Wow, Tea. Sounds fun. 3nodding
I think it will be.

I've been looking here to find something to wear... and someplace else for what goes under the outfit.

I'm also torn between my intense hatred for things that aren't pants, and my desire to be "pretty" for Valentine's Day

Well, those are very pretty. 3nodding

I have a similar problem. Such things as completely resenting my mother's pleas that I shave for business occasions when I'll be wearing pants and long-sleeved shirts anyway, and being told by an etiquette expert that I MUST wear makeup and a skirt in order to be sufficiently business-like. Um, no.

But I do enjoy wearing "pretty" things when I feel like it. Or it's drag night. whee

Y'know, Tea, pretty things are often found in unlikely places.

Have you raided the local charity/thrift shops yet? I find pretty much all of my nicest clothes come second hand. Nice pants, beautiful dresses (if Wing can attest to the white silk dress I wore to Fibbers a few months ago... I did literally stop people in their tracks.), and wonderfully cheap. Dresses worth hundreds of Euro for only a tenner.

For here is the truth: Everything you would pay hundreds for you can usually find in a charity shop three years later (and in the case of dresses, usually virtually unworn). Why spend shitloads on designer crap when it all comes nearly free in a few years' time?

Why? Because I have never had a good Valentine's Day.

Because my youth was spent being told I am to fat to be pretty. Thus having only had a few solid relationships- one of which I was dumped the day before Valentine's Day and left with a pretty dress that went unworn, tickets to a dance that I didn't attend, a tux for the guy I had been dating and the food I was going to cook for a romantic dinner. The next several years were followed by a boyfriend who had his birthday on Valentine's Day and he never lifted a single finger to make me feel special or loved.

My husband and I haven't had the money where he was able to buy me flowers, let alone treat me to anything special like this for the three and a half years we have been married.

The question isn't price. The question is Pants or Things-that-aren't-Pants.

Ultimately, it's up to you. I've seen some people in pants and a gorgeous shirt stop traffic practically. Dresses usually are considered to be more formal/ fancy in my experience, but either way you will probably look fabulous to your husband. ^_^

I saw a couple dresses, and some nice pants. Guess the hard part is finding a top.

Congratulations on being able to do something special for Valentine's Day this year Tea. I, personally, would suggest a dress in your favorite color with a very personal necklace.

Ah I see. Well I hope you find something nice. I just mentioned charity shops not only because I'm a cheap student with no money but because you often find some really nice stuff there that you can't get anywhere else.

But that's beside the point. Wear whatever you like, because when you're in love you look gorgeous in everything.

I've had the worst running luck with boyfriends out of everyone I know. I've also always been single for valentine's day.

I hope you have a really wonderful one.

I've gotten tired of the fact that Barry isn't re-banned on sight due to Rule 5 of the ToS. I've started yet another petition for more mods; if anyone would like to sign, feel free.

Bobby, my significant other, bought me a puppy today! whee

He is so precious!

He is a six week old American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
I've named him Managarm. heart

That brings my house hold to NINE heathens. No wonder I've been so busy...

I think I'd probably go one step further than that.
When you're a person as beautiful as Tea is, you look gorgeous in everything.
Much like a rose, it doesn't matter about the vase. Just watch out for the thorns wink

Much as I love the sentiment behind such petitions, trust me when I say the situaiton is more complicated than I can say. sweatdrop On both counts.

Tea, I love that site. I think I may toss it my mom's way for clothing ideas. I need more attractive tops, and all the v-neck ones in the stores have those awful short sleeves that make me look like I have five foot upper arms. sweatdrop

ALso on that note - exercise tonight! I didn't manage healthy food today, but I can manage at least 30 minutes on the bike watching my TV boyfriend.

Hmm...
Valentine's Day...
Do I:
1. Drink myself stupid and sing angsty songs late into the night.
2. Sneak a random rose to someone unsuspecting of it.
or
3. Franticly scramble to solidify amorphous interactions arround me into something romantic in a desperate attempt to not be a gibbering wreck...

Oh and on an aside, Pan's Labyrinth was very much fun.
It doesn't pull any punches tho, so the squeamish should avoid it. 3nodding

I like Valentines day. My third boyfriend, Lucius, brought me candy he had bought for me then. Only boyfriend I had over Valentines day; both of the others seemed prone to dumping me before any major holidays. 3nodding

I don't know what I'll do this year.
