I can't even count the number of people who thought my son was a girl while we were out trick or treating. Do people think boys are physically unable to have curly hair or something?

Well, around where I am, if your hair's longer than a number 4 guard, and you have no intention of cutting it, you must be a girl by the local reckoning.

I'd cut his hair, but he's a special needs child. Sensory issues, and social and language delays, and the like. Touching his hair leads to many problems, and cutting it is a big "No."

And of course, I live amidst a bunch of very judgmental Southern Baptists who will quite happily tell you that only Jeee-sahs will "fix" your boy so you can cut his hair so he can look like a proper boy.

Xia Fali, I feel dirty even thinking about those people.

By the way, your son is freaking win. Do you, like, win arguments just by having him in your sig?

You know, I've actually had people tell me that in real life. After they said my son was punished for being born out of wedlock. xp

And I've had people stop in the middle of "discussions" to say something about him. Normally, "Your son is so cute!" or something along those lines.

Punch them in the face and tell them that they're being punished for being born stupid. ninja

Nor does mine, it seems. The Avenues in Salt Lake is supposed to be a prosperous, high-class and safe neighborhood, but I didn't see one single costumed kid last night. Not even a teenager. I'd guess that the kids had all been taken to a sponsored and supervised trick-or-treating event. Mixed feelings about that.

If you see my neighborhood, you'd see how much work a kid would have to do to get any candy here. It's a huge hill, with only two roads that run across the hill, the other four running up and down the giant land-pimple that is my community. I tried walking down to the convenience store once - my legs were jelly afterwards.

Oh, and most of the kids live near the bottom of the hill, or off the main entrance road - my house is all the way up the hill, all the way across the hill, and almost all the way back down the hill if you follow the roads.
