• TAKE ME HOME

I feel small. Small and fragile and hopeless. My home is gone. As I watch the news, I feel my heart begin to ache as I see the places I’ve been, streets I once walked down – the city I lived in that seemed so strong and amazing while everything inside me was crumbling and dissolving into nothing.

I listen, hoping for news of my family but there is no word other than that the local television station is burning and that the tallest building in the city is sinking.

Nothing feels the same now. Everything’s changed – in 40 seconds, everything changed. The land and my heart are broken. People are gone – never to be replaced. Places are gone – to be rebuilt but never to their former glory.

I want to be back there, walking the streets myself to see how much has changed but I know that can never be. I know the city I love will never be what I remember it, not after today. But I need to go home...

Take me home. Take me home before there is no more home for me to go to.
