Silverpaw sighed, but then nodded, still 'looking' at the ground. "ok," she said to Warpaw. Then Silverpaw when to her bed of moss and layed down. She closed her eyes and just layed there, unable to sleep.

Kindlestar gave Blazewhisper a serious look at those words. "I wouldn't have assigned you as a mentor for Dawnpaw if I had any doubt of your abilities, Blazewhisper. There is no doubt that your strength lies in your power. Wasn't it always you who claimed that Sharpclaw, you and myself were the elite fighting trio? You were the strong, Sharpclaw was the fast and I..." she cut off short, noticing that she was going to finish it the same way Blazewhisper did. And I was the one with the funny pelt who served as bait... she thought bitterly to herself. She licked one white paw while she wondered what to say instead.

"I know that you have it in you to be a mentor yet. Dawnpaw was never going to be an easy to look after apprentice. Just give it time and I am sure that he will come around. Just keep an eye out for him. I have noticed one thing about him, and I think it is the one thing that we have been failing at. He shows a small amount of respect for his brother and for Firesong... in his own way. Maybe if you showed him you trust him, he might open more to you and become a better cat for it," she advised her friend, hoping she was right.

Dawnpaw looked at Firesong in surprise. "I thought that medicine cats couldn't fight. Not a surprise I guess, as Thorpaw is one of the best wrestlers," he purred, showing pride for his brother's strength.

Firesong nodded. "Yes i noticed that thornpaw has good fighting skills. He'll make a fine warrior or medicine cat. You'll make an excellent warrior too, you know."
She looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, I think Blazewhisper was talking to the leader, so if you want you could ask to be taken hunting or something. If he says no, my offer's still open."

Dawnpaw flattened his ears at this and spat. "I am not going to ask for her permission. She never takes me out unless she feels like it anyways, and she is way too depressed to pay attention to me anyways. Let's go you and me. You are medicine cat, I'm sure they won't mind," he meowed, referring to his mentor and to his leader.

Firesong didn't bother to rebuke him. "Okay. Let me check on Sharpclaw and I'll meet you at the camp entrance."
Poking her head into the medicine cat den, she quickly noted that Sharpclaw was sound asleep. She left the den and headed for the entrance, passing Silverpaw on the way. "I'm taking Dawnpaw out for a bit." She said softly. That way, if anyone wondered about them, somebody would know.

Firesong reached the entrance quickly and said "Alright. You want to hunt or fight?" She darted out the camp entrance, motioning for Dawnpaw to follow.

[I just got back from my middle school. = w = We needed to get our lockers and stuff. I'm so tired. DX]

Thornpaw yawned. "That was a good nap." He looked over to his mentor's nest, It was empty. "Firesong must had woken up already." Thornpaw shooked the moss off his pelt and bounced to his paws. He padded to the clearing where he spotted a few apprentices and warriors; turning his gaze to the entrance, he spotted Firesong and Dawnpaw. Thornpaw cocked his head then shrugged. He didn't need to know what his brother and Firesong was doing.

Dawnpaw followed Firesong and shrugged. "As long as it makes me stronger, I'll go for any. I suppose hunting would be good. I can use some hunting techniques and combine them with fighting moves eventually, right?" he asked curiously, sounding like a harmless apprentice for once.

Firesong nodded. She walked towards the fire pond, where hunting was always good. "Alright. I can't do much until i know how much you know, so why not show me what you can do, okay?"

Dawnpaw followed the medicine cat, his ears perked up as he kept alert for any prey. He opened his mouth to taste the air, and soon caught the scent of rabbit, the most common form of prey in FireClan, in the air. He remembered how after his first catch he hadn't had much luck catching any other rabbits, and his tail flicked with annoyance at the though.

Focus, he thought to himself, as he crouched and nodded at Firesong to let her know that he was going to try and hunt it.

Firesong stood still, so as not to make any noise.

((Gotta go to work. be back in about three hours.))

((Gah!!! Don't say work!!! I is going to be stuck at that for 13 hours tomorrow. emo ))

Dawnpaw started stalking the rabbit, then noticed the little creature close by. It was much smaller than the last one he had seen, possibly a baby. He noticed the rabbit perking up it's ears and looking straight at him, but it was too late. Dawnpaw had pounced the small creature and pinned it down.

The rabbit squealed in fright and tried to make him let go, but he took his jaws around it's back neck and crushed his neck, blood entering his mouth, making him grateful he had eating before coming out with Firesong.

Blazewhisper licked kindlestar's ear. "yea your right. ..... how have you been though?"

waterpaw ran around the camp looking for something to do

Kindlestar got up and looked out, realizing it was dawn. "The night is over, it is time to bury Dewpool," she mewed, avoiding the question. "Blazewhisper, I want you to take Opalheart and Ghostclaw out with you to bury her. It should be taken care of by family. Don't take Sharpclaw though, she needs the rest," she meowed, stating the last sentence firmly to let her know it was not debatable.
