XD I always ask to see a watermarked/scribbled all over version before I complete the trade, too. :B That way, if I want to give a tip, I can do it at that time instead of starting another trade.

I had a trade for a million and all I got after 6 months were a line-fast-sketch =_= (at least, she gave it to me for free)

Its just too much of a hassle to find good art. I hate that generic anime look and chibis. I like my art to look different. :B And that's hard to find. On top of that, its hard to find artists that will actually follow through.
