I don't think my girlfriend is pagan--she just falls for them. But she has To Ride a Silver Broomstick on her bookshelf.

I didn't say anything. I just cringed inwardly.

I think that's the worst impact fluffy books have had on the world. It's one thing to have someone claim they are Wiccan after having read some Buckland and Ravenwolf, but it really saddens me when people who don't even profess to be pagan pick up their books because they're curious and those books are popular and think that's a good example of anything.

Morrighan, ancient crone of war...

Lots of people screaming "Kill, maim, fight, slay, die" to this dutch neo-celtic pagan folk band. ninja
It attracts lots of dark fluffies. 3nodding

Dark fluffies are best with a nice Merlot or perhaps a Shiras. 3nodding

What's a Gewurztraminer when it's at home?

Morrigan was described as a crone? Like an old woman? I thought she was a warrior goddess. I would have thought she'd be more like Athena in appearance. You know. Chick in armor or something.

Or do they just lump every non-LALALALAHAPPY goddess in with the crone aspect?

YOU MEAN THE GODDESS OF WICCA????//?/?///

Huh. The only time I see with her described as old is when she went in disguise in the Cu Chulainn myth. But she was in disguise, so that's not like her real self.

Weird.

No, no. Oh, god, no. Oh, crap!

I don't want elections to happen. Orrin Hatch is going to win by landslide, again. The Utah Legistature is going to get that writ of carte blanche they slipped into the desperately needed transit tax proposal. And the shady, inexperienced Lohra Miller is going to win the DA race versus the talented and efficient Sim Gill.

Somebody, please, stop tomorrow from coming.

Do you have more than one name on the ballot?
Yeah?
Doing better than my State Senate.

Honestly, I strongly suggest escaping from Utah.
As much as a joke about things, Utah is dangerously close to a Mormon Theocracy, and, despite the history behind it, and arguements for the majority to decide how they want the state to be run, or the rights minorities should be guaranteed, it is a matter of reality that tight-knit groups like some LDS communities (especially outside of Utah, such as Missouri, but also in that state from what some of my contacts relate to me) will ostracize or disenfranchise outsiders...

But then again, I'm just a dirty little mongrel who's opinion may be tainted by past experiences on a personal level.

Nothing like being ex-communicated from an (alledgedly) Christian religion for following Jeushua's example. rolleyes

xp Point taken. You have my condolences.

But that brings up the question: how on earth did it happen?
