At school, I had entered an art contest to represent our school in a state-wide competition. The teacher took favoritism in a girl in class, and chose her, WITHOUT even seeing the work of any of the other participants. The other bad side is that there are several competitions. - Its a good picture, but it does look a little stiff. The lines for the hand seem a bit harsh, you should soften them up a bit, if that makes any sense lol.

I've done a drawing similar to this, only the hand was holding an axe.
I think the nails look a bit strange, and the pointer finger is really bothering me..the tips of the rest of the fingers, like the top joint area, all look stiff and awkward.
