• Crawling, feeling alone. Scared.
Whipped in the face by branches,
    Bugs combing through my hair.
    Then in the distance,
    A shining light.
Baring its glory in front of me.
    What could be there?

    Starving, feeling tired. Restless.
Wanting to reach the wonders of the light.
Perhaps a town, perhaps a village.
Eyes gleamed from within the darkness.
    It wanted me,
    They wanted me.
    The evil within the forest.

    Sobbing, feeling horrified. Nervous.
    Seemingly close I carried on.
    Shudders wracked my body,
As things desired me in the forest.
    Within miles, meters, yards.
    Searching fiercely,
    Pushing on in the dark.

    Fleeting, feeling joy. Restless.
    Almost there,
    Minutes away.
    Laughter rose, I had won.
    Then screams ruptured through me,
    There was no light.
    It was only imagination.

    Drifting, feeling despair. Scared.
    I curled up.
    A ball of nothing.
Coldness reaching up from my toes.
    Wrapping around my stomach.
    Strangling air from my chest.
    I laid limp, drifting away.
It has won. It has gotten me.
