• She looks across the rounded lunch table at her school and another pair of eyes meets hers. It was his dark chocolate colored eyes which hid behind his jet black semi-messy bangs. The words poured out of his mouth, asking her what was new, what she was doing after lunch and all the unnecessary things in high school. She responds with a soft smile and a simple, “Nothing.” She was holding back.

She watches as he continues to talk, his voice filled the air with laughter and nonsense. The sounds around her drained away, leaving only his voice in her head. He wasn’t just some ‘boy’ to her. He was the reason she tolerated her idiotic school. The reason why she looks forward to lunch every other day. The reason why she doesn’t want to ever leave. Flashbacks entered into her mind from when she first started school in a new world.

It started when she first entered into her final year of high school. She just transferred from another school across the ocean, leaving many of her memories behind, but she was ready to start a new life; a brand new story. She walks through her classes, trying to get to know people, but sadly it was unsuccessful. The first week of school passed her in a flash, but soon it came to a halt when she was first introduced to him, by an old friend. His messy hair, dirty brown eyes, his indescribable smile; out of everyone, he caught her eye. What drew her to him was his sweet, caring personality, but it was hidden behind a mask of distance and nonchalant. She saw right through him, but he didn’t seem to notice. Her friends didn’t notice what she was hiding. His friends didn’t care; relationships meant nothing to them. But that didn’t stop her.

She remembers how he would stay after and eat lunch with her every day, some days if she was lucky, it would just be him and her. His kindness, his outgoing personality, his sweet aura that emitted from his body drew her closer and closer to him. He would remember the small details in her speech; the small things that made her happy, like huge bear hugs that her friends back then use to give her. He would, the next day, would give her a big bear hug, because he knew that she liked them. That’s what made her happy; knowing that he actually pays attention and cares for her.

Taking in a deep sigh, she comes back to the present and watches carefully as the boy she fell for played hackie sack with her other friends. They called out to her, wanting her to play and learn. Shaking her head, she withdrew and told them, “I’ll just watch.” The chocolate-eyed boy urges her to play, tugging on her arm lightly, eyes pleading though his black bangs saying ‘Come play and learn’. Shaking her head once more, he gives up and gives her a small smile. She sits on the lunch table, arms crossed lightly across her chest; her dark brown eyes watched the black-haired boy as a smile appears across her face. How she wished that he would just see how much he meant to her.

Ring, ring, ring. Lunch was over. Grabbing her things, she gets up and starts to head towards her boring class. Then a familiar voice calls out to her, telling her to wait. Stopping for a moment, she turns around, coming face to face with the boy that stole her heart. With a smile, she wonders why he was here, it turns out that he just wanted to walk to her class. She nods her head and starts to walk down the hall to her class, with him.

As they talked, she complained about not wanting to go to her next class. There was never anything to do, plus they never did anything. It was just a normal boring class. Looking up at the dark-haired boy, she heard something that she would never expect to hear. “Let’s ditch class together. Just today. I have no classes after lunch and you just have one class.” In the spur of the moment, she blushed lightly and nods her head, before she knew it, both of them walked off campus and headed towards his old-looking white car. What was she doing? Her mind raced, asking herself if this was a good idea, wondering what they were going to do, but her heart and body seemed to move on their own as she climbed into the passenger seat. With a smile on both of their faces, they drove off, away from the school and into a random store, where they browsed through, talked, laughed and flirted together. To her, this was a dream come true, but would he think the same thing?

After the raiding of the random store, she followed him back into his old white car. Driving around a few more moments, he parks somewhere in the middle of a parking lot, surrounded by small stores. The parking lot itself was almost empty, with specks of cars here and there. They were alone. Anything could happen. Silence fell between them, she looks over, trying to make a conversation with him, but he seemed so distant now. The silence almost killed her, her mind raced, trying to keep him interested, but every time she would start a conversation, it would always die. Taking a calming deep breath, she looks out the window, watching the clouds dance above both of them.

She looks over at the dark chocolate-eyed boy. She could hold back any longer. Moving slowly, she whispers his name, to catch his attention. Looking over with a small confused look on his eyes, he tilts his head to the side, wondering what she wanted. Leaning over the middle compartment that separated her from him, she moves closer to his face until she was only inches away. Her eyes gazed deeply into his as she moves a few strands of hair away from his face. She lightly touches her forehead to his with eyes filled with regret and courage. There was no way she could pull back now. “I’m sorry…” She whispers softly, “I cant hold back any longer.” Closing her eyes slowly, her lips lightly touch his. Holding the kiss for a little longer, a wave of heat surged through her body. Forcing herself back, she opens her eyes and looks at him with a disappointed face. What did she do? Her eyes shifted away from him, she didn’t want to see his expression on his face. She retreats back slowly to her seat, but something pulls her back, forcing her to look back into his eyes. “Don’t be sorry…” That was the last words she heard before he kisses her with a hint of passion.
