Cochith! He's the most amazing dragon ever!

User Image

Name: Cochith
Colour: Blue
Hatchling Length: 6’0’’
Hatchling Height: 1’10’’
Hatchling Appearance:
Cochith is, to put it out there, a chubby little bundle of joy. Although Cochith does not overeat nor seem to be lazy, Cochith is, and it always seems he will be, a pudgy, round, and adorable sort of dragon. It does not impede on his health, nor his ability to work, it's simply who he is. Cochith has short little legs, with a thicker, longer tail and broad, long wings with added thickness to support them. Most of Cochith seems stuffy -- from an adorably pug-ish nose to a shorter neck and toes, Cochith is a stubby bundle of all things good in the world. Cochith has a slightly rough skin to touch, that does not seem to lose moisture easily, however it requires oiling as often as any other dragon to avoid itchiness or drying out. Cochith is a tad on the aware side of his slightly rougher skin, and when he does itch, it seems he itches more than average; however, this is, according to the Healers, perfectly harmless to Cochith's growth.

Personality: Cochith is a cheerful and pleasant dragon, with a love for life and all its ups and downs. Although a chubby baby, Cochith is not a piggy -- in fact Cochith is very careful to only eat until sated, and very tidy as well. Cochith is happiest when all have a good meal, and the area is spotless, and all is calm, however this does not mean he isn't adept at keeping up with other dragons, nor is he maladjusted to spurts of energy. In fact, Cochith is very PASSIONATE and once he gets going, nothing seems to slow this little dragon down if he puts his mind to something, be it matchmaking, or perhaps cleaning, or even, gasp, crushes, Cochith can go all-in on any sort of passion like that.

Of course, Cochith is not perfect (unless you ask L'ux, maybe), and in this case, Cochith has a fiery streak. Bossy, pushy, and fierce, Cochith has a Way To Do Things and there's no highway option -- do it and do it now! This hot temperament can land the pair in hot water if not careful, but when controlled it makes Cochith a fearless dragon... Who still refuses to do anything anyone else's way but HIS OWN. Similarly, Cochith does not sit still well when excited or worked up and is prone to 'talking' with his tail and bobbing his head, or by moving about eagerly, even when calm. Cochith simply doesn't stop, except maybe when things need doing.

Mind Voice: (#44b8c9) Cochith is an airy sort, with a high, strong voice and melodic 'accent' of sorts that almost sounds like a spoken word is singing, even when upset. Similarly, sometimes when he snickers, Cochith is want to snort a tiny bit, something that often flusters and distresses him.

Why me? There was never any doubt that Cochith needed someone as bright as Lorux. Someone who could keep up with his passion and zest for life, but also had the strength to handle the dragon when they get bossy. Cochith would have only waned under someone who would respond to his less positive traits with force. Lorux’s almost inability to be angry means that no matter how much he may butt heads with Cochith, the dragon need never fear a harsh word from his rider. The two were made to be energetic together, and Cochith might even manage to give Lorux some kind of direction towards something worth being serious about. Maybe.

Inspiration Cochimito de Peopcoo, often also called Marranitos, Cochitos, or Mexican Ginger Pig Cookies are a soft, lightly sweetened, shiny pig sweet often found in Mexican bakeries and do, in fact, look quite piglike. Considered a pan dulce or candy bread, they are almost honeylike in flavor, which is incredibly mild compared to many sweets from other locales. Similarly, one such colloquial name, Cochito, stems as inspiration for this dragon's very name: Cochith.

Oh, right, and then there's me! I'm pretty great too, or, well, depends on who you ask! Hehe.

Name: L'ux
Age: 19 (163)
Gender: Male
Role/rank: Weyrling, former drudge

Appearance: On the shorter side, wiry and tough. In colouration he's your typical Pernese melting pot; dark brown hair that forms tight corkscrew curls if allowed to grow at all, warm brown eyes, and mid brown skin with freckles over the bridge of his nose. His features are broad and pleasant but not remarkable other than his brilliant winning grin, which could possibly light up the sky all on its own.

Personality: Lorux is a charming, cheeky, people-peon - in general he will befriend anybody, often whether they like it or not; he has a tendency to barge up to people who look like they're having fun or doing something interesting and shove his way into the conversation or activity. It takes really quite a lot of effort to rebuff him, and when this is successful the rebuffer will often be put on his 'to annoy and inconvenience' list, he just can't stand it when people aren't friendly! The exception to his own friendliness is Posh Folk who've had everything handed to them on a platter, he's resentful of those who got an easy ride while he's spent his life to date working his arse off for exactly zero thanks.

Lorux finds it hard to understand stoic or introverted people; his heart is on his sleeve one hundred percent of the time and he always says exactly what he means without fear of the consequences, even back when he was a drudge and it sometimes got him a thrashing.

Serious? What even is that? Lorux is almost totally incapable of taking things serious, both situations and people. This means that he's pretty unflappable in a crisis, but also that he can be unintentionally insensitive and dismissive of people's issues. If he realises he has upset somebody he'll try to make amends, sure, but he won't pretend to know why you got so worked up to begin with. His lack of understanding and capacity to cope with serious stuff also means that he doesn't know how to deal with any major unhappiness he might experience himself. In general he bounces back from sadness quickly but if something does go badly wrong in his life he tries to laugh it off and then shoves it under the rug, where it will fester for a long time unacknowledged.

My past's pretty boring but we can't all be heirs and prodigies I guess. Still holding out on the mysterious father thing though!

History:
163: Born to a drudge in Telgar Hold, father unknown. With no prospect of education he stayed by his mother's side at first and was put to work as soon as he could use a scrubbing brush to decent effect. As he got older the work got harder, the hours longer, but he revelled in the camaraderie of his fellow drudges and kept alive a secret dream that one day his father - probably a Weyrleader - would sweep in and take him and his Ma and his friends all away to his Weyr where they'd be happy together, and where Lorux would Impress a dragon of his very own, probably a bronze or a gold or a white.
175: Lorux's mother was kicked by the Lord's runner during chaotic preparations for a Turn's End gather. She died three days later despite the efforts of the Hold's healers. Truthfully they had done all they could but Lorux got it into his head that had she been somebody 'important' they would've found a way to do more and save her - his budding resentment of the well-born grew.
178: The Plague didn't directly affect the Holds of Pern but the implications of it were soon realised - the north was doomed for sure. The Lords though? Well they could afford a ship across the sea if it came to it now couldn't they? Lorux overheard plenty such plans for survival but did they include him and his friends? Probably not so far as he could see, if there was going to be an evacuation their names were going to be right at the bottom of the list.
181: When Searches went out for Malsalth's clutch plenty of people stayed away but Lorux and several other drudges snuck away from their work when a Searchdragon arrived, and three of them were chosen to Stand. Lorux was more or less aware of the risks, in a sort of an abstract way, but as far as he was concerned it was much better to be at a Weyr than stuck drudging in Telgar and anyway risks or no it'd always been his dream to Impress and so off he went. There was still a lot of hard work to do when he arrived of course but he also got taught to read properly and learned things about Pern he'd never known before, plus people generally used his name when they yelled at him, so as far as he was concerned it was a win.
182: When greens started to clutch and the north looked less doomed than before Lorux's excitement at being a candidate grew, he wasn't chosen by any of Lithustoth's or Starleth's offspring but he held out hope for Oximath's and Heimalth's!
20.01.183: And then out of nowhere came gold Julith with her gift to the north, a clutch of twenty six eggs. Lorux found himself eyeing the big eggs because, well, a lot of people do but he didn't feel as though any of the eggs reacted that strongly to him.
06.02.183: Despite an underwhelming Touching Lorux remained hopeful and that hope was rewarded when blue Cochith bounded joyfully into his life, allowing him to take the rider name he'd had planned out for at least ten turns - L'ux.

Stuff that's mine.

- Clothing; a few work outfits, one simple but smart-ish gather outfit.
- Weyrling knots; amazing!
- Shaving kit and hair comb; the comb could probably do with seeing more use.
- Plain copper ring; a memento. Usually worn on a cord around his neck.
- Belt knife; plain but well looked after.
- Dice; made of bone, a few sets for various games.
- A pack of cards; worn but serviceable

A firelizard! Finally! Isn't she cute? Kind of moody but I think she's perfect even when she's grumpy.
