A'sa and her exuberant storyteller had joined the festivities, and were excitedly wandering the grounds when the... admittedly horrid sign caught A'sa's eye. She stopped and stared at it, one eye starting to twitch lightly. Her thoughts were interrupted abruptly. ~And then, by chance! Our adventurer spotted a new challenge!~ "Wha-" ~A new foe! A peddler, hawking children in a sidecar!~ "No, that's-... Not now!" ~But when better! Our brave hero must investigate!~

Dismath's splotchy hide wasn't taking 'No' for an answer, and he shoved his shapely head against the small of A'sa's back to shove her towards the table. Once there, she groaned and covered her face with one hand, a thinly-veiled attempt to hide, like that was a worthwhile hiding place. Dismath's disproportionately larger head lined up against the side of the table as he eyed the pots, the eggs, and the mother. ~You seem quite comfortably kept!~ he thought out loud, in his narratory voice. ~May we inspect your eggs? They are so tiny! A'sa-mine, lookit how tiny! Was I that little once?~ "... No. No you were not." ~... You should touch one!~ A'sa's fingers split apart enough that her eyes could stare at her dragon, excitement whirling in his sunset eyes as he gingerly lay one paw on the table, far enough away from the eggs that he hoped not to upset the mother. "... I'd almost suspect you'd impress to one, if you weren't already covered in a matching hide." she muttered, sighing. Her eyes wandered to the sign and twitched again.

Dismath's gaze followed hers. ~A-HA! The hero has spotted the true enemy!~ With a grace unusual to his size, the blue hopped away from the table, careful not to push it, and danced around his rider and up on the far end, trotting to the sign to knock it over and sit on it. ~Be calm, A'sa-mine. I shall subdue the beast... and summon friends!~ "No-don't!" The blue sucked in a great, labored breath, then trumpted out a squeaky little announcement. ~TINY DRAGONS LOOKING FOR HOMES OVER HERE!~ A'sa cringed and covered her ears as though that would help, casting a forlorn look at her rambunctous blue. "... Why...?"

Bekah smiled and nodded at the healer behind her as she walked away. "Happy turnover" she said to him. She couldn't quite remember his name but she recognised him, even if he hadnt had his healer knots on his turnover outfit. She couldnt stay and chat unfortunately as she now had an egg pot in hands and some non perishable foodstuffs to procure for when it hatched.

Free firelizards to good homes? It had taken a long time for Viri to decipher the sign. He had beamed and decided to approach the man in the dining hall. There was a brooding mother and eggs there, too. She certainly seemed protective!

“I saw your sign,” he said, cheerfully.

"Oh, well hello there!" Ilharen exclaimed as the exuberant blue approached and then turned his gaze onto the clearly embarrassed rider, his nose and the corners of his eyes crinkling fondly.

Harmony meanwhile leaned out of her basket to sniff at the Little Big Blue first and then at his rider. Apparently satisfied she shifted and nudged her eggs into a little group under her wing to make it easier for the girl to touch whichever she wanted to.

As the boisterous blue's call rang out Ilharen grinned at A'sa. "I don't mind a bit of help with advertising! Please, go ahead and touch them if y'want to."

Soon enough another Weyrling approached, Ilharen gave him a grin too. "I hope y'could read it alright, writing and I don't get on too well. Y'want t'touch the eggs? Harmony doesn't mind at all."

"Thank you," he grinned when Harmony passed the egg to him. He took the egg and the pot gratefully, and most carefully arranged the egg inside. "Happy turnover!" he returned, making way for the next person in line.

"H-happy turnover!" he replied to Bekah. So she recognized him. That was a very good thing.

The blue licked his rider on the cheek and returned to his trumpeting, every couple of seconds while they were at the table. A'sa smiled apologetically at the table's rider. She'd cringed more for the volume of the words ringing in her mind. The sign now under her blue was less of a distraction, so... he really had kind of... effectively dragged her into conversation with the flit keeper. "Mm, thanks." she muttered, barely audible. She sat at the table and made herself as small against it as she could arrange, which wasn't hard, given she was pretty small to start with, then raised her hand to press the back of her fingers to each egg in turn.

Dismath broke his bugle to bounce excitedly whenever she moved to a new egg, barking an excited 'That one!' in her ear. He seemed most excited for the husky, and A'sa hovered on its shell for a moment while imagery passed over her mind. That personality would match well with Dismath's, but it would be so much easier to be center of attention that way. And Flits had a lot more mobility than Dragons, so she was also imagining trying to control something with that much energy while dealing with Dismath's stories. She carefully peeled her finger off the shell before letting the shiver dance down her spine and locating the one she'd liked the feel of again. "Perhaps that one?" ~Ooh! That's a good one! I can tell!~ She'd heard that four, five times already, so she wasn't taking Dismath's opinions into her considerations anymore.

The egg she was pointing at was the pug, number 10 of the clutch, with its little painted pot. Seemed like a good match for her, and a counter for some of Dismath's energy.

She looked like she minded. “Writing’s hard on the best of us,” he said. He could remember difficulty learning to shape letters when he’d been taught. “She doesn’t?” He asked and put his hand over the eggs hesitantly. He lowered it on one of them.

“How do I choose?” He asked.

Aww, a shy one? Ilharen's expression softened and he nodded encouragement as the young rider's hand returned to one of the shells. "Of course," he said as he reached in to remove it from the steadily dwindling clutch and settled it in its intended pot before setting it on the table for A'sa to take. "Happy turnover, I'm sure y'll have a lot of fun t'gether."

The sentiment of writing being hard got a wry chuckle out of Ilharen and he gave a small but emphatic nod. "Doesn't help when they swim all over when I'm tryin' t'pin them down. As f'the choosing though, just pick one that feels like it'd be a good fit with you and y'dragon - don't worry too much over it though, I've never known Harmony t'have a mean hatchling."

One that fit them? Viri considered that for a long moment and lifted his hand to feel another. Which one would work best with Oximath, he wondered. Which one would help him make sure Maddy was eating instead of studying himself to death?

“Er, maybe this one?” He had his hand on the sixth egg. “I think Oxi will like this one.”
PostPosted: Wed Jul 03, 2019 2:14 pm
Ilharen smiled as Harmony nudged the speckly egg over to Viri; "Good choice," he passed one of the pots over too, "but then, they're all good choices." He was always tempted to keep one for himself, but he was pretty sure that if he started he'd never stop and in a few turns time his bed would've been completely overtaken by the little beasties.

A'sa smiled, happily taking the pot and its egg from the table, and nodding to Ilharen and Harmony. She glanced over at Viri, a full-fledged rider taking a flit into their lives, as well. She couldn't remember having been around him often, but offered another smile and a nod.

~TINY DRAGONS! COME GET THEM! HEY! YOU WANT A TINY DRAGON, RIGHT?~

"Dismath!" A'sa sighed and trotted away from the table to fold back into the crowd, though disappearance was impossible with the narator hot on her heels, hardly aware of the marks left on his hindquarters from sitting on the sign.

Social gatherings were still a struggle. Quite a horrendous one actually. Still Kesarin tried to at least put in an appearance during large celebrations. Some people saw her as a grim reminder, while others seemed to actually take some kind of solace in her appearance. The young woman didn't fully understand their thought processes, and she didn't like being a symbol either, but hiding in her quarters weren't going to make things better. One way or another she needed to start being a part of the world again.

So that was how she found herself in the dining hall. It was early enough that there was plenty of time to excuse herself and people hadn't gotten too boisterous in their celebrations just yet. A little longer and then she would likely excuse herself for the day. Jitter sat on her shoulder, always aware of the crowds, but contently nibbling on some jerky that Kesarin had gotten for him. It was fish. He didn't get fish often, so Jitter was very pleased with that turn of events.

The little blue spied something that caught his attention and stopped his nibbling. He chittered urgently at Kesarin, tugging at a lock of hair hanging around her face.

"Jitter, what is it?" Following the blue's tugging direction, Kesarin found herself looking at a table with a clutch on it. "Ah, you wanting a baby brother or sister?" She hadn't expected it from Jitter. The blue was always so possessive, Kesarin had expected him to value his only child status too much. Maybe as time went on, her little blue was seeking to join the world too. Changing her direction, Kesarin headed to the table, lest Jitter tore her hair out in protest.

Reaching the table, she looked to the blue. "Well? Go on then." With a soft smile from his human, Jitter jumped down onto the table, jerky still in his maw and approached the gold and her clutch. He looked over the eggs from a respectful distance. Glancing down he looked back to Harmony, stretching out his neck and offering her the jerky piece like some kind of tribute. Jitter offered up his very tasty snack to the pretty gold. He would like to pick one of her eggs. For him and his person to look after.

As Kesarin approached the table Ilharen offered her a warm smile and; "Evenin'," by way of greeting. It was good to see her out and about, as far as he knew she spent most of her time in her quarters. He couldn't blame her for that though, who could?

As Jitter approached and offered out his piece of jerky Ilharen chuckled softly and added; "Your little friend's lovely, would he liked t'choose an egg?"

As the blue leaned close Harmony crooned a gentle greeting, reached out to delicately accept the offered meat, and then shifted so that he could take a look at her clutch.

"Good evening," Kesarin returned pleasantly enough. Her smile wasn't nearly as warm as Ilharen's, but they never were these days.

"Seems like it. He's not too much trouble, so I suppose I could try to manage another." There it was, an attempt at humour. Sometimes her attempts were fairly morbid these days, but it was hard to be morbid about eggs. "I'll trust his judgement." Which might turn out to be a terrible decision really.

Jitter crooned in return to Harmony, a noise he didn't make particularly often. The blue shuffled closer, looking over the egg with a keen eye. Seven eggs. Any might be good to be with him and his person, but Jitter must be careful with his choices.

Maybe this one? It had a nervous energy too it. Jitter understood that, but maybe that would be too much nervous for his person. Next.

This one seemed smart. Smart was good. But they seemed very energetic. Could Jitter keep up with energetic? He liked his lazy time. Hm, what else?

Booping his snout against the egg, Jitter thought this one seemed nice. There was a playful energy to them. That was also nice. Still he should look over the others.

The wave of affection Jitter got from the next egg was very pleasant. He liked this one a lot. Maybe this one. Still there were others though and he should be thorough.

This one seemed okay. They were calm, and Jitter liked that, but maybe not the most approachable. Nearly done.

When this egg reached back out to Jitter the blue was surprised by their curiosity. They seemed nice. Sturdy. Sturdy was good.

Last one. Hmm, this one was certainly friendly, but Jitter got the feeling that maybe not the best for Kesarin and his situation. Oh this was a very difficult situation indeed. He looked up at Kesarin and then back over the clutch. Plonking himself down he looked over the eggs carefully. The tiny cogs of his brain turning over the information he had to hand.

"If y'end up with one that's a handful y're welcome t'come give me an earful about it," Ilharen replied with a chuckle as the blue firelizard started to nose at the eggs.

Once the blue had finished inspecting her eggs and flopped down thoughtfully Harmony hummed and nudged the ninth egg and the twelfth egg a little closer to him and hummed encouragement.

"Looks like they've got it covered, eh?" Ilharen observed fondly, reaching over to give his firelizard a scratch as he spoke.
