Dawnpaw padded over to the lake, and the sight that appeared in front of him made his blood curl. Firesong lay there, drenched in blood. As he looked down at his claws, he realized that he was drenched in blood as well, her blood. He let out an agonized yowl in his dream that carried out to real life, tossing in his sleep.

Firesong's fur stood on end when she heard Dawnpaw's yowl. "Dawnpaw, Dawnpaw!" She moved closer to his bed. "Dawnpaw, wake up!"

Dawnpaw's eyes burst open and he looked up. He saw Firesong staring down at him and his eyes brimmed with sorrow.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry.." he whimpered, curling up into a ball.

Firesong nuzzled the young apprentice gently. "It's all right, Dawnpaw. Please-" she broke off, sounding as though she were about to sob. "Please don't cry, little one..."

((Lol Well, he is sick. And he is afraid of actually killing someone now. xd ))

Dawnpaw looked up at Firesong.

"Firesong, you have to believe me. I didn't realize I was going to hurt you. I don't know what came over me..." he mewed, feeling the need of making her understand.

Firesong was one of the few cats he respected, and he had already gained the hatred of one of them, and the distrust of another. He couldn't afford to loose Firesong as well. At least Blazewhisper seemed to not feel any lesser towards him, and for that, he did feel grateful.

But how long will that last... he wondered, looking down at his paws again.

Blazewhisper licked his ear. "We all dont look down on you becuase of this. It's all right...." For once Blazewhisper thought she felt like she knew what it ment to be a mother. When she thought about it she never had a compaion and she felt very lonely.

Waterpaw brusted in the den with tears in her eyes. "Dawnpaw are you okay!?"

Firesong purred reassuringly. "I know, Dawnpaw. I know you didn't mean it...and i'm not really hurt, see?" She stood up, doing a full turn to show that she wasn't hurt. She sat back down and looked at Dawnpaw. "I want you to know that you can stay in here as long as you feel like you need to. And, if you need to come back, don't hesitate, okay? My den will never be closed to you."

Dawnpaw looked up gratefully at the medicine cat and at his mentor. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by Waterpaw entering the den at full speed. He stood up and nodded.

"Just a few scratches," he assured her, raising his head and puffing his chest. "I feel somewhat better now. Thank you, Firesong, Blazewhisper," he mewed, looking at each in turn, and giving a respectful nod to each of them.

"You don't think Kindlestar will throw me out, do you?" he suddenly asked, sounding worried.

waterpaw licked her paw. "no worries if they were going to do that they would have done it all ready." She mewd skiping next to him

Firesong shook her head. "I don't think so. She's upset...but she's not one to turn her back on another. Besides, if she were going to kick you out, i think she would have done it by now." A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes. "But i'd avoid calling her Shortystar for a while." Firesong purred in amusement. Yes, she knew about Dawnpaw's nickname for the leader, and almost called her that once.
