I haven't got much to update, really. Taking a creative writing class again at university (script-writing for the screen), and I still have the idea I came up with before Christmas brewing at the back of my mind. If it wasn't for all my university work I'd have started on it now; all my reading is hindering me a great deal. I hope to find some time soon, though!

A high school loser turns emo and it causes a vampiric-style infection of the school and then the whole town, upsetting the cosmic balance of musical genres or whatnot. So a few agents are sent in to stop him. It's meant to be a cheesy, comedic, musical type thing. dramallama (It was the ScriptFrenzy idea I never got around to last year. Or the year before. Whichever. o_< )

Oh, yes, I remember! It was the music-ness I was most excited by. heart

Last night I wrote a little, for the first time in months. It actually felt pretty good - and I'm sure as hell not going to reread anything I wrote. XD

The music would be the hardest part. XD I'd probably write the general story, leaving the song sections mostly blank. Then I can fill them in as I get inspired. But I'm still struggling with Ochrasy and there's BaT on hiatus, so... I don't think I should really start a new project. D= Maybe. If things are going well by April.

You mean a little outside of classwork? I think class stuff technically still counts as writing, even if it's less enjoyable. XP Was it on one of your current stories or just something random?

I don't count my class stuff at the moment because it's working on a 20 minute script that I don't really like. I mean, I guess it's still writing, but writing a page a day of a script isn't exactly trying. This was on something new. I'm putting off finishing my NaNo for a while, because I don't feel ready to end it yet. XD

Don't say that. gonk I feel accomplished if I manage a couple paragraphs here and there. The novels need to have their beginnings rewritten yet again, and I have such trouble moving forward when the earlier parts are a mess. D= But as I'm trying to rewrite, the prose is awful, while the original prose was so nice. Makes me think I'm just screwing it up worse. It's frustrating. emo

Don't feel ready as in not up to it, or not wanting to leave the characters yet? XD

I mean, a page in script isn't much compared to a page of prose because of the format. And since it's only first draft right now, I'm just banging out the action really.

I think not ready as in both. I want to do the ending justice, but I'm also not ready to finish with Leo and Arabella yet. D:

You can always write them a sequel? Or at least daydream about one. I have half a billion side stories in my head for all my characters, things I know I'll never get written down. XP

That is very true. XD I was even thinking about writing about Leo's private detective business BEFORE Glory, but I dunno how that would work... I guess we'll see.

But for now I'm working on this new novel. Back to romance, combined with a bit of thriller and a mostly-female cast. heart That's my kind of novel. <3

Hooray for getting back to basics! dramallama What's the premise for this one?

I feel like Ochrasy is having an identity crisis. Originally, I wanted it to have a kind of mysterious, poetic atmosphere. It started quiet and then revved up to its conclusion, but of course, all advice says that won't work. I need to start out with action, so I've got a new first chapter that begins with a battle. But then it makes me worry that people will expect it to be a total action novel... gonk

This is how bad I've gotten. After several years of working on this series, I've scrapped virtually everything and am now stuck on chapter one. D= Epic Fail.

Well, it's basically a romance story. In a nutshell, ha. A woman, who is happily married in a small town and part of the local aristocracy, witnesses the murder of her husband over money he owes local gang members. Cassie runs away and finds herself in a town miles from home, and pregnant (oh yeah, added conflict). There she meets Carmen, who is mysterious, dresses in men's clothing and always has money to spend on her.

Carmen is a thief, and Cassie finds that this excites her more than it should. Blah blah blah. But, obviously, this gets Carmen into trouble. Cassie has to decide whether she can afford to move again, running away with Carmen, or whether she could face the prospect of a life in the city alone. : D

There will be various romance-y scenes, along with action-y ones too. I'm quite excited about it, though doubtless it'll play out a little differently than planned. They usually do. XD

Awww, I wish I could help you out. Personally, though, I like the slow-starting novels - just so long as they're not TOO slow starting, y'know? I'm not a big fan of novels that start with action, mostly because I don't read for action, haha. But I supposed starting with action isn't bad advice, because it would interest more people than it wouldn't interest, if that makes sense.

That sounds good. =D Are the gang members going to come after Cassie? It could be an exciting end if they both have trouble closing in and have to escape together. X3

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Action draws more readers, which is good, but then they may be disappointed later, which is bad. Or worse, people who otherwise might like the book will be turned off by the start. I dunno. I feel like I want something different for it and don't have any idea how to achieve it. o_< It probably doesn't help that my first three chapters are still labelled "intro". *dies*
