Yeah, being around other writers must be difficult. You constantly compare yourself to others but your writing should be about you. smile

That's what I keep telling myself.

Maybe it's the new novel? There's no spark, no incredibly excitement to write it. Maybe I need to hold back on writing that one until I can get excited by it, and try to write something else. Maybe it would be worth rereading my trilogy novels and trying to work on the third one... I always got so excited writing those novels. =O

Yeah, it is horrible when that creative spark is void from the writing, even though you want to write it!

Yeah! And I don't know if you noticed, but the same thing happened during NaNoWriMo. I started two novels and both were major flops. I just feel like maybe I need to find something that makes me SO excited I can't contain it. =O I think fantasy is the way to go, because even though Dead On Depature has fantasy elements, most of it does occur in the real world and that's just no fun, right? X3

I've only given up on one story and that was only because I could see it was just a mess and I needed a long break away from it before the rewrite. Haha, you need to really get down and get some reallly exciting views. Perhaps try something new, a new genre?

At the moment, I'm tempted to go back to the third novel in my trilogy. Completely start over, and spend some time going through my other two novels (like read through them, plan timelines etc.) because it seems like I could really enjoy that. I'm going to completely change the final plot though, and character motivation and POV, so basically it's completely new. <3 We'll see if I can get the motivation to get through the other two novels in order to plan that far ahead.

Going back to stories is so fun haha. It seems the best thing to do. If it has potential, why not?

Yeah, I always planned on finishing it, so maybe the summer will be the perfect time because I just know it's going to be a huge (and I mean HUUUGGEEE) project. The trilogy needs to be complete. =D

They really are!! I just wish there wasn't so much reading that came with this one. I have to reread both of my 130k novels and work out a timeline and a plot before I can even think about starting to write it. Damn it. XD

I would say rewrite them to get a better feel but I know how much energy and pleasure it kind of drains out of you!

I think at this stage I need to re-find my enjoyment for the novels, so simply reading the novels should be enough for me to get back into them again. Already, since starting reading last night, I'm thinking about my characters a lot of the time and getting really excited. I just hope that in the time it takes to read the entirety of the two novels I don't lose that excitement again. XD

I might have to start writing Roboto while rereading the second novel, maybe, so that I'm not stressing too much about fitting it all into my summer. But everything will be better once my exams are over.

Haha yes, I do cringe when re-reading my stuff at some of the stuff I write! Hope you don't have that trouble!

I have had that trouble a little, but mostly the bad writing is made up for in terms of decent characters and amusing plot. xd Yay.
