taken an apprentice he himself was still an apprentice.

His ears perked up as he saw Kindlestar padding towards him.

"Dawnlight, I want you to take the dawn patrol tomorrow. Take Thrushpaw and Sparrowpaw with you. The two of them are experienced apprentices and I want you to evaluate how they behave themselves in patrol without too much supervision," she mewed at him.

Sharpclaw looked at Firesong "How have you been?"

Warstorm walked away from Sharpclaw and headed over to Lightningpaw.

While gazing at Fire Rock for a few moments hear noticed at the corner of his eye Warstorm, his new mentor padding toward him. He turned toward his mentor, looking at him up and down.

"Hello, Warstorm." He said nodding in his greeting.

Firesong looked sadly at Sharpclaw. "Other than being swamped during a greencough epidemic this leafbare and losing Thorngaze, I'm doing alright."

Thrushpaw's eyes lit up as he heard Kindlestar tell Dawnlight to take him on patrol. His tail whipped happily, though he tried not to look too overexcited. He needed to keep calm, and he was usually good at it. Besides, he thought, now that the ceremony is over, maybe I can get Dawnlight to tell me about those rumors.

A look of pride flashed in Dawnlight's eyes. It pleased him to have his apprentice recognized. "Of course, Kindlestar," he growled, bowing his head respectfully. "Will Duskwind be alright with me taking her apprentice?" he asked.

"You had pretty much taken over her training while Duskwind was in the nursery anyways. It would be good you entirely assess her before Duskwind takes over her training again so you can give her a full report," she responded, then headed over to Duskwind.

"Congratulations on getting back to the Warrior's den," she purred kiddingly. "How does it feel?"

Midnightpaw padded down from Fire Rock and walked over to where the rest of the group were standing.

(this feels like a scary movie where you know the monster is behind the door and you yell at the people on tv "DONT GO IN THERE!!!" but now i'm yelling "DONT GO ON PATROL!!! YOUS GONNA DIE!!!" burning_eyes )

"I have to say it feels exciting! Not that I didn't love taking care of Smilepaw in the nursery, it's just that I wasn't out there hunting or defending our borders and it was killing me!" Duskwind said, whiskers twitching.

((I know right? twisted I already pmed Cursedstar that we are going with that plot, just not sure which cat is old enough in PebbleClan and active enough to have been the killer. Or we could just use one of them inactive ones. whee ))

Kindlestar purred. "Just what I expected to hear out of you. You always do put the Clan first," she mewed, then looked up at the stars that were starting to show up.

"We better get some rest. Lots of apprentices to train tomorrow. And who knows? Maybe yet another warrior will learn the importance of the play dead move," she added, her eyes twinkling before getting up and nodding a farewell.

Kindlestar headed over to the leader's den and sat down on her nest, her fur sticking to the bedding. Midnightpaw's first lesson might just be bedding picking... she thought with disgust, shifting uncomfortably on her nest before closing her eyes to sleep.

Thrushpaw yawned, heading for the apprentices den. He needed to be well rested for the morning. Entering the den, he rearranged the moss so that there was more room, and curled up for bed.


Firesong purred as everyone began heading to bed. It was refreshing to have sharpclaw back in the clan home, and Dawnlight would be taking a patrol of apprentices tomorrow. Things were looking well this new leaf. Still something nagged at the back of her mind. She remembered the words of the prophecy, and no longer felt uplifted.

Duskwind turned and looked at Smilepaw and sighed a happy sigh. He has a long day tomorrow...

Smilepaw kneaded the ground, "I can't believe that tomorrow we start our training!" he mewed to Midnightpaw and Lightningpaw.

(yeah short post but i'm going to put my brother to bed)

He looked over at Smilepaw, giving him a small smile, looking a little tired. "Hm...yeah, you're right. I should be fun..." He yawned while looking at his paws, almost struggling to stay awake.
