With Lithustoth's eggs good and hardened Z'mas gathered their charges and led them to the familiar hatching sands. It was a pleasant afternoon, not quite summer yet but the sun was warm and a gentle breeze stirred the air and even circulated a little into the vast cavern, providing a small respite from the oppressive heat of the Sands. At the entrance to the Sands Z'mas turned to the candidates with a slight smile and a little nod. "I think you all know the drill by now; go on in, meet the eggs, and behave yourselves."
Inside, on the Sands themselves, V' had persuaded Lith to settle a good dragonlenth away from her eggs to give the candidates room to move around them without climbing over her - not something anyone would be happy about she was sure. As the candidates started to filter in V' sat up a little bit straighter on Lith's shoulders, but only a little, and gave them a nod of acknowledgement as she said; "Come on then, they're waiting for you," which was really quite friendly by her standards.
Lithustoth lay with her head raised and the tips of her tail twitching, she didn't remember her last Touching but she was fairly sure she hadn't liked it any more then than she liked it now - so many hands on her precious eggs! It was necessary however and so it would be tolerated, so long as they all behaved that was.

Welcome to the Touching!
It's due to run from now until December 11th, but as I'm out on Friday and Saturday I may extend it slightly if folks are still busy with the eggs by then.

Eyeing the eggs that Lithustoth had been protecting for so long, Gwyn allowed herself to hope. This single clutch had almost double the number of eggs seen at the last hatching! Perhaps this time, she would be one of the lucky ones.
"They're lovely," she said to Lith as she bowed respectfully. "I look forward to meeting them." Again, she cast a thoughtful look over them, before moving offto the side to greet the tiny Hoarding Egg. Perhaps it would be best to start from one side of the clutch and work her way over, rather than just wandering aimlessly. Granted, with this many eggs, she might not get to see them all this time, but she would try. Gently placing her hand on the oh-so-small egg, she wondered if the little one within would be ok. The other eggs seemed so much larger in comparison!

Siv
Siv approached the sands with energy today. Learning the Touching ewas to come, to be close to the eggs enough to feel them... Well, Siv had all but chugged her klah, scarfed breakfast, and prepared for the day. Her one despair was not bringing her note taking supplies, but, this was a clutch from a proven mother, and entering the sands she bowed politely to the green- ha!@ Bowing to a green was amazing! - before regarding the eggs with an analytical gaze before considering who to approach. Wgho was unusual? Whom was normal? ....
Was that egg seperate?
Siv's eyes soon trailed off the impressive Heart egg as she studied the clutch before approaching a few steps, and peering to the Hoarding Egg, almost careful to not touch too firmly. Still, she leaned in inches closer than if the klag wasn't buzzing her system, and the blonde beamed a wide, eager, intrigued grin.
Well that one's interesting. Away from the others, I wonder why? So tiny!
Was it measn? No. She was a vibrating, eager, wound little bundle of curiousity, and was eager to see what this clutch offered her research.

Well, this was a pleasant surprise! Not only did the occupant seem to be just fine, but it didn't seem to be afraid either. And so curious! "I'm doing good as well," Gwyn answered softly, so as not to disturb anyone else. "And don't you worry... I'm sure that wonderful thought you had will be found again." With a last, lingering pat, she withdrew as one of the others approached. It was time to meet another egg, and there was no sense in crowding this one.
Her next stop was at the Apex Egg. The much larger blue shell certainly seemed to be ready for action, with the lines hurrying along it's expanse. Again, Gwyn softly touched the shell, wondering what the mind within was like.

Another new mind, what an excellent day!
Siv would find her excited greeting returned in kind by the bright purple egg's bright and curious little mind. Why was it away from the others? Hoarding seemed to give this some thought, in fact Siv might even think she felt something shift around inside it. After a few moments it reached its conclusion - no idea, but it would be interested to know if she finds out!
Also, what's research?
Silence.
Stillness.
It drags on for one heartbeat, two, three, and then-
Apex's intense mind strikes Gwyn's and holds tight, probing deeply into her thoughts. This sharp sudden contact lasts only a moment however before its mind seems to hop backwards a step to regard the candidate curiously, its mind still reaching out to hers but without the initial almost overwhelming strength of its full presence.
They are here for a purpose are they not? Is she the one it will one day seek?
Heart's welcome is regal, glorious, magnanimous.
Initially it seems in no great rush to reach out to Telleara beyond allowing her to observe these qualities in it, however it does betray a strand of curiosity on the edges of its mind. Who is it that had come to it first? Is she worthy of it? |

Telleara
Telleara doesn't mind Heart's slow mental approach. Rushing in would just be uncouth after all. Play a little hard to get, this crowd would eat that right up. From what she had heard among the candidates they loved that kind of thing. The whole 'dragon that is shy, but then comes out of their shell only for them' story seemed to really do it for them.
Of course she was worthy. There wasn't a flicker of doubt in Telleara's mind. That was what being searched was all about. There were very few things in this world that Telleara didn't think she was worth. Now whether they were a good match or not was an entirely different question. That really was only for Heart to decide, they were the one able to look into people's mind to find their answers after all.

Kiliran
Okay, here we go. Time to introduce himself to his first clutch. It seemed pretty big to him. How did people manage with gold clutches that had over twenty eggs? Kili wondered if he would even have the time to meet all of these and there were less than a dozen. Smaller definitely felt like the way to go in his opinion. Not that anyone cared what his opinion on dragon clutches was.
He watched as other candidates eagerly approached the eggs, and wondered where he should go first. Oh! First he needed to bow. Looking to Lithustoth the candidate bowed deeply. It felt odd. Kiliran couldn't remember ever bowing to somebody before.
Okay, so which egg?
Looking at the group, Kiliran's eyes were drawn to a bright egg near the front. A pleasant rush of greens, yellows and greenish yellows. Was that a hint of blue he saw in there too? Maybe Leaping was at the front because it wanted to be greeted first. That was as good a reason as any to pick them. Stopping in front of the egg, the young man took a steadying breath. He wasn't sure what this was going to feel like, but there was only one way to find out. Resting his hand against the egg, Kiliran tried to think welcoming thoughts. |

Kakar almost smiled at the gleeful greeting, but stopped short when it paused. "I'm ...fine" he said to the egg, forcing down, deep deep down, the negative feelings, well as best a 13yr old boy could anyway. Research most definitely DID help with plans, though ....All plans can go awry, be more prepared than i was he thought, trying to keep it to himself. Plans were good, plans made sense... Perhaps when Hoarding was out of it's egg, it could get it's rider to remember it's plans, or at least write things down for them. He sighed and tried to think positive, who knew if this egg, or any of the others held a dragon for him ... at least that's what his twin's dragon kept telling him.

Humm, yes, good - Hoarding has decided that it likes research, it sounds useful for Plans! Siv's bold self assurance seems to meet with the egg's approval too, it presses closer to her and its presence warms with encouragement, yes, go and do your science to people!
Humm, yes, good.
Heart's presence seems to circle around Telleara, assessing her for suitability. She knows she was born to lead? Heart knows this as well, it is simply the way things will be once it breaks its shell. The path may not be easy but Heart has the courage and fortitude to overcome any barriers - does Telleara?
Oh thank goodness somebody is here - thank goodness you are here! Leaping's energy and passion flow around Kiliran with dizzying speed which nevertheless retains a feeling of grace. It is terribly boring in here Kiliran, what is it like out there? Leaping is desperate to leave the confines of its shell but Mother says it is not ready yet - it believes it could be if it were given the chance! If only somebody could perhaps give its shell a very accidental kick? Eh? Eh?
Although Hoarding seems a little confused by Kakar's sadness and certainly doesn't know how to make it go away the egg leans its presence closer to him, its bright energy softening a little as it does its best to offer him reassurance. Sometimes plans do go wrong, or so it understands from Mother, but that just means you make a new plan! That's the way Hoarding sees it at least. |
