Hey, I'm a Missionary of the SHAFT. If you're the transport, more power to you!

I recommend the Fast Escape: Lunch break feat, and Power Word: STFU.

Just tell them their computers need an exorcism and shoo them away to their local crazynuts religious right church thinger. (That there is a stab at the lady in the documentary "Jesus Camp.")

'cause Satan likes to interfere with Godly powerpoint presentations.

*giggle* Oh yes. If only I could. No lunch break on my shift or insulting the customers. Usually I use the the "Let me get your information and send this to a specialist" card, but that only works if I can pretend I really couldn't deal with the problem on my own. Alas.

D&D style magic won't help much...
But if you enter into a pact with the Spirits of lightning and innovation who carry the signals across the lines, you may be able to fry peoples' computers or at least give them a little static shock. ninja

For my money, when I did tech support, I found asking for the exact error message was beneficial... most customers won't be able to give you the exact error message.... and they may give up when you ask them to duplicate the event. ninja

Or you could ask to speak to the child of the house... 5 or older should be able to do it. wink

Reminds me of when I worked tech support. About 75% to 90% of our "repeated software error" calls were resolved for a period of time with a reboot. Some customers would go into the "you're just stalling for time; why don't you fix the problem?". Queue funny story...

An attorney (let's call him Bill) calls us with an error that we can only advise a reboot for. He does it and it works; but gives us a snarky response on the trouble ticket's survey, and e-mails his firm's IT manager to complain about the reboot resolution. His e-mail included accusations of laziness, the oft-repeated "why doesn't the HelpDesk know how to fix this?", and a bitter "I don't think it's right that I should have to reboot my computer every day just to keep things like this from happening".

The IT manager was not amused. Her response read roughly as "Fix it? The error is in a plugin to an extension to a toolkit for Word. Seeing as how the HelpDesk isn't allowed to re-write programs for us, just wait for the vendors to fix the bug like everyone else. Oh, and might I remind you that it's firm policy that all employees are to have their computers reboot when they leave the office?"

Vindication never tasted so sweet.

Oh, do we have any Teenage Mutant Ninja Trutles fans?

How about any Mako (the actor, Wizard from Conan, Aku from Samurai Jack) fans?

Okay, as we all know... Mako died earlier this year, much to my sorrow...
He died the day after it was announced that he would be the voice of Splinter in the new TMNT...
Fortunately, the announcement was a suprise, and he had finished all the voice recordings for the movie already. surprised

No, Axioma killed Black Leaf.
I did, however, kill Blackleaf's sister. With my tech support magic! whee Honestly, I am attributed more magical powers by callers than I can shake a stick at.

Fiddler, I adored Ninja Turtles.
