*happily is munching on some kettle corn* blaugh Hiya everyone! I'm feelin' much happier now...mostly due to reading Antonia's advice and the other part because kettle corn always makes me happy (weell, ever since I discovered it recently anyway) and also because I just finished praying and started listening to my Peace CD. All of that is making me soo much happier now. 3nodding Just wanted to let everyone know that! heart

Glad you're de-stressing. I'm absolutely bonkers for Kettle Corn- particularly the fresh kind you get at amusement parks. The genuine kettle corn is amazing, the perfect blend of sugar and salt. biggrin

So, I started reading Vampire Knight today, and it's made me wonder: What is it about vampires that is so da*n sexy? It doesn't seem to matter what I read, it's still a turn on. Manga just seems to make things worse, since it offers visual aids twisted

Vampires have for a long time represented unsuppressed sensuality, seduction, and sex. Specifically they have represented peoples' fears about these things, just as werewolves represent the fear of human wildness.

I. Hate. My. Job.

We're stuck in a heatwave, and of course the cheapskate manager won't put ac in the back with the employees, huge pizza ovens, fridges and food. I had to deal with measuring out and spreading half-melted cheese all day. Disgusting. Plus my manager (who hates me) is back from holidays. He was back on my case over every little thing I wasn't doing correctly. (I wasn't doing them wrong exactly, I was just taking a shortcut because we were busy.

I'm trying really hard to remember that this is temporary.

Happier is good! I hope you remain happier for a while.

So, check out a bit of irony that beset ol' HH today:

It's around 90 degrees and I'm out and about, so I decide to slide by the snowball stand after gassing up the car. At a stop light, there were people from a nearby church collecting donations. Though I am, at the very least, an apathetic agnostic, I can appreciate the sort of dedication it takes to stand in 90 degree heat, wearing your Sunday best and asking strangers for donations so I decide to contribute 50 cents to the cause (it could have been for a death ray, for all I know. I wasn't paying attention). I get to the snowball stand and order a cherry snowball, but didn't have the extra 50 cents to put marshmallow on it!

I grumbled as I enjoyed my snowball.

As an agnostic there may or may not be a heaven with a marshmallow waiting for you. If not, perhaps someday I won't be so broke and I can come visit you and buy you a snow cone WITH the mystical mash of mallow.

BTW HH- I found this site called JobVent.com Both my company and Toys R' Us made the no no list (Toys R' Us was further up, and I believe listed twice with different spelling).

All I read at first glance was "snowball" and that perked me up enough to read more mainly b/c I'm soooo hot and I don't even have the slightest clue why (maybe it's the dang humidity -- and what's in my room as well). Anyway, hopefully we can all enjoy some cool relief from our warm/hot spells lately! 3nodding

Haha! Husband works at the toy store that shall not be named. He's worked there for almost 9 years now. It's actually where we met at. Just fyi. twisted

{moderately long post} Well, today seems (pardon my "French" and cliche'-ness here) to have gone to hell in the handbasket. confused sweatdrop Everything on my "to do list" seems to have now gone up in smoke as my uncle came over to help us sort all our mess with the credit card company and get back on the right track again, but it took until about 10:30 a.m. (he arrived at about 8:30 a.m.) and then Mom and I went to FedEx/Kinkos to fax all the papers and other documents. We then went for a few groceries for tonight's dinner (BLTs blaugh ). When we arrived home, Steven decided that we should all go to McDonald's for lunch (we also did breakfast there...breakfast is a lot better than lunch/dinner for me anyway). So we got back from McDonald's just about 1/2 hour ago and now I just cleaned up my eBay page and checked on our listing that we're selling (a riding lawn mower tractor deck). Now that it's 1:30 p.m. I don't have much time before getting dressed and ready for Mass at 5:00 p.m. I want to clean the rest of my room, but I might "trap" myself and be unable to change clothes in time for Mass. sweatdrop What's a girl to do?! So I guess I'll just have to put things on hold until tomorrow again. 3nodding Well, we'll just hope and pray that everything works out with the credit card company and we'll be all set to go again soon. Oh so sleepy! Maybe I'll go take a nap or something...I dunno. Sorry about the long post. {/end of moderately long post}

Punk, I'm glad you didn't manage to make it to Big Valley Jamboree this year. (That would be the big country music festival in my town.) It was just hit with what may as well be called a tornado and the stage collapsed. While a band was on it. There are huge numbers of casualties, one confirmed death. My town is in a state of emergency and shock. I'm still trying to confirm that everyone I know is alive, as well as staying out of the way of emergency crews.

I'm glad you're alright and, as you said, Punk didn't attend. That has to be shocking and scary. I pray your loved ones will out turn up safe and accounted for. That really is tragic- one of those things you just don't expect-- did the storm start and they just continued to play or did it really hit so sudden?

We had less than two minutes of warning. Went from sunny, beautiful skies to doom and destruction. Here's the news as I know it now.

I believe I have accounted for everyone I might have known there, and they're all ok.

That is both astonishing and scary. It's good to know all your loved ones are safe.
