I have been going to Chipotle for a while, then a few years ago, I went to San Francisco and went to a taco place on Fisherman's Wharf, and I thought to myself, "This is so much like Chipotle's, only they had shrimp and whatnot." The like a year ago, I was watching a show that mentioned Chipotle's and the guy who made it up had went to that taco place at Fisherman's wharf and got the idea from that. I think they also said that the parent company is McDonald's of all places.

True.
I was an Assistant Manager when McDs purchased so much stock in Chipotle that they became the controling interest.
They didn't change much, at least nothing to do with the food. domokun

Good thing that, because the only time I can keep MdD's down for a long bit of stretch is if I have some Pepto. That place makes me almost as sick as Taco Bell and Arby's.

I worked at McDonald's on and off for about two years. I'd rather be homeless than ever work there again. The longest stretch of time I worked at one was 13 months. I ended up quitting because a riot broke out in front of the registers.

My best friend worked there when he was in highschool. He was supposed to work like twelve hours a week, and he was lucky if he got one.

They worked me like I was the only employee there, at the first one (the one I stayed at for 13 months). I also got my first raise the month before I quit, which brought me to $.25 over minimum wage (that being $5.30).

There were guys smoking pot in the back room all the time, people stealing things from the store, old men treating it like a retirement home and abusing the free refills, and grumpy employees (of which I was one). Add the fact that the store was smack dab in the middle of the ghetto, and it was quite possibly one of the worst places to ever work. That job was the reason I took up chain smoking.

On that note, I've actually managed to stay quit off of smoking for about two months now. It was my New Year's Resolution.

Thank you. It was insanely hard. I went from smoking a pack a day, to none at all.

Quitters never win.

No, seriously, I'm glad you quit. It's a horrible nasty habit that can kill you, and I'm glad you have the strength of conviction to keep at it.

Of course, I say this right before I go sneak a quick one in before my mom gets off work.

Mainly, the differences are little things like spices and such. I kid mostly because there tends to be New Mexico vs. Texas rivalry over Southwestern cuisine. I've been living in New Mexico for more than a decade now, so I'm personally biased, but I wouldn't actually argue. *lol*

One of the things that really characterizes the difference is the way New Mexico uses chile- nearly any dish you order will come with a choice of red or green chile on top (if you're in the know, you can order "christmas" for both red and green wink ). The chile is in the form of a sauce, usually, but I don't know anyone who calls it sauce.

More green chile, less use of jalapenos than Tex-Mex. Things that stand out for me are our chorizo, which is spiced differently than in other places, and dishes like huevos rancheros, which is very nearly one of the things I'd pick to have on the proverbial desert island. Potatoes also appear as a side instead of rice a fair bit. I highly recommend trying authentic New Mexican food sometime. domokun

...Now I'm hungry.

Hmm...
So, how do y'all feel about Cumin? domokun

Angry Robotics, I have no tolerance for McDs either.
Bleh. xp
Oh, and congratulations on your on going victory over the cigarettes. 3nodding

When I worked at Chipotle, even before I was AM, I got a regular 32 hour work week, mostly because I only wanted 4 days of work.
The free food whenever I wanted it was probably the best perk of the job, and, honestly, right up till the switch over in Regional Management, they treated all employees at our store with honour and courtesy. 3nodding

We're pretty strong in the cumin arena. And cilantro, depending what you're eating.

Cumin is one of my favourites.
Cilantro is really good for ricey dishes. domokun

So, as I said in the Rant thread, our cat, Zeus, is missing. We went to three different animal shelters today, to no luck.

However, we did find Jonah. A large, three year old Domestic Long Hair mix. Some family abandoned him after they brought a puppy into the household. We're still hoping we can find Zeus, and we're going to keep trying the animal shelters. But something drew us to Jonah, and we started the adoption process today. So, tomorrow or Sunday, we should have a new kitty friend in the house.

Back in February I mentioned that I got my first tattoo. Well, a few days ago I finally got it fixed and added a band around my arm:

It's the gemini symbol with 2 flowers- one being bright and orange, the other being grey. It's meant to remind me of the bad times and the good times (personally, depression and happiness).

I'm thinking of getting an astro-tattoo myself. Some kind of combination of the Cancer (Sun sign) and Pisces (Moon and rising sign) glyphs, at some level--either obviously or more...mystically.

Nice tattoos. Very pretty.

Jonah came home with us today. As soon as I get pictures, I'll post them here, so everyone can see our new kitty friend.
