A gas main just exploded no more than 10 feet from where I was standing. I'm 100% physically uninjured. The metal plate on top of it spun in just the right way to leave an arc of about 20 degrees where no debris was scattered. I'm shaking, re-evaluating everything in my life. I came very very close to dying but apart from a mild headache and some light buzzing in my ears, I'm ok.

The statistic chances of my having survived that unharmed are minute. I'd just like to thank the Gods for this and let you all know that you mean an awful lot to me. Gaia, and in particular the PFRG, keeps me sane. I hate my job. It's thankless and I get insulted by the owner on a quasi-regular basis. But I get unrestricted unchecked internet access and you people are my friends.

Just before it happened, I'd had a horrible day in work. My boss was being a d**k, outrightly offending me, undermining me in front of the whole office on things he knows jack s**t about. I was suffering from post holiday blues. I was depressed.
Then, bang, rocks fall, nobody dies.
It was bad from a property damage point of view, but I was sitting there laughing like a madman. This cop comes over and asks me what happened. I say "rocks fall nobody dies" and then snap out of it and fill him in.

eek Lucky escape, Reagun. And may I say, you're taking it with admirable dignity. Many people would still be spooked and trembly for weeks after such a close call. It takes some guts to be evaluating afterward, at any point afterward, calm or not.
