29th October, 2009. Zero City. Two days before Halloween, but the city is almost as silent as the night sky. It’s pretty early in the morning, you’d only be wandering around if you want to bump into some rebellious gang or be attacked by some weirdo. For me, it’s not a problem. I can take care of myself. I’m Tornado.
Tornado walked through the empty allies of Zero City. Checking his watch, he realized it was still early for Crystal to have arrived yet. He sighed. If she ever did arrive. His sister was one of the main targets for countless people and gangs. “There you are!” Surprised, Tornado stopped and twisted around. A girl with shoulder-length, hazel hair and dark brown eyes stood before him. Crystal had arrived safely. The only thing that had changed that her hands and legs were bloody. Tornado raised his eyebrows as he spotted that. “Yeah, some idiots from the Moons came again but they were all amateurs,” Crystal quickly explained. “I killed one and the other two ran off. I swear that the Moons recruit twelve-year-olds.” Crystal could be a merciless killer when it came to people attacking her. The main reason? Her amulet, but more about that later. “You should have called me,” Tornado replied, frowning. Crystal immediately glared at him. “I can take care of myself! And I’m here, aren’t I?!” she retorted. Tornado narrowed his eyes. He turned around, expecting Crystal to follow him back to their apartment. Crystal immediately quickened her pace to walk next to him. “Sorry,” she mumbled. “But I’m thirteen, it’s not like I’m helpless.” Tornado ignored her, not wanting to point out that she had gotten herself almost killed numerous times. Sighing, Crystal went silent. When they reached their street it had gotten lighter. The stairs to the apartment were naturally filthy. Inside, it was better. Tornado let himself fall onto one of the old second- or thirdhand couches.
“I got what you asked for,” Crystal said, holding up what looked like a plain CD. “This is a list of the Moons’ and Shadows’ coming battles and attacks.” “Does it also include the Moons versus Shadows? ‘Cause if it does, this CD is probably pointless,” Tornado replied. Crystal shrugged and walked over to the laptop that rested on a table that was doomed to fall down at any minute. “Hopefully not,” she said, inserting the disc. The screen displayed a powerpoint presentation. “Okay...” Crystal murmured. “Ladies and gentlemen, may I have you attention! We will now announce the list of upcoming attacks!” She mimicked the Moons’ leader, Lyraiya, her voice almost perfectly. “I can’t believe they’d make a powerpoint presentation,” Tornado growled, clicking on the second page. In bright green letters it read: ‘Fell for it, Torny?’ “Dammit!” Crystal and Tornado yelled simultaneously. The Moons had seen through their plan. This meant they couldn’t predict and stop the attacks on the city before it happened. The rebel gang had won again. “Wait,” Crystal exclaimed, clicking on the next page. “Look!” Tornado read the text. You know, Torny, the Shadows and the Moons haven’t battled in a month or two, have they? You may already know it but we’ve become one big group. It works more effectively, since we both want Zero City changed. Tornado growled something under his breath. “This can’t be good,” Crystal muttered, making Tornado feel even angrier. “Of course it isn’t freaking good! It’s bad! Really bad!” he shouted. “Two of us don’t stand a chance against fifty of them, no matter how ******** powerful we are!” Crystal didn’t meet his gaze. “Calm down. It’s not the end- not yet.” Tornado wanted to say something but held it back, and instead walked off, towards the stairs of the roof.
