Now playing: He Is We - His Name

Lay awake at night - cry, you know it's not alright to feel like you're falling into nothing...

Today has been a nice day, and somewhat satisfying in terms of writing. Though I've only written 1k, that's in keeping with my goal to get me into the regular swing of writing again after a blustery NaNoWriMo, and I'm pleased with what I've written. Hopefully the novel should be finished within a few weeks. :3

We had our flat christmas dinner tonight, too, and it's all decorated and pretty. It's put me in a good mood. Tomorrow I have a creative writing class, and after that I may write for a little bit before going out for some drinks tomorrow night with flat mates. Life is not as bad as I usually make out. XP

Words written today: 1,048

Word count: 68,665

Lines for today:

“Automobile. A car. Isn’t it gorgeous? It’s not mine, but if I owned one it would be just like this.”

In truth it is a relatively beat-up old thing, with a dent in its bonnet, but I still think it’s the most wonderful thing I have seen yet since waking up. More than the lightbulbs, this thing seems so exotic to me I can’t wait to touch it, to run my fingers along the dark metal that reflects the wisps of cloud in the sky like they are ribbons made of snow. I smile, realising that until now my mouth has been gaping open like that of a fish out of water.

I'm haunted and know I should be afraid...

Ooo it all sounds very interesting. You are in a flat? Two of my friends are going up to UEA next year smile

I hope your writing picks up soon! Going home for a while will probably help you!

Well, I'm in uni accommodation, but they're grouped into flats. Here at UEA, in the particular housing I'm in, there are about five blocks, each split into four or five floors, and each floor is a flat with between 8 and 13 people. :] It's different in other accommodation here, but they're all split into flats.

It's nice because I have a person on my course in my flat, and two other creative writing students, plus a few other humanities guys, so it's a really creative flat. We decorated it up awesomely for the Christmas meal - you can tell we're all artists in one form or another!

I hope my writing picks up too. It's not been great over the past couple of days, but I've not been very well. And today I doubt I'll write much, because working with a hangover is never an advisable option. xd

Yes, working with a hangover is impossible xD The accomodation seems very nice, I hope that I get cool flatmates otherwise I am royally screwed! As long as you are having fun!

I do love my flatmates. I'm still incredibly homesick though, and that is making a huge impact on how social I am with them. It makes me feel so incredibly guilty. XD

And yes, hungover writing WAS impossible. I've not written for days. It's like, one step forward three steps back. gonk Today. Today I will do some writing. It's only 1,000 words (and at the rate I'm going, 1k a day will NOT have this novel finished in time. x____x; ). I CAN do this.

Yeah, I am. It makes it harder because I miss him especially. I'm looking forward to that month off at Christmas, if just because I'll be able to see him much more often. :3

It's rough, being away from your boyfriend for so long. I really miss my boyfriend when I don't see him for two days, lol.

Same here. And that's the problem! But, we're living with it. He comes to see me whenever he can, which is great. And I often go to see him (and pop home while I'm at it because he's at a uni quite close to where we both live). I like weekends where we see each other, otherwise it's pretty hard. I guess I'll just have to deal with it though.

Yes indeed!

Ah, no writing for a couple of days. I'm going home tomorrow, so tonight will be busy, and tomorrow will be also. By the weekend I should be writing again though. =D

Now playing: We Will Rock You Cast - Somebody to Love

Each morning I get up I die a little, can barely stand on my feet - take a look in the mirror and cry, Lord, what you doing to me?

Oh my god! This is my first journal entry of 2010! I can't believe I waited this long to post. I've been very naughty, neglected my writing duties and letting myself descend into a homesick fuelled, incredibly neglectful depression . This shall not carry on!

Today I told myself that I have to learn to be more positive, and honestly today has been pretty sweet. Sure, I haven't done everything that I intended to do - but on a writing front, it's the best day I've had in weeks! I wrote 2,000 words (which is more than I've written in AGES), and I feel like I'm really getting somewhere with my novel. Perhaps I will have it finished in time to edit for a paperback proof copy after all.

From today onwards I'm going to make it my goal to post in here every day again. Okay, that might not be possible considering how busy I am, but I shall try to do it and see if that encourages the writing process.

I took up yoga before Christmas, and I've been doing it most days since then. It's really helping me to feel better about myself (because I'm more flexible now, even if I haven't lost weight yet), and I think it will be good to combine this with my writing practice. I'm really looking forward to making 2010 a more productive (and less moaning, self-loathing, depressing) year! It's going to be great.

Now for my yoga, and to do some of that reading I neglected early in my coffee-fuelled writing craze. =P

Lines for today:

For a moment I do not understand what he is saying, the warmth of the bath sapping the energy to think from my mind. The amnesia doesn’t last long, however. Esmeralde. Esmeralde. Among my dreams there must have been moments of waking life, for she is familiar in two senses now. A shiver makes its way down my spine. I sink lower into the bath.

At the end I take home my broken heart all on my own. I get down on my knees and I start to pray till the tears run down from my eyes...
