• :: Eleven Miles North of the Persistant Family Mansion, Heart of the Guilthanian Empire - 317 GSY ( Approximately 1493 AD ) ::

The wind chilled to the bone. Even the coastal boulders that protected Guilesguard Town did not weather chills of this sort. Paraidus Persistant, at the age of only four, sat shivering in the transport carriage. His parents had sent him to Castle Guilesguard in the hopes that if the barbaric Omecians attacked, he'd be safe. The path Paraidus was on, however, did not lead to safety. Mere hours before the small caravan left the Persistant estate, the Omecians had laid siege to Castle Guilesguard. Peasants filled the roads, sprinting quickly to avoid becoming slaves. Fewer and fewer were accomplishing that task. Omecian calvary swept along the highway capturing the fleeing people with giant nets. The leader of the calvary sought out the caravan in the crowds and encircled it with his troops. Upon closing in on it, he dismounted and ordered two of his men to fetch the passenger. Paraidus struggled his best as he was dragged from the wagon and thrown at the general's feet. "Ah, a young noble. You will serve the iron mines well." After releasing a menacing laugh at Paraidus's defiant stare, the general motioned to a nearby soldier. The soldier promptly lunged the butt of his spear into the back of Paraidus's head. The light of the world faded to the child as he skidded across the cobblestone road.
