I will do! I'll do my very best to keep active and stuff online when I go to university, which shouldn't be too difficult considering I'm doing a creative writing degree and will probably therefore still have deadlines to meet. XP You know how it is though, you get busy and then it's difficult to put Gaia before actually doing work - or worse, you do put it first and end up learning a very valuable (if quickly forgettable) lesson: work must always come before play. wahmbulance

Haha. I'm sure everything will be fine. I got a new rucksack today, so that's pretty much all my stuff bought for uni now. I just have a few random bits to sort out, but for the rest of the two weeks I have left at home I can write, and read when I get my reading list. =D

Hahaha, so how many points did you need for your course?
I'm looking at Royal Holloway...eek!

Erm, I needed ABB, with at least a B in English Lit. So... I'm not sure about points, but it was okay.

Ooooh, Royal Holloway! What kind of course did you settle on then? : )

Sorry about the delayed reply! I'm finally settled in at uni now. My room is lovely with a fab view, so soon I should be able to get writing again. In fact, I have a creative writing seminar tomorrow - though since it's my first I doubt we'll be doing too much, haha.

Oooo! Sounds like fun. At Holloway I want English and Writing Joint Honours haha. It's posh...but its a choice haha.

It sounds awesome. 3nodding

Our creative writing seminars are a blast. Our seminar leader is most DEFINITELY an author - kinda crazy with a few amazing quirks - and our class is really good too. We have a nice mix of people.

I have a portfolio due in in a couple of weeks, so I should work on that before NaNoWriMo rolls around and I haven't done it. >_>

Actually, I didn't look there. I heard about it while I was applying, but by that point I'd already decided on my universities, so there was no need to look. XP

I'm in love with UEA. It's wonderful. <3 I have a fantastic view out of my window, too, which is great for the writing. =3

How is the course going overall?

So far the course is fantastic. We're doing a module called "Imagining America" at the moment, where we look at American literature since the settlement and how views on the US changed, and then there's my creative writing module which is amazing. XD And, I'm also on a module called "Study and Research Skills" which is actually just about culture in the 1960s in America. XD

It's great. I mean, stressful? YES. Absolutely. I've already handed one assignment and am already working on my second (with research and EVERYTHING... XD) but it's worth it, I hope.

I just hope I get good grades, really.

On the plus side: I get a scholarship when I go abroad for the year of £1,000 because of my good A level grades. Yay! =D

In my A levels? ABB, and also another A in general studies, haha. It's enough to get me a scholarship though. =3

Wow, that is great marks! I'm now taking five A Levels, but I don't have to go to General lessons, just teach myself xD

I would have done better if it hadn't been for my RSI, and a teacher not teaching us one module for the Literature one. XD Never mind. I got into my uni! That's all people care about now. =P

Now playing: Lenka - Anything I'm Not

Oh, why is the world so cruel to me when all I ever want to be is anything I'm not?

I'm SO SORRY! So, I know, another massive apology because of being inactive. This time I swear I have reasons for it, though? Basically, university has been really hectic recently. I've been really homesick, so I decided the best way to counteract that would be to do lots and lots of work, thereby keeping myself too busy to get upset. So far, it's worked.

But now, it's two weeks until the end of the semester, and I've finished all the work I have to do (bar the weekly reading which only takes up a few hours a week), and am free once more! Whilst I know this will probably lead to more homesickness, I'm hoping the looming promise of a month at home for Christmas will keep my spirits up while I wait! And in the meantime, I need something to occupy me in these next two weeks. That means it's time to do some more writing. >D

During November I wrote around 70,000 words for NaNoWriMo, but aside from the wordcount the month was pretty depressing in terms of novelling. I started two different novels, both of which are unlikely ever to be worked on again. On the other hand, I did get all of my university work done, including a 20 page creative writing portfolio, which I'm happy about.

So, I'm back to this guild, determined to be active, with a new goal. Starting today, I plan on getting my novel (started in the summer) Gunmetal and Lace finished by the end of the month. I can do it!

Current total word count: 67,209

Recent favourite lines:

I sit up and reach for my neck, partly hoping to find a pendant hanging there to justify Regina’s vision. To my dismay I find only skin, and the hollow between my collar bones, empty as always. The necklace from the cellar is still where I hastily stuffed it under my pillow. I draw it out carefully and finger the swooping ‘C’ carefully. I think the owner of it should have been a small girl, beautiful and blonde with loving parents and a carefree life. Despite the sickening feeling in my stomach, the thing makes me smile. Whoever this necklace belonged to, I tell myself, must have been loved very much.

Gimme a break, a little escape. I am so tired of being me. I wanna be free, I wanna be new and different...
