What was Turnover without a race? On the second day of Turnover a race for dragons has been marked through the mountains of Fort. The route is short, but taxing. Providing some challenging obstacles for smaller colours and being short enough that with skill they can outpace their stronger kin.

The winner will be the dragon that rolls the highest number.
1st prize 100 marks
2nd prize 75 marks
3rd prize 50 marks

Any post that has an rp post will receive 25 marks regardless of result.
All dragons over 18 months may participate
You may enter as many different characters as you want

Green - 6 4-sided (6 to 24)
Blue - 4 6-sided (4 to 24)
Brown - 3 8-sided (3 to 24)
Bronze - 2 12-sided (2 to 24)
Whites - Roll for the colour closest to their size -1 dice

D'lana & Liarth

At the start of the course D'lana pulled down her goggles, slapped Liarth on the shoulder, and leaned forward like a jockey on a runner as they awaited the signal to begin. The moment the gong rang out Liarth bugled and sprang into the sky with powerful beats of his wings, he was lighter and lither than many a bronze and he hoped that served him well today!

As the cold air rushed over her face D'lana glanced around at their rivals, so far it seemed that they were in the middle of the pack and much though she knew Liarth wanted to win - alright, she did too - that actually suited quite well. If one of the Weyrleaders won where was the fun for everyone else? She could deal with a bit of dust kicked in her face for the sake of celebrations, and she wasn't just thinking that because they weren't winning. Definitely not.

Ilharen and Cimarath (with the right dice this time)

"Ready?" Ilharen grinned and rubbed Cimarath's face as the white turned to look at him and crooned. "Let's see how tight we can take those turns, it looks like a fun course yeah?" It might not be the most efficient way to race but neither he nor his dragon really cared about winning anyway, being in the midst of rushing wings and pounding hearts, and almost brushing rock with wingtips, sounded like far more fun.

Sh'shi and Fiskenerath

Why are we doing this? Fiskenerath gave a dramatic yawn as they waited for the starting call. He could have been curled in his wallow. Or watching the going-ons from his ledge. But no. He was here. Surrounded by other dragons waiting to take part in a race.

Every now and again it would be good to show the youngsters that you can actually fly, Sh'shi responded as she adjusted her gloves. Honestly the weather meant that her bones weren't all this happy about this either.

They know I can fly. I taught them to fly. The brown complained.

Well, then the faster you finish the sooner you can go back to being your lazy self. Had Sh'shi not had over fifty turns experience with the brown, he might have been able to surprise her with his sudden take-off. She however was far too used to his tricks now to fall for that kind of nonsense.

V'lon and Mirath

"Come on! Are we flying, or are we sightseeing?" V'lon whacked his blue hard, but not hard enough to hurt by any means, as they 'raced' along the course.

Mirath crooned as he took a turn around an obstacle, Don't worry I'm pacing us, we'll take them on the next lap.

There is no next lap!

...Woops.

A moment later V'lon yelled as his blue put on a belated burst of speed, better late than never?

V' and Lithustoth

Ready?

Ready.

Right. V' grinned with a scimitar gleam and pulled down her goggles. Let's shaff them up.

There was a whoop in the air as a bronze and his rider joined in. "WHEEEHOOO!" the voice called, and she could feel the pull of her hat's tether at her neck as the strength of air tried to blow it away. Good thing she'd tied that. It looked like a good start... Then there was a jarring thud as her quiet bronze's feet got caught in one of the obstacles and progress was halted, the bronze picking himself back up.

D'io and Amaryssoth

"Yee-aah! Let's get this show started!" shouted D'io! It wasn't just for his dragon's benefit, but for everyone around them. "Let's see who wins the race!"

Amaryssoth grunted an affirmative. He was ready to go!

Well, after a while D'io realized that they were nowhere close to the top racers. But that was okay, since the race, while for marks, was also just for fun. He continued to encourage his Bronze and the other riders until the very end.

The results are in!

1st: V' and Green Lithustoth pulled forward to take first place and claimed 100 marks!

Ultimately D'lana and Bronze Liarath took second place but passed on claiming the prize, as did Ilharen and white Cimarath who whisked in a hair behind the cocky bronze.

2nd: Next in were Sh'shi and Brown Fiskenerath, who were awarded 75 marks.

3rd: And the final prize-placers were D'io and Bronze Amaryssoth, who claimed 50 marks.

In addition to this all riders in the top third of the race received a bonus of 25 marks - congratulations to you all!
