So, I listen to a lot of Christmas songs. I like quite a few of them. And every year, with all the songs I hear, I still think "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is one of the creepiest songs I've ever heard.

Happy Yule everyone!!! Last night was the shortest night of the year; it officially can't get any worse. whee
Don't you mean it was the shortest day? whee

But yesterday was lovely. The light here was fantastic. I've been getting all seasonal too. I played loads of christmas carols with my students and everything. They really enjoy them. Especially because they're quite good songs. "Silent Night" is my favorite. They're so memorable and easy to sing that I often find myself singing carols until well into spring!

And "Deck the Halls" is the most pagan christmas carol I can think of. It doesn't mention Christ at all, which makes you think it was possibly an earlier song that was adapted to the changes in religious climate. wink

The Solstice was at 22 minutes past midnight our time on the morning of the 22nd. I celebrated on the 21st anyway because I think that means the 21st was still the shortest day of the year.

I think that puts the Solstice on the 21st for you guys because it must have happened around 4:22 in the afternoon on the West Coast. Unless I'm getting my time conversions wrong... sweatdrop

Men are impossible to shop for!

How the hell am I supposed to find a Christmas present for my brother when I keep finding cooler stuff for myself?! stressed

Just figure out what he likes and go from there. Although I do think some, not all, women are easier to shop for. Those liquid soap packages and the bath tub stuff so. I personally have a sneezing fit from all of that stuff, but whatever makes someone else happy I guess.

Oh yeah, does anyone like my new siggy? or do they find it offensive?

There's a particular store in town that sells natural soaps and stuff that I absolutely detest. It makes me nautious every time I walk past it, and I usually have to hold my breath. Awful place. I can't breathe inside.

A lot of women are not that easy. I hate fancy bath crap. It shows a lack of effort on the shopper's part because they obviously don't know me very well if they're buying me cosmetics. Same goes for perfume. I'm surprisingly difficult to shop for, apparently. sweatdrop

I finally found something for my brother too. I hope he likes it.

Seriously. I think the last time I got bath stuff was from classmates who really didn't like me that much in middle school. Books and music, or the wherewithal to obtain them are always good, or really need things that I might not have expected. A kit to make and color paper airplanes shaped like specific birds, or a telescope. whee

Sure, why not? It's the cool thing to be these days.

Seriously? Not completely. I just find that my moral code developed in time-delayed parallel to that of Satanism and thus I asked Pirate to chuck me on the list.

Hey, it beats being called "Elitist Gardnerian Traditionalist" all the time.

Given the choice among "Christian apologetic", "Elitist Gardnerian Traditionalist", and "Satanist", I'll go with being called by the religion whose morals and practices mirror my own.

So Laveyan I be, in all but name I suppose. wink
