Heck yeah! There's lots of love in this guild, he-he. Stay here Jen even if you can't be here everyday, ok? Gee, it's great knowing yer lil one is doing fine. So, a female doctor huh? That used to be a rare sight here in Guatemala when I was born. Now it's becoming more common which, is quite cool...
Say, is yer Doc pretty or what? mrgreen

As for me, I still haven't had any chacne for continuing with my fic. How lame is that?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 18, 2006 1:07 pm
Can you blame me for feeling this way, Jen? I've always worked hard to make people interested in something, and hardly a soul ever is.

I despise all who have joined stating their interest, and have then never bothered. Those of us who are older will understand that 100% commitment for is isn't possible, but those who are still in school (which is about 80% of Gaia's population) are more interested in petty little things like avatar contests and the mini games. They're far too easily entertained. Please bear in mind this is only my opinion.

I expected more people (what with the immense number of members on Gaia) to share the same interests as myself. However, in the long run, Gaia is a younger person's forum, and therefore my ideals are evidently going to be obsolete.

Maybe I should search for an intellectuals forum...

From Saturday to tuesday I won't be here, as I am taking a random trip up to see Mel for a few days.

I won't have the net, but miss me!

I for one, can't blame you Mel. That's is sort of how I felt about my club when I saw it inactive. *sighs* confused But this guild still is active at least. I hope it stays that way for long and it's sure cool to see you here, even if it's not often...

So, Mandy's gonna be at Mel's? Again? Cool! Have a nice trip Mandy! I'll miss ya!

As for me, I still haven't had the chance to write some more... rolleyes

This may sound harsh Mel, but if you're going to give up on your guild why do you expect other to keep it alive?
No offense intended, but it's your present lack of enthuasim and participation for this guild that has had me considering leaving. Even if it were a more or less inactive guild, but you still showed a love of your guild and those who have joined it (active or not) I think that this would be a more plesant place to be. [/my two cents]

I guess it does sound a bit harsh but you got a point there Jen. That's why I always encouraged members in my club to post no matter if they couldn't come often. I always said that at least once a month was fine by me but, after a while nobody came around. Not even once every 6 months! Now that got me really upset and I haven't been to my club since. So I also understand how Mel feels on this... You know? Have you asked SK how he would feel if his guild became inactive for about 6 months? I bet it would burn him up... burning_eyes he-he mrgreen

Hey Jen, I agree but because Mel has a full-time job and works to silly hours...she doesn't really want to go online much, I hardly talk to her now!

When she is online she is writing her story (which I hope is going well.) She seems to be so into it that she is forgetting everything else....but can you blame her?

I'll always be here, so I'll keep it alive....I suppose I am keeping it going while she aint around ya know?

And yes Hhypno I ish going away again, only been about 3 months but me and her were depressed that we couldn't talk and stuff so a random trip was in order. Heh.

Kind of you to make the assumption that I expect others to keep it alive. Leave if you really want to Jen, I can't really stop you.

Let me tell you a few things as to my MAIN lack of action as well as being utterly disappointed in so-called members:

* My dad has multiple sclerosis now. He is in constant agony with his back seeing as he has transverse myelitis and that caused the MS. He cannot walk far without a walking stick, and has gone through a lot in order to get disability allowance for a mobility car. He needs to quit work, but can't as we'd most likely lose our home otherwise. He'd have to go six months with no money.

* With dad still working and me working, and mum working 8 till 2 weekdays, she comes home every day and then has to do all the housework. Because of this, I've dropped a day's work (and losing money) in order to relieve some pressure off mum's back.

* When I come home from work I am usually on my laptop writing my book, which will become my life in the future when I get myself published.

* I've had a friend of mine blame me for her misfortunes recently. I thought she was going to dump the friendship me and her had for years.

Nothing else specific that I care to tell, but there have been a number of other personal issues going on as well. So sorry if I appear insensitive and grumpy, but a half dead Gaia guild is the least of my worries right now. I did not EXPECT anyone to keep the guild alive at all. If you want to do anything with it then you are welcome to. You're a moderator on here after all.

I don't mean to sound harsh but I'm confused and struggling with life at the moment. You could easily turn around and say "everyone feels that way". However, as an individual, I am telling you I'm dealing with my own troubles. I don't mean to sound harsh, ok!?

PostPosted: Thu Aug 24, 2006 10:22 am
Well Mel, I sincerely hope the best for you and may all of those troubles pass on quickly. I understand why you can't be here as often as before but we will still be here if you need anyone to talk to. I think I can speak for every other mod when I say you have our support. At least in spirit anyway cuz I wish I could do more but as you can imagine, we each have our own stuff to deal with. sweatdrop
Say, there isn't a cure for MS, is there? My Grandfather has Parkinson's and I don't think there's a cure for that either... cry

Mel - I'm sorry that you're having trouble. It's unfortunate that your Dad has MS and that your family situation is so stressful right now. I wish the best for you all! But as you said, the same could be said for just about anyone; we all have our own struggles and trials to get through.

I'm the last person to complain about someone making real life a priority over Gaia, and I appreciate how patient everyone has been with me having to take care of my girls. But if this guild has become so much of a dissapointment to you, I'm of the opinion that you do something about it. Weather you sell it, recruit, or leave it be, complaining about things only makes matters worse. (the last thing I need right now is another person telling me that I'm a disappointment)

...for the time being, I shall not be playing an active role at all. When I see some interest coming back, I will return...
Forgive me if I took that wrong, but to me it sounds like you are expecting others to keep this guild alive.

I have not done things with your guild because it is YOUR guild. Creating threads is one thing, but deleting them is another. I thought that you had worked hard to get this guild the way that you wanted it and I didn't want to mess that up. I mean I've worked very hard in my guilds setting things up the way that I want them and I don't want my crew members just changing things around w/o at LEAST discussing it with me.

If you need to take time to deal with your troubles then that's fine. But with the way that you were talking about leaving this guild until it was more active I took it to mean that the trouble was the guild - not life.

Gee, I managed to read the fine print without any help... But really Jen, I think that's the last thing any person needs. mrgreen
Anyways, I feel the same way as you about this: "Crew members shouldn't just go around changing whatever they feel like without discussing it with the owner of the guild first." So Jen, what happened to yer bro? Is he gonna be here often or not so much?

My brother's not on Gaia very often. I think I need to find some time to sit down with him and show him what to do. He's still not sure.
