Firesong spotted some Borage plants and walked up to them. She turned to Thornkit and said, "These are Borage plants. See the blue flowers? They help you recognize the plant, but you don't use them. The pale leaves are good for fighting fever though, and the seeds are given to queens. Can you guess why?" She began pulling some borage leaves. Really, this was mostly for her own benefit, to help her own memory, but it felt good not to be talking to herself for once.

"To increase their milk supply?" mewed Thornkit.

"vrrh gghd". She rolled her eyes, dropping the leaf in her mouth and repeated, "very good. I'll grab some seeds and then we can keep looking." She dug a good amount of seeds out of the flowers and wrapped them in a leaf. She tucked the leaves and seeds in a small hollow in a nearby tree. "let's just leave the stuff here till we're ready to come back." Seeing Thornkit looking so happy to help emboldened Firesong some. "okay, here's another question: what herb is very good at curing greencough and whitecough, but is very difficult to get ahold of?"

(hint: cat's really like it!)

Firesong nodded. She was delighted to have such an apt pupil. "problem is, it is really hard to find, except in one place: Twoleg gardens. On the other side of the territory is a place that Twolegs come during the hottest days. And they have catmint growing there. They shouldn't be there right now, but the catmint should be. You up for a little expedition?"

Firesong laughed. "well, not exactly mint. it's really good though, so it's going to be hard not to eat some. I know you can do it, though." Firesong picked up her pace, running through the grass, though still at an easy pace. She loved to run around the plain, though she didn't often get the chance anymore. "Keep watch for birds Thornkit, and snakes. they might be hiding in the grass." She slowed down a bit more. No sense in rushing, she reasoned. there was no telling when Kindlestar's meeting would be over, and she didn't want to tire out Thornkit.

Thornkit followed Firesong at a easy pace. "I'll try not to eat any."

Lovekit opened her eyes and got up, She walked around inside the medicine cat den and saw a small hole leading outside, She crawled outside and saw a butterfly, then she started to chase it.

Firesong crossed the river and headed for the far edge of Fireclan territory. This put them very close to Woodclan. She soon spotted the Twoleg nest. It looked deserted. Best of all, she could see a generous amount of Catmint growing nearby.

"See the long stalks with lavender flowers? That's catmint. C'mon, help me gaher some." She began pulling catmint, the lovely scent instantly filling the air.
