Happy new year all ( not yet...I have 4 and a half hours, but I'll be out xD)
Have a good one!

I watched POTC3, which, in the context of the trilogy; is pretty dire.
However, I've come to like the portrayal of the other world and the way the people sail in boats when they die. I've spent alot of time recently thinking about an afterlife.

Now, I'm watching tea's favourite film. xd Life of brian.

When did people get in the habit of not capitalizing my name?

Actually, this made me realize. I don't know if I have a favorite movie.

It's not just you. I saw it at least three times within the last 24 hours. It just made me do a double take.

So let's start off this year with some news.

My grandfather, known as Grumps- whom some of you met at ReCon, has been diagnosed with a terminal cancer. This news has me on an emotional roller coaster. He has been suffering from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. He just had a kidney stone operation and the loss of his faculties has been a great hardship for him on an emotional level- leading to a very deep depression. The cancer itself is highly aggressive, though not drastically painful unto itself. The only options to cure him would likely kill him and the reasonable treatment options will only slow it's progress.

This is the man who taught me how to sail, how to drive, ride a bike... eat an apple off the core. He helped my husband and I pay for our immigration attorney- and he is a man of great patience, kindness and generosity.

The comfort in the diagnosis is that the idea of being bed ridden for years and unable to recognize his family brought him great distress. Something he no longer faces.

I am in the process of contacting an amazing woman I know from the scene who is a death midwife.

~~~~~
My hubby lost his job last Friday. Due to immigration restrictions, he was unable to work for a long time when we were first married. This is a bit of a stress point, as I have some intense memories of the unpleasantness that came with being a poor newly married couple and this is sending me into a bit of a panic.
However- the company we worked for was not a pleasant one on the whole, and it afforded him a year's lab experience. He is currently looking into State and Federal jobs.
~~~~~

The interesting news that comes from this is that I am in the process of starting my own business! I will be mostly doing subcontracting for a local artist and I am thrilled at the chance. In addition, it is part time work with the most flexible of hours- so I have a couple very positive options.

I can aid in the Hospice care of my grandfather or I can find a full time job and do this on the side.

~~~~~
My grandmother has decided that she needs more help as well, and she has taken a dislike to the place we are living in.
The upshot of this- she has decided to sell her home upon my grandfather's passing and buy a home that is suited to us living together so we can help her as she needs, but still maintain our respective privacy.
So- in theory, come late spring, we may be home owners in addition to business owners.
~~~~~

The other chance opening with the business model we have is that once my husband has a job, I will be able to return to school! I have missed school for far too long and I am very excited to return!

In addition to the flexibility my work with this other artist will provide, it also gives me experience that relates to my degree.

~~~~~
Another upshot of us having our home is that we will be looking hard at one of our other goals as a couple. Having children.
~~~~~

It would seem that the end of last year and the beginning of this one is bittersweet. I have traditionally held three lessons very dear- and I have learned two more from my dear cousin in the last week that I need to explore some more within myself before I integrate them the way I have these other lessons. But I figured I would include them in my Pathways Thread in the next day or so- so that folks can get some more insight into the realm where my spirituality and personal understandings meet.

~~~~~
Happy New Year everyone,
~Tea
