Gianette's smile turned a little strained. Trying to look nochalant as she did it, she knocked on the wood paneling of the wall behind her. She had already thought about him being distracted, and now he was mentioning it. That was not a good sign. She tried to shake it off.

"I'm Gianette D'Amato." Again, she was sure to be insistent with the accent. "Most people call me Gian." She was sure to say this with the accent as well. Being called Jean made her feel like she was being compared to a pair of pants.

The butterfly counts not months but moments,

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Gian," Carlisle smiled charmingly, and to her pleasure, managed to pronounce her name correctly. "Now, what can I do for a lovely lady such as yourself?"

and has time enough.

Gian pondered the question. She had too many things to ask. She decided to start with the simplest, and the one that would probably take the most time to answer, simply because she really, really wanted the answer.

"What exactly is this place? I mean, I know that it's a school and all, but... there's more to it, and I'm not sure what. No one really explained it to me. They basically just said 'Hey, you're smart, we're sending you to school here," she said. Which was basically exactly what had happened. Not that she was complaining. Anything to get her away from the foster system.

Conor rushed down the stairs yelling to himself,
"Oh, I see, foine! If nobodeh wants'ta tell meh wot's goin' on I'll just foind out fer meself!"
He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and looked around, assessing the situation and figured he couldn't really help and turned around with a huff of disinterest. He turned to Carlisle and Gian with a big, goofy smile on his face and scratched the bridge of his nose, right around a part of the large scar across his face.
"Sooo. Wot're yoo all dooen'?" Conor chuckled a bit.
"I apologize fer mah poor introduction earlier, lass. I wos in a bet of a hurreh. But anyweh, as I said, mah name's Conor MacKenna and this 'ere is Conreh" he said with a hearty petting on Conri's head.
"I see yoo alredeh met the charmeng mistah Carlisle"

Gian bit back the urge to burst out laughing at Conor's entrance, his demeanor was funny, in a terrifying sort of way.

"A pleasure, Conor. I'm Gianette, Gian if you don't feel like rolling your tongue quite as much." She smiled and looked at Conreh. She'd always been rather fond of animals, cats and dogs in particular. Big cats and dogs even more so. "Is he nice?" She asked. Though she loved big animals, she wasn't a fool. Some big dogs only liked their owner.

Conor kept the goofy smile upon his face as he replied.
"Ah, the pleasure ez all moine, Gian. It's refreshin'ta meet a pretteh lass such as yehself" he said, followed by a wink. Conri had already perked up and was wagging his tail after hearing her ask about him. Conri stood a bit above Conor's waist when he stood straight up on all fours. Conor took notice of his action.
"And of course, Conreh's a beg sweeteh. He's mah familiah, we been togetha fer a loong toime! We look out fer each oothah, like broothahs" as Conor spoke Conri moved closer to allow Gian to pet him, he enjoyed meeting new people when he felt they were nice. Conri had good instincts when it comes to reading people and determining if they are a threat or not, this helped Conor and him survive on the streets. Both Conri and Conor were being cautious in this new environment, not letting their guards down. But they didn't get any signals from each other that Gian, or anyone else they'd met at the academy, were a possible threat.

"No need to beat yourself over a silly mistake." He slipped a bright smile.
He was taking the time of her thought to observe the night life of the city, simply amazing all the gears, steam vents and pipelines that make the society run without flaw.
As she took her breath before the answer to his previous question, Professor Gales watched her profile. He was delighted of her answer, for it reminded him much of his reason for teaching there after running away from his father and pains back in Twilhaven.
"Now there's a very good reason, as I pray you find much more than a home here at Aura, but the staff and your fellow students as..." He placed his fingerless dueling gloved hand on her shoulder, giving it a light tap.
"As well, Family." His voice was sincere and sweet towards the younger lady.

Feoryie turned slightly towards Meyer as he lightly tapped her shoulder, but almost entirely ignored his comment about beating herself up. She smiled warmly at him and a hint of a blush tinged her cheeks for a second before she dropped her eyes from him and looked back to the sky, her smile widening. She closed her eyes as a breeze happened by, taking a slight step forward and spreading her arms in attempt to catch the wind.

"I think I will be fine here, though it will take time, which is to be expected." she said softly, only barely audible over the breeze.
