Sorry to hear about your troubles, Antonia. Hopefully things will pick up soon. Do you work for one of those companies that goes to different retail stores and does their inventory counts?

As for the life and times of Headhunter:

-I've downloaded almost every episode of the TV show "The Deadliest Warrior". They take warriors from various cultures and periods in history, compare their weapons, fighting styles and so forth and then put them in a hypothetical battle at the end to see who would in. The show itself is kinda silly, but I like the part of the show where they demnstrate the weapons of the various warriors (thankfully, this is the bulk of the show). I've been using some of the episodes for story referencing. God bless bittorrent

-Four new guys started jobs at my place of employment today. Would it be in bad form to bet with my co-workers on how long they'll last?

-I got a random phone call from Aflac (the insurance company with the duck) today. Specifically, it was from a recuiter who wanted to talk to me about a job. I already know that salesmen for Aflac work as contractors, so they have to give the company a percentage of whatever they sell, work solely on comission and get no benefits of any sort. Kind of like that last job I interviewed for. I don't know how they got my resume, as I never sent them one. Needless to say, Headhunter isn't interested but I'm thinking of going just for kicks and the possibility of more material. Also, what is it with these predatory comapnies trying to lure college students like a Woman of the Night at the docks waiting for the fleet to come in?

-Best E3 in years.

-I went to WalMart yesterday because they're apparently hiring temporary help for some sort of remodeling thing. Instead of normal applications, they have a single computer kisok that you have to use to apply. I sat there for a half an hour waiting for some guy who kinda looked like Zippy the Pinhead (and typed one key at a time with his index finger) to be finished before I gave up and left the store.

-World building in writing is hard. xp

Deadliest Warrior is by far one of the best programs on television right now. I even don't mind the silly final battle. The fact that you've got a solid scientific approach to demonstrating the particular skills of different cultures.

What happened at E3 to make it so awesome?

Yeah. . . Walmart is dumb anyway. Though remodeling teams aren't bad. Just tiring as hell. **Did the job for Target.**

World building can suck. And I world build for RPGs. . . that's like doing for writing, but worse.

Yeah, the company work for goes to different retail stores to do their counts.

I think my boyfriend watches Deadliest Warrior for the fighting styles.

As for the length of the new guys at work, it's understandable. It's the sad truth of realizing your work has more turnovers than a bakery.

Have you posted your resume on Monster or Career Builder by any chances? I had received some unusual calls way back when because of it.

Haven't seen deadliest warrior yet, sounds like an interesting show. It's kinda amazing how easly people can get ahold of personal information from this different sights you think are helping you out. gonk

Our turnover rate at the clown house is pretty high, more so recently because of an expected inspection that should have happened almost a week ago hasn't happened yet. Managers are all being a**'s with the newbies because things aren't being done quite right. But once everything is done and over, things will go back to normal bs for about a month before it starts all over again.

I'm so sorry that work can be such a pain. You all need to move to Alberta where labor laws keep you in breaks for any shift over 4 hours. Although we have our fair share of commission based work. Once I was looking for a job, posted a resume and got told to come in for an interview with Vector.

When I got there it wasn't an interview. It was a pitch. It was multilevel marketing selling knives door to door. I'd need to spend $100 for their selling kit and I would either get $17.80 for doing a presentation with no or little sales or the commission on high sales. They at least guaranteed that almost $20 but... at the time I didn't even have $50 to my name. I was like... "no... thanks." And they were all flabergasted that I wouldn't join their amazing sales team.

It wasn't a sales team. Do you have any idea how dangerous selling knives door to door would be? I'd be too afraid that my potential customer would kill me with my own stock.

Overall, it was just better than the last few years have been. Last year's focus seemed more about the big three trying to one-up each other with sales numbers more than anything but this year there were actually strong game showings (from Sony and MS at least). Not to mention an sheer nmber of great looking multiplatform there this year: Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, The new Castlevania, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (GIGGITY!!), Brutual Legend, Modern Warfare 2, Bayonetta and Batman: Arkham Asylum to name a few.

Yeah, I did and I figured that's how it happened. I wouldn't mind it so much if I actually found those sites to be useful xp

Yeah, that's pretty much how it is at my job. Our district manager, for some reason, really likes hanging out at our store and when she comes around the management panics like the sky is falling and everyone else has to put up with it. Once the DM leaves, its like nothing happened. So annoying.

Vector Marketing is in Canada too? They're fliers are plastered all over my school campus and I was actually going to apply one day. I looked at the flier and noticed it said nothing at all about what the work was or even what the company was so I did an internet search for the phone number they had listed and found a bunch of these stories about Vector Marketing and what it is that they do. Given their practices, I honestly don't get why anyone would want to work there.

I feel bad. . . I've eaten so much fast food in the last two weeks. . .

I blame the big paycheck, dammit.

I had the awesomest calzone from this place I had never been too before the other day. I think I have a new regular spot.

Also, has anyone watched the TV show True Blood? I've been watching episodes here and there over the past few weeks and I really dig it. It's a nice change from the more action-oriented vampire stuff I tend to prefer (Blade, Buffy and so forth) but it doesn't make me want to dive off of a cliff like certain vampire stories that we won't name here.

Also, I'm bored and might see a movie today.

Star Trek or The Hangover?
