hey! if it makes you feel better, I got bit by a dog today while babysitting.

...how did THAT work??? And are you ok?

They forgot to put the dog in the basement, and while I was petting him, he attacked.

The dog was worse than his bite. I'm fine. no blood at all.

The mother was almost scared that I'd sue!

Sounds unsafe. I'm glad you're ok, though! I had a thoroughly boring week; no one has tried to kill me since the Friday I left for to go to Tea's.

I bet she was! Suing could lead to the dog being killed, too. 8(

It may amuse some of you to know that I'm doing my big lexical research project for my Old English class on the words wicce and wiccecræft and their uses and contexts.

In the town where I was born
lived a pagan who surfed GD
and he told us of his life
hunting down the white fluffy!

So we sailed into the sun,
Till we found a fallacy,
and we lived a life of ease
after hunting down the white fluffy!

We all live in the PFRCG
The PFRCG
The PFRCG
We all live in the PFRCG
The place that we can be
Without that white fluffy!

There is something truly wonderful about that first cup of tea that you've been craving all day

And do people not chat here anymore, or is it just that lousy time difference thing again?

I try to chat, but that's because I'm bored bored bored and a little lonely. emo

I'm trying to work on an Ode. The later bits aren't coming together. I will now bore you all with it.

Ode to the Razor, Choice

Time twists and sheers the limb from tree
Both bark and blood descending free
In time with choice's cruel decree.
Curled in the night
When fears take flight
Beware the sight
Of apples floating on the sea.

Refracting back into the sky
The winds of choice are riding high
White hunters seek and dare and die.
Under the moon
They will come soon
Fast cries the loon -
Your pains are riding passions by.

You cannot bind them -
Free they dance.
You cannot hide them -
Come now chance.
You cannot mind them -
They seek the edge.
You can only bide them -
Cling to the ledge.

Two coursers bright with blood ride past,
Then two of pale and tattered past,
Two more of shadowed scar the last
With screams of fear
Pale rider's spear -
Collapse the steer
Of hope and dream the sun had cast.

...and I run out of steam. emo

You're looking very angelic today! Pretty. 3nodding

It's a good ode. Is it set to any particular music? It has a lovely rhythm for a good melody.

It needs another two verses to mimic the first two i order to be "done". Plus, where it left off sucks.

Nope, no music; composition of such isn't a strong point of mine; I've only written two lullabies. I'm trying to combine the assonance and rhythm emphasis of old Norse poetry with the rhyming of southern European styles with an emphasis on threes due to the nature of the inspiration.

Aha... Interesting.

Oddly enough, I'm currently procrastinating from my counterpoint work. The rhyming structure would make your poetry suit well to a contrapuntal melody line.

Especially if you wanted to emphasise the threes, as much counterpoint is worked in intervals of thirds and sixths.

Of course, then you would also need someone to sing it with you because the whole point behind the method is the interweaving of melodic lines.

Ooo, fugues! I adore fugues. I should poke and see if I have the disc of classical music with the fugues on it; that might sooth me a bit.

I'm a fraid my comprehension of music is currently limited to singing and rpeetition, though; I can't even read notes. sweatdrop I ended up leaving lessons before she taught me because it seemed silly to spend that much money on something I used only for my own pleasure, especially when I was avoiding singing in front of anyone. I may pick it up in grad school, though.

Hell, if you can't spend money on pleasure, what can you spend it on?

I've been considering resurrecting my music thread. If there's anything you'd like to know I may be able to write up a short thing on it for you and post it there.

That and I hate to see all the work I put into that thread consigned to the second page. wink
