Felix wsan't expecting anyone to be there to greet him. And he wondered briefly how she knew he had arrived until she said that Antha told her. Antha spoke to Felix in his mind once so he knew what she was talking about.

He was slightly confused by her question. How was the trip? He didn't know how to answer it the way she wanted to hear it. He didn't even know the correct way to answer it. The only way he could think of was answering it like he was giving a mission report.

"We made it there with no problems. Upon entering the house, we spotted the shost that was to be eradicated. Shortly after, Antha ordered me and Courtland to return here."

Dolly Jean was silent for a moment or two, staring at him with a vacant curiosity. Finally she shook her head as if to rid herself of the confusion, giggling just a bit to herself. "You're strange," she said simply, gathering her courage to take his hand and drag him towards the kitchen. "Come on, everyone's in the kitchen." With that she pranced through the doorway, going to stand beside her brother. "Cyrus, Felix is home," she announced, giving him the bright smile that seemed almost permanently plastered across her face, "Antha made him come back. He says Courtland is supposed to come back, too."

Kain looked to them, "Ah your just in time Felix. We just started into our second drinks. Would you like one?" he asked raiseing it to him. Kain had a feeling he wouldn't accept it however. "And how bout you, Dolly Jean, would you like one." he added politely. He needed to think about her name for a moment but thankfully his memory hadn't failed him yet on names. He was suprised to feel upset that Antha wasn't back yet.

Dolly Jean looked to the one who spoke to her, whose name she didn't know. "I'm not allowed to drink," she said softly, lowering her eyes as her cheeks colored faintly. It was the easiest thing in the world to make Dolly Jean blush. "I already stay confused, and Julien says we shouldn't add to that."
At this point, Eleanor---who had slipped out quietly before Antha had come downstairs---reemerged in the kitchen, standing beside the door and letting her gaze sweep across the room, her eyes colder now that Antha was not there to threaten her. "Dolly Jean is slow," she simplified, her tone hollow, "Drinking makes her absolutely ridiculous." For another moment she let her gaze wander until she decided that the best use of her attention would be to settle it on Felix. "Why didn't Antha come back?" she asked, inching towards him as if she still expected Antha to pop up and stop her cold in her tracks, "And Courtland, for that matter? Were they just sick of you?"
The other girl gave something like a low whine, easing away from the counter to put herself between Eleanor and Felix like a barrier, shielding him from her crueler cousin. "Don't be mean to Felix," she murmured, trying not to lower her gaze, "He didn't do anything to you."

Felix had a feeling that Eleanor was trying to insult Felix by her comments. Had that been put a different way or directed at something else, he might have taken offence to it, but Felix didn't care. She didn't know the reason he was excused from being there.

Felix has taken note that everyone so far doesn't really approve of the way he answers them. Talking as if he was still in the guild. It wasn't his intention to try and annoy Eleanor by replying the way he does but to those around him, they might actually appreciated it. "Antha excused me, for what reasons, she didn't enclose to us. She said it was a precaution. And if my being there would hinder the task that she was trying to achieve, then she was in the right to order me away. Antha stayed because she has yet to complete her task that she set for herself. Courtland, I'm not sure. I left the moment she ordered me away.

Kain nodded in understanding. "Happens too much. Boss says leave and doesn't tell you why, but you just follow orders. Hard to get out of your system." he took a sip of the drink. "This really isn't bad. Haven't had anything this good in a long time." he said to himself closing his eyes to enjoy the taste. "Oh Felix how would you like to have a short training session out side. Not to the death of course but it might help us hone our skills." he said with a raised eye brow.

Cyrus rolled his lazy eyes at Eleanor when she spoke. He touched his sister's arm as a reflex like he was preparing to pull her out of danger but it was all very halfhearted gestures like he didn't really care. Or maybe it was just too normal.
Jack's movements were similar as he picked up on of the light glass pitchers from the counter and chucked it at Eleanor. His voice even had that slow, lazy, careless quality as he spoke which made the words sound more deliberate. "Shut. The. ********. Up."
The cruel truth was that no one cared if Eleanor got hurt. No one liked her. Most of them hated her. It helped her behave when they reminded her that the only reason they didn't kill her was she wasn't worth the time and effort.
"Felix," Cyrus said in his normal tone as he turned to looka t him. He didn't even acknowledge what had just happened. "Would you like to see the portrait hallway? All the important Mayfairs since Suzanne have their portraits hung there."

Eleanor didn't have the time to dodge before quite suddenly she found glass breaking against her face, the pitcher broken by the small number of umbra protecting her before it smashed into her. But they couldn't spare her the shower of glass that decorated her face with small, trembling lines of blood.
"Jack!" Dolly Jean whispered, a touch shocked at his actions. She didn't like Eleanor either, of course, but she still didn't think her cousin deserved to have things thrown at her like that.
"You son of a b***h," Eleanor said slowly, incredulously, touching her hands to her face and then bringing them away crimson. She had a moment or two to glare at him, and then Cyrus and Felix and even Dolly Jean, before she fled the room, slipping up the stairs into the attic, and the locked room beyond.

The desire to know more about his family over powered the invitation he recieved from Kain. Felix looked at the man. "Not right now. I want to find out more about my family right now." And with that said, he looked at Cyrus. With what he said, that should have been an obvious answer. Right now Felix was waiting for him to lead the way.

Cyrus pushed away from the counter and led the way to the second floor. The hallway was between the library and Malakai's room. "This first one is Suzanne Mayfair," he explained pointing to the blond-haired and blue-eyed girl in the oldest painting. "Everything began with her. She was infected with the vampire Sleet's blood as a child. She bore her daughter Deborah to a nobleman."
He pointed to the next picture. "Deborah began the legacy. With the vampire blood in her veins she was a second-greneration witch and the only witch on record besides Antha to have all three marks of a witch. Red hair, green eyes, and a sixth finger. She had her daughter Charlotte by a Talamascan."
He went to a portrait of another blond-haired and blue-eyed woman. "Charlotte continued the legacy and bore two twin children by her father Petyr. Her spirits killed him when he tried to leave and that's how the curse began that all men who marry Mayfair women die young and tragically."
He skimmed through the rest of the portraits just giving names. They weren't that important. He stopped at Mary Beth's portrait. Julien's was opposite hers. "This is Mary Beth. She was Antha, Nicolae, and Malakai's mother and Julien's older sister. She married a Talamascan first, Michael York, who turned out to be a Mayfair by blood. He's Nicolae and Malakai's legal father. Then she went insane and left uncle Michael because she fell in love with another man. When she got pregnant she convinced the man to marry her by saying the baby was his. She died giving birth to Antha and Liam knew that the baby was really Julien's so he went mad at being tricked and he kept Antha locked up for nine years."
He moved to Antha's portrait. It pictured her in lots of make-up and old fashioned clothing and stood out because of all the dark paint. "He abused her. A lot. Then he wound up murdered mysteriouslyand they brought her here so that we might bask in the light of her presence."
He glanced down the row of paintings. "Any questions?"

Maybe it was on the subject that found Felix's attention. Since death was all he really knew. "If men who marry Mayfair woman die, what happens to woman who marry Mayfair men. Do they meet the same fate or are they spared." And a second question rose to mind but wasn't worth bringing up. Was it marrying or any sexual act with one. The guild had tried to breed and pass his skills along to a son or daughter twice now. If the woman did die from that, there are going to be two dead woman in the guild. And a possible two infants with no birth mother as well.

"It's only men. Our curse doesn't seem to mind women so much." He sighed. "And it doesn't have to be marriage. We think it's more of just becoming involved in family business. If the curse included sex then Antha would have killed half the men in this city with our curse."
Talking about her made Cyrus walk up to her portrait. "But more than anything it's love. For a Mayfair to fall in love with a man outside the family is murder." He sighed again. Sadder this time. "That's why we're beginning to worry so much about Antha's new companion. That vampire from earlier that follows her everywhere." He forced himself to look away and face Felix again. "He's the first non-Mayfair man that Antha has ever loved and even though they can't be married and she can't bear any children by him the curse might still decide to get him out of the way. Because as Julien pointed out as long as she loves him she might never go to another man. Which brings me to my point."
Cyrus stared at his new cousin with suddenly sad eyes. He looked tired. "I won't be offended if you say no but I have a proposition for you. It's a very old Mayfair plot that we think would be perfect for distracting Antha. But we need you for it." He paused because he didn't know how to go on. "To be very honest we need a shiny new object to dangle in front of her to get her away from the vampire while we still can. For his sake. You're the only shiny new object around." He was quiet waiting to see if Felix understood what he meant.

"I'm not sure I'm the best person for this. You want someone who can catch her attention. Aside from me being the newest member to the family, there's nothing I can do to catch her interest. It's been stated a few times already, that I'm not like you guys. What can I offer that the vampire can't?"

Felix wasn't refusing what they asked. He was plainly giving his own opinion. Felix lived and existed to kill. He could never be someone's lover or signifigant other. Every one here could offer Antha more than he could. But Felix didn't mind that fact. He didn't mind any of it at all. He knew there were tasks that he couldn't perform. And Antha might ask one of those tasks from him.

"Felix you have her attention." He paused and sighed. "Don't you think she tires of people like us? We are her favorites but Antha gets bored easily. You are the shiny new object in every way. I promise Antha already wants you." He tried to hide his smile. "Along with another little witch girl around here I think."
He shook his head and sighed again. "It doesn't matter what the vampire can offer her. I'm sure Antha loves him but she and monogamy are on extremely bad terms. She'll end up in someone's bed sooner or later and we need that to be sooner or else the vampire might be in trouble."

"It's your call. I still think this is out of my area of expertice, but if I need to I'll try.." Felix walked to Antha's picture again. He has no experience in suducing or the such. So how would he approach her? He asked himself again, what could he offer that the vampire couldn't. He wasn't like anyone here. He was raised and trained to be emotionless. To take order with out question, except in some occasions. How was he going to do this?
