That sounds pretty sweet. <3 Awesome first line.

I'm never very good at coming up with first lines, but I think that this one probably is the best I'll get at capturing Daisy's sense of humour/personality.

I don't want to spoil too much, but once she's in the afterlife people are constantly mocking her because of how she died; it's not necessarily an unusual death, but it's kind of a silly one in the sense that it could probably have been avoided. xd Well, that's what they think, anyway.

Haha I love humour when it comes to the afterlife. I always such at first lines too xD

I've never really written about any kind of afterlife before, though I have wanted to previously. This time it's exciting because it's something new - and yet there is an element of, y'know, real life in there too. Yay for crossing genres! xD

Genre's are meant to cross, dynamics! Haha, you gotten started on it yet?

Yeah, I got my first thousand words written about a week ago, but haven't touched it since due to my exam. I'm thinking I might cut out the first couple hundred words though, because they're kind of boring and don't even develop character very well...

It's always good to reflect on your writing and have at least a little something written down.

That's true, indeed. : )

I guess I'm kind of putting the writing off until exams are over and I don't feel guilty for writing. During my A levels I always got a super attack of guilt after having written if I should have been revising, and although this year I have much longer between each of my three exams (try two weeks XD) I still don't want the guilt. I'll be guilty enough celebrating my birthday on the 20th, since I have an exam then, baha.

Haha I definitely know the feeling. It's just if I spent all my time revising and working, I wouldn't process any as I'd be too tired! I see writing as relaxing for a little bit xD

Ooo and birthday soon!

Yes! Exciting. 19 seems so OLD though. All of a sudden, haha.

At the moment I've been doing nothing as my relaxing. I just don't seem to have the energy to revise, socialise, read AND write. I'm only human! And it's very warm in this room... ninja Mwaha.

It isn't old xD I know how you feel with all these different things, this year has been the hardest yet to juggle!

Surprisingly, I wrote more last year than I have done this year, even though I'm taking a creative writing degree! xd I guess the whole experience of being away from home takes a lot of my focus, and meeting new people and experiencing new things. I think I'm also lazier this year. There's less to do during the days, so I get lazier and lazier. >_>

I blame university for lowering my standards for just about anything. Haha.

Oh no! I doubt I would fall under that...well hopefully anyway. Writing is all I ever do xD

That's how I used to be! I think doing creative writing here is half my problem though. I'm surrounded by talented writers 24/7, and now I'm losing confidence because I argue that there's no way I can possibly be as good as them. Not to mention, the fun of the first draft has been sucked away by the dazzling desire to write perfectly. Whatever happened to writing for fun? gonk
PostPosted: Sat May 08, 2010 10:36 am
Christ, if you aren't talented, I must be crap on a shoe! Haha, your writing is great and I think mine is average. So, doom for me!
I do hope writing stays fun for me. I understand people have different writing styles and just because they write 'perfectly' doesn't mean it is right. After all, the most famous of writers are those with a rather quirky, non-perfect writing style. smile

That's definitely true! I think I just generally have really low self-esteem and confidence. Once the summer comes around though, I'm sure things will pick up. It will seem more like I'm writing for me then, so quality won't matter!
