Kindlestar purred as she saw the young kit's reaction. "I will carry out your ceremony right away. I think I have just the mentor for you," she mewed, her eyes shining as she glanced at Dawnkit.

Dawnkit felt his fur prickle as he stared back at the small leader. The way her eyes shined made him worry, but he wasn't about to show her that. "Whoever it is, I can take it," he growled, his tail held high.

FlameWind got up and stretched. "What a dream!" she sighed. She walked over to the fresh kill pile, and sighed again. She chose a magpie from the pile, and walked back to the warriors den.

Sharpclaw walked into camp and placed some fresh-kill onto the pile

Warkit woke up and looked around the nursery

Kindlestar padded towards the fresh-kill pile, hungry after the day's events. She chose a rabbit and nodded at Sharpclaw, asking if she wanted to share it with her.

Dawnpaw strode happily, not believing he was already an apprentice. His tail was held high in pride as he padded over to his brother. "We are apprentices," he meowed, his whiskers twitching with enthusiasm.

((Hey Sharpclaw, you have to warn me when you want Warkit to be apprentice okay?))

FlameWind pricked her ears. A ceremony should cheer her up a bit. Maybe there will be one. Better listen to what KindleStar says.

Oh, how she would love to have an apprentice, even though she knew tht it was near to pointless to hope that she would have an apprentice.

"Hello, KindleStar!" said FlameWind cheerfully. Flamewind knew that the cheer in her voice was fake, and her old friend, KindleStar may hear the fake cheer.

Kindlestar flicked her ears up as Flamewind called to her. "Hello there, Flamewind," she answered, her eyes on Flamewind's. "What's on your mind?" she asked the cat she had almost always shared dens with. She knew her enough to know when something was wrong. She could be overreacting with everything that had been happening lately, but she would much rather be safe than sorry.

"Well, KindleStar, I have a feeling that I will never be fit to be a mentor..."
Flamewind sighed, and sat down, and looked at the ground.

Kindlestar took a bite from her rabbit and sat in deep thought. Usually she would give good advice to her friend on how to impress the leader. She hadn't had a conversation like this since she had become leader herself however, and she flicked her tail awkwardly as she thought. The new kits that would soon become apprentices had already had their mentors chosen, however, Flamewind had shown great promise as a warrior, and she could certainly prove to be an amazing mentor.

Kindlestar raised her head as she swallowed another bite of the rabbit and licked her whiskers to rid them of any bits of rabbit that remained. "I am afraid that there are others that have been warrior much before you or me that are just as willing to prove themselves as mentors as you are. I have no doubt that your skill is amazing, Flamewind... as I have hunted besides you and gone on many a patrol with you. However, times are rough, and there aren't as many kits as there should be... I mean, look at Lovekit and Silverkit? Lovekit is deaf and Silverkit is blind... how could I ever make warriors of those two without worrying that they will not be able to defend themselves as well as the rest in battle? Especially Lovekit. She cannot even hear, imagine what mentoring her would be like..." she mewed, her ears flat as she thought of the two kits that she would have to turn into elders against her will, and with the need for warriors that she had.

"But still, each of them has their other senses to rely on. Lovekit, you see, has very keen eyesight and sense of smell. Silverkit, being blind, has better hearing and sense of smell than most cats. Both of them, if they are taught a certain way, may even be better warriors than many many other cats. As an apprentice myself, I had dreamed off being blind, or even deaf, and I noticed that my other senses had gotten stronger, and I could easily move around."
