F'er and Brown Clauth

. . . . . The pair reached the feeding area with no difficulty, and it was with that same level that Fisher - no - F'er, she supposed, started to chop up the meat. She didn't miss the way her brown looked back at the sands though, and his silence. . . . . .

"Hey, pay attention and eat. Don't worry 'bout them for now, we need to get your stomach filled first." A soft bonk on the nose got the dragonet's attention, and he turned back to face his rider. The red in Clauth's eyes was still there, though from what F'er was coming to understand it was likely his default state of mind than actual anger. "Here you go. You need smaller pieces, lemme know."

The baby took the sliver of meat without issue, chomping a bit before guzzling it down. It's fine. Those two out there are not following orders and are making a scene. I'm glad we left before they started. He huffed and opened his jaws again, allowed F'er to deposit more. They will be trouble. All of them are trouble.

F'er snickered a little, feeling the raw emotions in their new bond. "I take it you don't like your siblings very much." When Clauth didn't answer F'er didn't press any more.

Farellen laughed again "you'll never get it back!" he said quietly, playing along, stepping back with hands raised as the blue pretended to hit him, Farellen went down, dramatically, in slow motion to match the blue's swipe "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" he cried, trying not to bust out in laughter.

~~~
It was that moment Serfie realised that it had been the baby DRAGONS talking all along, but not talking, it was in her head, OF COURSE ... she felt rather stupid because she knew enough to know that dragons and riders talked to each other in their heads, but she didn't realise they could project if they wanted, nor that they could talk before they were Impressed. She did however have to snort derisively at the mock playing ... She didn't have time for this, she could be discovered any minute, she HAD to Impress...
Sunset Blue laughed triumphantly at his “foe” went down. Yes! Good shall always win! I have beaten you and now I shall retrieve the valuable item! The blue raced past the fallen candidate and made for the nearest table; which unfortunately happened to be a healer’s table. He grabbed a towel from a stack and ran back dragging his “trophy”. Must to the probable dismay of the healers.
Teal Stripe Green however was looking torn. She looked from her brother to the fallen candidate, then back to her brother now dragging the towel. She didn’t want to hurt her brother’s feelings but. The green ran over to Farellen. I’m sorry! Your Tininth will always pick your team FarellenMine. Her gaze whirled with rainbows as she looked down at the boy.
Sunset Blue froze mid stride. Oh no! What is this?! The dashing adventurer betrayed by his dearest comrade and friend. What will he do now?
Farellen laughed, he really couldn't help it "oh nooo, i am defeated!" and pretended to faint, It wasn't until the blue had moved away that he opened his eyes, only to look into rainbow whirling ones. "M...my Tininth?" he said, suddenly numb, "Tininth...." he wrapped long arms around her and held her for a moment, "You're the best Teammate a guy could ask for" he said, chuckling "There's no need to be sorry ... EVER" he laughed, looking at her brother who had his trophy but lost his sidekick, he hoped the blue found His soon.
"does this mean i'm a bad guy now?" She asked Sunset Blue even as she walked off to the feeding tables with Fare....no F'rell, She felt rather guilty about leaving him but she had Hers, she couldn't play anymore, and she was rather hungry
Serfie was surprised it had been the quiet green, not the blue that Impressed to that dumb boy who threw himself to the ground, Oh well, one less dragon to notice her, she wasn't sure at that moment if it was good or bad.
Candidate Turanves
Turan was very careful to keep his face impassive as candidates started playing along with the dragonets. What was this turning into? Was this a daycare now? But with all the commotion, the dark green had managed to find her rider at least.
Where was his dragon? He looked doubtfully at the blue still dragging the towel. Surely not. Which meant he only had two chances left. He turned his eyes to the dark Shadow Egg and the lighter Yellow Green Egg.
Chellemana // Candidate / Apprentice Winemaker
Chelle snorted at the circus this Hatching had become. Their lip started to curl until they saw Nassah's reactions. Clearly she thought these two show-stealing dragons (and the Candidates playing along) were funny. They had not heard Nassah laugh in any way for quite some time. Perhaps it was all right, they decided, sighing to let out the growing tension.
They turned their eyes to where the remaining eggs lay. It was time for these other eggs to hatch. Come out. Soon.
Nashanna // Candidate / Apprentice Glassmaker
Nassah watched the pair of dragons and their antics. Then they brought Candidates into their game. She didn't participate but she did laugh along with them and played the background character with some appropriate reactions to their very clear mental voices.
- - -
Rothgar // Candidate / Apprentice Beastcrafter
Another riot, this time with a pair of hatchlings. This whole clutch seemed to be nutty. Even the mellow ones were interesting. What a great future these riders would have with such fun friends. Rothgar was definitely jealous.
Aessa was too stunned at the display to join in. She could still feel sand in her robes from that fall when one boy was 'taken down' by Blue Justice and his not-so-faithful greeny-black shadow. She had read ballads like the story the blue wove, but she wondered if now was the time for stories and ballads. If a bookshelf were to dance so, books would fly everywhere and never be read!
With a glance at the candidate master, the green, and her rider, to notice that none was doing anything to curb the silly behavior, she decided it must be acceptable. The normally shy girl let a grin crack on her face, and murmured under her breath. "Yes, we have turned one of them. Now you are without your sidekick! Whatever shall you do?" She couldn't help a genuine smile breaking over the flawed attempt at a sinister grin. Perhaps this could be fun after all. Was this what babysitting was like? Did all dragonets play games like this?
M’li laughed and shook her head. She’d never seen anything like it before. The blue however seemed quite ready and willing to continue his little game. Starelth dear, you might want to step in a bit. The woman could feel the green’s amusement. Her monotone reached out to her adorable little blue. I know you are having fun, but it is time you found your rider. They are waiting for you.
Of course not Tininth! You’re the bestest teammate. Sunset Blue made a sad little sound as he heard his mother. Awwwww mom, do I have to? A firm feeling from his mother confirmed that yes he did. The blue sighed then perked back up.
Betrayed by his closest friend, what was our hero to do? Well if you can’t beat them join them! Sunset Blue bounced back across the sands, heading towards Aessa. Did you enjoy your Dismath’s story AessaMine? You can be the main character next time!
"Oh no, borrow away," V' replied with an approving nod for M'li. "Crap happens," she went on by way of explanation with an expressive shrug of her scarred and wiry shoulders for nonchalant emphasis, "borrowing trouble you don't need keeps you sharp, just don't let it overwhelm you." She liked M'li, kind of felt attached to all of her classmates actually, and so she was happy to pass on a lesson or two from her life experiences to them - moons knew she'd learned plenty herself from the Weyr's ways since she'd got Searched, so as far as she saw it they had plenty to learn from her too.
As the green and the blue played together V' snorted and folded her arms over her chest with a crooked little grin curving her lips. "Hope their riders get on, looks like a good team in the making there," she observed as the tiny staged drama played itself out.
"Looks like they've finished up whatever it was they were doing." F'er dropped more meat into her dragon's mouth, doing her absolute best to gauge just how hungry he really was. She'd been told that dragonets would lie with their stomachs and so she needed to feel the proper amount out. He was larger than some of the smaller ones coming in so at the very least she needed to make sure he wasn't actually starving. "Aren't you glad?"
No. They're reckless and could get others hurt. We'd do well to avoid that. It was almost endearing how the little brown was so straight forward. When the come over, ignore them and focus on the task at hand. Playtime is for much later.
F'er snorted again. "Well aren't you the duty-type."
For a moment all was quiet. Only two eggs remained. Now it was their turn. As if sensing all eyes were turned on it, Shadow Egg gave a violent rock as the dark shell shattered. Rising up ominously from the crushed eggshell remains, the hatchling flared their wings. While most of the baby looked bronze, there were strange gold-ish markings along the belly and tail tip. Bronze or Gold?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:31 pm
F'rell was just starting to get Tininth fed when another egg hatched, he looked over to see a Bronze...no wait.. could it be a Gold?! .... Hatch. In his distraction he nicked his thumb with the knife he was using to cut up a chunk of food for Tininth, her teeth being bigger than normal meant it was a little harder for her to chew, so he was cutting it up into smaller chunks for her.
Tininth hersef said nothing, except to give a small creel when F'rell cut himself, but it wasn't bad, and he had food, that outweighed her concern for the moment as she very carefully chewed.
~~~~~~~

Serfie stared, the silly blue Impressed, good, she was rather glad it wasn't to her. but then the egg she had been focusing on, hatched and her stomach dropped, her heart thudded harder in her chest as she started to panic a little. At this point, Gold or Bronze didn't matter to her, she just wanted to hide ffrom the hatchling.

Nashanna

Chellemana

Rothgar

A collective gasp issued from their mouths. A metallic dragon of unknown sex, for their hide appeared bronze and gold.

No wonder you thought you were so great Nashanna snorted. Her stomach churned with conflicting emotions: envy, anger, pride, desire. She could not say which, if not all.

Chellemana's mismatched eyes widened. Oh. Is that so? They would have been happy to see a Brown, perhaps. But a metallic requires leadership skill and charisma, if one were to be traditional. This one probably would lean that way. Chelle looked away, to the yellowy-green egg. When will you come out, little one?

Rothgar had similar feelings to Chellemana, but his mind did not begin shut down to the idea. So what if gold colored the bronze? Or vice versa?

This dragonet knew it was the best and what everyone had truly been waiting for. They arched their neck and viewed those standing before them. Clearly the inferior specimens had been led off already. It also meant there were less candidates to choose from.

The dragonet rose from its pile of shards. He, for yes it was a bronze despite the odd gold markings, turned his eyes towards the candidate-who-was-not. I know your secret, he whispered to Serfie alone. Oh no. She hadn’t escaped his notice.

Shadow Bronze turned his head to regard the others. So you thought there was another did you? Someone to steal his limelight? He rose to his feet and stalked towards Yellow Green Egg, his eyes whirling a dark red.

Hu.

V' leaned forward and squinted at the new arrival, not a gold right? Course a gold would be most people's dreams come true but for her?....

Na, had to be a bronze anyway right? With this decided V' snorted and slouched back comfortably, rubbing absently at the raised scar on her arm that announced her name to the world.

But.... A gold. Couldn't be a gold right? What did it mean if it was? It meant whatever young tit down there who Impressed it would outrank her, would rank alongside the Weyrleaders she already sort of resented the moment they graduated. Shaff that, she'd take off with a few friends and found Tailfork Weyr sooner than bow to an egg-wet gold.
