Bekah thought for a moment, she'd seen dragons dig a wallow deep enough for their main bulk, leaving their upper body supporting and they'd seemed comfortable, given their large size, she figured it might work here. "Let's try a rounder, deeper shape" she said, and began dragging sand out and backwards with her hands. She seemed to be getting somewhere though, and stopped to move pull the sand away from the edges of the wallow, so it didn't fall back in again. "Like this" she suggested to Blood. If that didn't work, she had a lap for Blood to lay on if she wanted though, or at least lay her head on as another hatchling had done. "The bottom should be cooler too" she thought out loud, sand on the beach heated by the sun tended to be cooler beneath, was it the same with the wher den? maybe.

Day 7 Prompts
Even as the pups grew stronger and larger, food was still a regular concern. However, many of them had gotten to a point where they could seek out the meat themselves if they wanted to. Bowls left by candidates or buckets near the entrance meant that the pups could eat unassisted if a candidate didn't pick up on their hunger fast enough. Misshapen however enjoyed the interaction that being fed brought him. So the young bronze sat in an open space and waited, broadcasting his hunger to anyone willing to feed him
Hidden was not so polite. The green regularly decided that she didn't need anyone to assist her. It was that very attitude that sent her marching over the the unattended buckets of meat. By now she was tall enough to see over the rim and grab a few mouthfuls, but it wasn't long before the depth of the bucket blocked her. At this point the pup angrily whacked the bucket with her tail, knocking it over with a loud clang. Satisfied she began to eat the from bucket again, doing her best to ignore the grit of the sand that had gotten into the mush.
Despite thoughts to the contrary, Grave had survived to almost a month old. He had grown with his siblings and managed to gain a healthy coating of muscle. It was only his attitude that ever indicated that something might be amiss. The blue did not play like his siblings. Grave only got up to meet needs, with play and company not seeming to be needs. The rest of the time he spent either sitting or laying, sometimes it was hard to tell if he was even awake. That was the state he was in today; laying not far from the adult whers, but at least his eyes were open today.

The month had gone by so quickly, it was hard to believe that this was perhaps the last time he would play with all the pups. They moment of truth was upon them where they would be expected to pick their bonded person, though any that didn't had only another month before being considered feral. It was hard to see any of these wrinkly, pudgy, toothless whers as dangerous but only one look at the Matriarch Mezask or any of her green pack to see they would not stay this way. Jelric liked to think he had been a good candidate, he felt good about his relationship with some pups, it's just if they liked him more then the others.
Hidden seemed to be fine helping herself to the meat she knocked over, if any might go feral it was probably her, but Misshapen was prepared to wait for help. Grabbing a bowl full he knelled down by the pup, giving the bronze a good pet on the neck with his free hand. "Wise choice, sand doesn't taste very good."

Bonding PromptsAs seemed to be becoming the norm, Music was sat near the entrance of the den. This was common for the young green as she listened intently to what was going on outside the small area she had been allowed to experience so far. Still tonight the pup seemed oddly focused. As though, instead of listening for new sounds, she was listening very hard for a particular sound. Something that she wanted to hear very badly. Attempts to lure her away with food or play were pointless, Music wasn’t budging from her spot. Eventually, the sound did come, although nobody that wasn’t a wher would be able to hear it. Music quickly got to her feet, shuffling excitedly from foot to foot. It was coming closer, getting louder. Eventually the candidates in the cave would be able to pick up on the sound of footsteps. Music had heard footsteps several times this evening, but she had been listening for a very special set. She had been listening for- Bekah! As the candidate entered the cavern the pup whistled happily. You’re finally here! Besk waited for you. The wher continued to whistle, moving forward to lean against the healer’s leg. Her mind gently brushed against Bekah’s; she had missed the healer while she had been gone. It was alright though, because she had come back. What did Bekah want to do? Besk could work with her on her humming more if she liked, that would be nice. This particular evening Dyad seemed frustrated. She stomped around the den, snapping at her siblings and even a few adult whers. Time was ticking on and she did not like it. The pup was of the opinion that she had been awake and waiting far too long. Even though in reality she had been awake virtually no time at all. Some of her siblings were even still asleep and there were likely still people in the dining hall at this time of evening. Still Dyad thought that it was far too late. The irritable little gold began to pace the den, regularly casting glances at the entrance. It wasn’t that she was hungry. There were candidates and adults that would feed her if she needed, but there was no tinge of hunger in the emotions that rolled off the pup. The den was rather tense as the largest of the clutch stomped back and forth, all the other inhabitants trying to give her as wide a berth as they could in the small den. At last what Dyad had been waiting for arrived. The moment Jelric stepped into the den there was a commanding bark. Where had he been? Did Jelric have any idea what time it was? The pup marched up to the candidate and looked up into his face. It might have been more intimidating if she managed was taller than hip height. Her insistent mind pushed at Jelric’s. Well? He had better have a good excuse for keeping her waiting all this time. His Jelsk needed him, didn’t he realise that? The gold gave a dramatic huff and turned to walk away. They had work to do. Jelsk couldn’t waste any more time lecturing him, she needed his help after all. It didn’t seem that tonight was any different from any other night for Grave. The blue lay at the back of the den, eyes looking blankly forward. Still any that had taken the time to get to know the blue might be able to pick out that there almost an air of melancholy to the feeling he gave out this evening. Still the blue stayed where he was, his softly glowing gaze slowly roaming the den as he watched his siblings go about their activities. Some played, some ate. Many interacted with candidates, and he knew some were making their choices this evening. When one candidate entered the cavern the change in Grave was almost imperceptible. His eyes opened ever so slightly wider and his chin lifted a few millimetres off the sand. His eyes followed the candidate as they made their way through the gloom. The blue groaned softly as he saw the candidate look at his siblings. Finally resolute the pup pushed himself to his feet. Slowly he plodded across the den to where the candidate stood. He looked up at Thasne’s face before heavily pushing his head against her thigh. His body slowly followed until he was pressed up against the miner’s legs. Clumsily his mind collided with hers, a jumble of unclear thoughts and intent. Fondness, confusion, fear. He was here. He would be her Thask. If she let him.

Jelric hadn't meant to dawdle, but he found himself dragging his feet reguardless. It was expected the wher pups would be paired up to start properly bonding, and the man found himself afraid. For years he had stood as a candidate for dragons and been found lacking, if the whers felt the same then what was he to do? He was fond of both the bronzes, either of them he would be happy to partner with. The gold... it should be concidered desirable, an honor, to bond with her but it could mess up his plans to leave. There was also one of the greens he liked, but he did not feel as close with her as he did the larger pups.
Eventually Jelric made his way to the den as he had done so every night, there was no need to delay what would be. The loud bark at him nearly had him scrambling away, he just got here so what had he done wrong?! The gold pup was huffing at him for not arriving sooner, well that wasn't unusual behaviour for her but why him? It was faint, almost like it was his own thought, but why would he suddenly think her name was... "Jelsk?" The man said aloud, as if trying to believe it himself. No time to ponder it as he obiediently did as je was told and followed her.
