Town Square

The town square is a large paved area with merchants and street shows all around. It's an easy place to blend and stay hidden if you don't want to be seen. It is also, if done right, a great place to be heard. It is located in the center of the caves.

Jacobi walked through the busy town square. He sighed and looked up at the sky... or, where the sky should be, rather. Instead, all he saw was the roof of a cave. He wasn't sure he would ever get used to that.

Perhaps a drink would help him forget that little trouble? But that would have to wait until later. He was out here for a reason, wasn't he? Was he? Oh, yes, the dhampyr wanted to get his hands on some supplies.

He began lazily wandering from one stand to the next. His eyes slowly drifted from the shapely and ripe fruit to the shapely and ripe patrons. It seemed both of these were far from home...

His feet found him randomly stopped in front of a cart full of apples. He vacantly stared over them, considering a purchase. Of course, his mind was truly far from focused.

Leon Aeon walked through the town square, looking around the location, taking in every detail.
Nobody paid him any attention; he was just another wanderer in town, disheveled and clad in simple, pure white clothing.
Leon turned his dark eyes to the merchant who was wheeling a cart of apples through the town square.
He tilted his head slightly to the side.
Apples. He thought to himself, as he observed the fruit with his piercing eyes, I will have apple pie today.
He made his way to the cart, and stared at the merchant.
"I will take a dozen." he said, as he handed the seller money.
He then turned his gaze to the person beside him, who looked like he was off in his own world.
"..."
He stared at the stranger. Then, he gave him a polite smile.
"The apples here are the best." he stated simply, as he offered one to the stranger, "Here, have one."

Jacobi Flameborn

Jacobi quickly blinked a few times and shook his head as this stranger addressed him. The dhampyr looked around quickly as if to confirm that this person was indeed talking to him.

After confirming that, he reached out his hand and accepted the apple from the stranger. In truth, he wasn't paying nearly enough attention to know if that apple really originated from the cart, but he was willing to take the risk. If this guy really wanted to poison him, he chose a bad place and method.

"Thank you." Jacobi said, returning the stranger's kind smile. For a second, he looked the man over. How disappointing, if this guy was flirting, he wasn't quite the right fit for the dhampyr's tastes.

"These guys had quite the journey, haven't they?" He added, absentmindedly turning the fruit in his hand.

Again, Jacobi snapped back to reality. "Sorry, was I in your way?" He asked the stranger, apologetically, "It's been a heck of a time adjusting to this new place."

Leon smiled at him.
"You're welcome." he said simply, as he stared at the stranger, observing his actions.
"And yes, I think they had quite the troublesome trip."
His gaze darkened slightly.
"Though I think that applies to most of us here."
He then shook his head.
"Of course not. I don't go outside a lot, so it is always nice to meet new people. I hope I haven't intruded on anything."
He paused, considering the stranger's next statement.
"I haven't seen you around this area before. Are you perhaps new to this area?"

Jacobi let out a polite chuckle, not totally certain what the mood was supposed to be for this exchange.

"Oh, of course you weren't interrupting anything." He said with a dismissive wave, "I was just kind of... off in my own world. Tends to happen from time to time. Especially when I don't have a clear goal."

Jacobi smiled at the stranger's next question, "Yeah, I just recently got into the area. Still not really used to not seeing... sky when I look up." He looked around him, as if for emphasis, "Even with a place this big, it starts to feel kind of claustrophobic, you know?"

Again, Jacobi shook his head, trying to turn to a new train of thought.

"So, I'm guessing from the way you said that, you've been around here a while?"

Leon listened to his responses quietly, and then nodded.
"I have been living in this area ever since the Dark forces took over the land." he said, "Though I travel from time to time to other lands. But not for long, since my home is with the people."
He spoke the last words with sincerity, expressing his belief that no matter where they were, as long as the people still existed, there will always be a "home" in their hearts.
He then smiled.
"My apologies, I still haven't introduced myself."
He held out a hand.
"My name is Leon Aeon. Nice to meet you."

Jacobi shook the hand of this new acquaintance. The dhampyr's grip was solid and firm- perhaps a bit too firm for meeting someone anew.

"I am Jacobi, called the Flameborn, son of no-one." He gave his typical introduction. There was an odd pride to the way he said his name, like it was some kind of badge of honor just to have been called that.

"It is noble that you have been in the fight for so long. I have been traveling for quite some time, and only recently heard of this place. It is strange that the forces of darkness roam free on the surface while the forces of light are confined to a cave." He added, almost without thinking.

Leon shook Jacobi's hand.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sir Flameborn." he said, with a simple smile at his next statement, "Yes, it is quite unsettling to think about."
He gazed at Jacobi with unwavering eyes.
"Though Lady Fortune will always favor the rightful owners of the land in the end."
He then went silent for a brief moment.
"Are you perhaps considering on settling here for some time?" he asked, curious at to whether or not his new acquaintance was simply here on the way to his new destination.

☾"Know a little ...

Zana took a secret path from the temple ruins towards the small town square where merchants and other wonderers like herself go to buy some grocieries and other useful things. People of all kinds come here to gather; it was a great place to blend in and gather supplies while taking in some life essences she needed. Putting up her hood too cover her hair and face she quickly blended in with the crowd; while "accidentally" bumping into males too get the most of her needed essences. As she was still biting into her apple she noticed the apple stand that she always bought her apples from. Walking towards it she noticed two men talking about the apple cart; they did not seem like they would do any harm and looked like they were full of life.... this tempted her greatly and so she approached the cart. Getting closer she overheard their conversation but she was too focused on picking out apples while quietly taking a bit of their energy into hers.

Leon noticed a girl approach the same apple cart that they were talking by.
He did not visibly pay her any attention, though he kept her on the edge of his mind as he and Jacobi talked.
Sleepy...sleepy?
Leon was never sleepy for heaven's sake. The young man was used to staying up all night for days straight, while keeping his mental capabilities intact.
People never seen him sleep. And yes, he often did not.
So he was curious as to why he felt the desire to nap all of a sudden, unless...
Leon glanced at the girl out of the corner of his eye, taking in her physical attributes.

She looked pretty normal. A young lady who appears to be in her twenties, judging purely on her posture and the bounce in her step.
Leon couldn't see her face properly because of the hood, so he was unable to make a judgement on that.
He did note that she seemed to naturally edge closer to him and Jacobi, while being occupied by picking out apples.
Perhaps...

Leon turned his head to the side slightly, and then gave a double take, as if he had just noticed the lady standing near them.
"Hello." he greeted her, giving her a polite smile, "The apples here look lovely as usual, right?"

Zana was putting some apples in a bag as one of the men seemed to notice something was wrong. Quickly she slowly started to cut the thread that connected her to the man's essence. Carefully reaching out an apple to the man without needing to look up as she kept most of her face hidden but her lips showed as she smiled "Yes, why don't you try this apple it is very sweet; it will give you much needed energy.". She knew her eyes were probably glowing as she has been taking essences from people around her in the market; she needed to move away before something happens.

Leon looked at the apple she was offering.
"Well, thank you for your kindness." he said, as he accepted the apple.
Then, he took out one of his own, offering it back to the lady.
"Here, have one of mine in exchange. It is only fair."
He then gave her a smile, waiting for her reaction.

Quickly she opened her bag of apples and gestured for the man to drop the apple in. "Thank you; did you know that there is a stand by the corner selling delicious savoury snacks?" Zana pointed at a direction behind both the men.
