My heart felt like it had just stopped. I stood there, mouth gaping at Adrian for what felt like forever.
'It's over now. He knows. I failed.' My mind whispered in fear. But then he said something I wasn't expecting.
"Stop gaping at me." He commanded, "And take a seat. I want to get this meeting started." It was then that I remembered that I was still wearing my disguise. With a meek sigh of relief I quickly found a seat next to a bulky guy about double my size. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to fight these guys.
Adrian's voice filled my ears, "Most of you here are some of the most well-known crooks in this city." I looked around and I recognized a lot of them from wanted posters. If only I could call the station, this would be a huge group arrest.
"I called you all here to talk about the biggest hiest in history." the crook continued, "Good for the money lovers and good for... well me. You see my plan is-"
"Listen, skipper." The man sitting next to me piped in, "Like you said, a good amount of us are well-known. Your a new-comer in this city. Why should we listen to you?" The rest of the room went silent as Adrian turned to the guy who spoke with a frown.
His voice was like acid, "Because if you don't, I might do something unreasonable." His blue eyes were like ice pricking at my skin. The whole temperature of the room seemed to drop.
"Like what? You'll kill me?" The guy laughed, "I could take you on anytime, pipsqueak."
The man was on the ground, writhing in pain before anyone could say anything. Adrian was standing above him, his hands glowing. The man's face was burnt and made a sickening sizzling sound as Adrian kicked him to the side. Was it possible to just set something aflame with your hands? I mean, even though I saw it right in front of me, it was still hard to believe.
"Anyone else have a problem?" He growled, his voice coming out as a hiss. Everywhere you looked, people were shaking there heads. I had a feeling that I should have brought Luke with me. Adrian walked back to the center of the room, demanding full attention.
His voice was calm, as though he didn't just burn someone's face off, "Now, back to the plan."
