I accepted his hearth and hospitality. It made me his, for all intents and purposes. There's probably more that happened that I'm not aware of, but the pertinent bit is that's when I became Asatru and shortly thereafter I gave myself the kenning "Grimsdottir".

Ah, well that clears things up a bit...
I had this odd image of Odin, in a dark ally, motioning you in, and then opening his coat to reveal his stash of Sacred Salmon and Terrible Tators, offering enlightenment if you just take a bite... first nibble is free... sweatdrop

It's mixed, actually. Sometimes you HAVE to eat the food, like needing to eat the salmon of wisdom to understand the animals who save you from the bad people.

Odin fed me fish and potatoes. It didn't teach me to hear animals, though. cry

In the context of the movie, it was a pretty clear case of sneaking into an entity's home to burgle it, and further aggravating the violation of hospitality by stealing food. Not to mention the parallels and twists on the tale to Persephone and Hades that the movie had... Eat food somewhere, and you are stuck there. ninja
Such. A Good. Movie! Have to watch it again just to pick up the nuances...

It seemed to prefer art. Now corn, corn was all ears.
*winces* Ouch. whee

Unfortunately, Frigga put him on a diet for his cholesterol so it was stew instead. I've heard he sneaks Midgard-side for a spot of fried food when he can, though. whee

Have you had the experience run the other way ?
Where you have introduced a diety to a food they would have had access to when they walked the material plane as we do ?

I didn't do it myself but I hear the Egyptian gods like chocolate. Their tastes have significantly expanded from bread and beer.

That's lovely.

Now imagine the whole scene playing out to Thomas Lehrer's The Old Dope Peddler in a vaguely Spawn or Shadowrunesque seting. 3nodding

Whiskey! *nods emphatically* Though I might also try chocolate. He tends to like things I enjoy...

I finally found the pagan group on campus today. They're kind of creepy. I want a cool, knowledgeable, and supportive local pagan group like I had in high school, not to waste my time with fluffballs. Is that too much to ask? crying

I think my school's Pagan group closed down, as I can find no info on meeting times anywhere on the campus website.

Nuri: They werent out at festival ISU either, so I think it was disbanded.

They went flakey after the split, and even before then, After Amelia, my latin buddy, graduated.

Look up the Praire Fire Coven, or something like that. They might still be in operation, and they do a few nifty things -- I wonder if their drum circle is still there.

Also, I'll be back in June. smile
