I want to donate blood, but I hate needles, the Donation Clinic is a long bus ride away, and, did I mention getting needles sucks?

I don't know my bloodtype either sweatdrop Neither do my parents.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 01, 2006 1:15 pm
lol. They actually tell you on the donation form not to donate blood just to find out if you have a disease. xd

I'ce actually never donated at a donation center/clinic. Blood Drives for me! They're more convenient 3nodding

And green tea kitkat sounds a bit gross actually...

Sometimes I have these long conversations with people from my Buddy List who IM me to chat.
And the whole time I can't for the life of me remember who they are.

The needles do suck, since they're pretty large. But you get a warm fuzzy feeling. That's the blood loss, of course.

Blood drives are more fun. xp

They often have blood drives at my college, I've never participated in one though since (1) I still don't know my bloodtype, and (2) I'd have to go to class feeling all light-headed. . .(3)It's really difficult to get blood from me. sweatdrop

I know Green Tea KitKat sounds pretty gross. . . and it looks pretty not good too (the chocolate is green), but it's seriously the best one I've ever had. xd It doesn't even really taste like green tea. . .It's hard to explain. whee

Dunno, I have a weird fascination with needles myself. part of the reason I like donating blood so much is getting them watch it stick it in and the blood come out xd sweatdrop

My veins are so visible someone would have to be a complete idiot to miss/not get my blood. I mean, when i take a shower they're so visible it looks like someone colored on me in blue marker and other times you can still see them really well. So yeah, it's convenient^^ though if I ever get old they'll probably start popping out and then I'll be one of those uber gross old people gonk

You don't need to know you're blood type to donate blood. They find out when they test the blood I think.^^

And yesh, cold they are 3nodding Though the blood is nice and warm.

And this is such a weird post/conversation xd

I never donate blood, because I can't. sweatdrop I'm really lightweight so I don't even fit the weight requirement, and also I have a muscular disease that's a form of congenital myopathy and mitochondria myopathy. Basically, my mitochondria are mutated, so they don't bring enough energy to my muscles as they should. So I get tired alot and other things.

Though I'm kinda glad I can't donate blood because when I HAVE to get blood taken, I always feel like crap afterwards. neutral

Take some of mine DrdScully. I only have ninteen pints of the stuff. eek

There was a weight station at the Boston Science Museum telling you how much blood you had in your body. Amanda: 8 pints. Sam: 19.

The doctors don't let me watch. My Mom's a nurse, so I'm really used to pretty much any body thing. I wanted to watch them draw the blood, but the guy got real nervous and made me look away. It's probably because it's uber hard to find veins on me. I can see 'em fine, but other people take a good twenty minutes. They need to take Titus's advice and get some junkies in there. Bam, done. It's not only their job, but they do it as a hobby!

I hate KitKats. I sorta like Green tea. I wouldn't even touch the stuff.

xd That's actually a pretty good idea. . . though I wouldn't want junkies sticking me with needles. >.>

My veins are rather obvious too, more so in my wrists and hands. On the area where they usually take blood from though, they seem to have a harder time.

I remember one time they kept sticking me with a needle in the right arm, then the left, then back to the right. . . then they gave up and took it from the top of my hand. gonk I tell you, that stings like a b***h.

19 Pints of blood!? That's. . . odd. You'd make a Vampyre very happy. ^^

Sucky about the medical condition. Though I actually always thought the way they phrase the weight requirment is odd. 110lbs they say. If you're 4'10", which some people are, that's certainly not underweight. If you're 5'10", that's low enough to fit the medical criteria for anorexia.

I generally feel fine afterwards myself, except that I dont like juice or cookies so I end up having water and like A cookie and last time I didn't eat anything for several hours afterwards because I wasn't home and cause I was curious about what would happen...still just sorta lightheaded and fast heartbeat, which happens sometimes anyway so eh

And 19pts sounds like a lot lol. Although apparently there's a medical condition where people produce too much blood to the point of having to donate/get it removed, so could be worse. Plus you've less of a chance of dying of blood loss if someone stabs you or something xd

I wouldn't mind junkies to much provided they weren't high at the time and they passed the tests you give normal people. And yeah, I can trace mine all the way up my arm and onto my chest/abdomen/legs 0__o

Sounds like it would sting

I have no clue what my bloodtype is either sweatdrop

And my veins are quite visible too, especially on my wrists/arms and on my chest sweatdrop

If I didn't stake 'em. Well, depends on the vampire. And the gender. wink

Heh, I have to take an asprin before giving blood, because I clot very well. I heard people bragging on how fast they filled the bags, and just shook my head at them. The fools.
