Firelizards by the Fire (All gone!)

If he'd judged it right he had perhaps an hour before things got too busy in here, and in a Weyr with a population of many hundreds it wouldn't take that long to get this done.

With some effort Ilharen dragged one of the dininghall's huge tables off at an angle so that he could sit facing the entrance with Harmony in her basket with her eggs, and his propped up sign written in chalk on slate, in view on the table.

He wasn't sure about the sign but it was a bit of a last minute addition anyway, and writing always looked faintly wrong to him so who knew? He knew that the handwriting was more than awful but the spelling?... Close enough.

Ilharen's firelizard Harmony has laid a clutch, and the eggs are nearly ready to hatch! To celebrate turnover he's giving them away to the people of the Weyr, one is already promised to F'ked but the others are up for grabs.

If you would like to request an egg for your character please make a short IC post for them approaching him in the dininghall and requesting one of the eggs, just a couple of sentences is fine but it must be with the character you intend it for. You can request an egg with a character you haven't created yet, but they must be at Fort Weyr IC. One egg per character and max two per player to begin with, first come first served. The clutch is based on dog breeds!

EDIT: Now open to up to three eggs per player, and up to two per character!

F'rell was nervous as he approached the sign and the clutch of eggs guarded by their mother. He has been wanting a flit for rather a long while but had never had the opportunity. Tininth gave him the confidence to ask this time. He was a rider now so surely it would be ok? "Would it be alright to touch this one?" He asked indicating egg number 3. Something about it and the pot it was in drawing him more than any of the others

Ilharen nodded to F'rell and flashed him a smile, whilst Harmony trilled and shifted her wing to allow access.

"It's yours if y'd like it," the rider encouraged.

F'rell thanked ilharen... and harmony before taking his pot and leaving


A smallish healer girl approached next. Asking if she could touch several to get a feel of them before she made a final choice.

"F'sure, go right ahead," Ilharen replied with a fluid gesture to the basket. Harmony blinked and hummed in a friendly manner, lifting her wings again just a bit so that the human could touch whichever eggs she wished to.

With a smile and a thanks Bekah gently touched several eggs. A few stood out as possibilities but one more than the others. She kept her hands on egg number 2. "Would it be alright if I took this One?" She asked him. "How many marks?" She asked. Not considering they could be free. Assuming that you just didn't get Something, especially flit eggs, for nothing. "Or a trade?" She added.

"It's yours," Ilharen smiled and stroked Harmony's back, who crooned and nudged the large egg into the young woman's care. "And no charge," Ilharen continued with a chuckle and a little shake of his head. "Call it a turnover gift, eh?"

"OH!" she explained. Pleasantly surprised. "Well thank you! That's so kind. Thank you too mother fire lizard" she beamed happily. Fishing half a meatroll she had been saving for later, out of her dress pocket. "And a turnover gift for your sweet flit" she said. Holding it out to harmony.

"Y're most welcome, enjoy the rest of the celebrations!"

Harmony echoed this sentiment and sent Bekah a feeling of thanks for the meatroll, which she promptly set about devouring.

A very young healer came up in line after Bekah. He wasn't sure she'd recognize him so he decided to say nothing to her unless she responded to him first. When it was his turn he approached and asked politely, "Turnover gifts? That is very kind of you. May I?"

"Y'certainly may," Ilharen said warmly to the youngster, gesturing again to Harmony and her eggs as he spoke. "Harmony'll let you touch any you like, just let us know when y've made a decision."

"Thank you." The platinum-haired healer, named Kalwoel, watched Harmony curiously and was careful to indicate an egg before touching it. He did this several times before settling on number four, the poodle egg. "I'd like this one," he said with a little smile on his face.

Harmony watched the young human watch her with gently whirling blue eyes. Once he'd made his selection she shifted the egg out from amongst its siblings and pushed it towards him with a "Chrrp!"

Ilharen passed one of the pots to Kalwoel to keep the egg safe until it hatched. "Happy turnover!"
