Name: R'naer
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weyrbrat
Physical Description: Tall and leanly muscled, 6'4 with green eyes and dark brown hair and circle beard. Well shaped hands that are gentle when handling any creature be it giant dragon, tiniest firelizard or a super fussy baby.
Personality: Ninety eight percent of the time R'naer is calm, cool and collected a genuinely sweet guy with a bit of a wandering spirit. He likes to watch people and dragons and wild wherries and anything else that crosses his path. He is affectionate to those people who are close to him and will do anything for his best friends, he is who you want by your side in a disaster, and in a stressful situation he is very dependable and resourceful. In the day to day life he is a care free spirit spending his time with his dragon in or out of the weyr a pool of unhurried, sauntering calm. But every once in a very blue moon he blows his top. Its not always known what sets him off, but usually it has very deep structure, a scheme years in the making by people who dont have the good of the weyr at heart. Or candidates who are so reckless as to anger a queen at hatching. The really soul wrenching issues bring about a volcanic reaction in the normally calm brown rider. Everyone walks softly on these days.
Positive Trait List
Confident
Loving
Observant
Care Free
Negative Trait List
Quirky
Unhurried
Deep Buried Rage
History: The eldest son of Delatche, Rhanaer has always been a big supporter of his Mother. He visits her often. She was a big influence on him and inspired him to stand as a candidate. She has always been the one steady thing in his life. He impressed his brown the first time he stood at a hatching. This he feels pulled him from his younger siblings due to the responsibility of raising a dragon. He suspects that this is responsible for the rift between himself and his younger brother.

R'naer has a scar o nhis hand from one particular argument with his brother, he knows U'men feels guilty deep down. But accidents happen and R'nawr has forgiven him.

R'naer was considering transfering to High Reaches to take pressure off of his little brother, however then the double clutch fiasco happened and transfers became more difficult but perhaps it is for the best.
Other: He is proud to ride a brown as he looked up to his mother's dragon a lot.

DRAGON
Name: Mustanth
Age: 7
Color: Brown
Size: 37
Physical Description:Mustanth has a long neck, tail and wings, shorter face and large feet, muscular hide quarters make for explosive leaps into the air.
Personality: Mustanth likes to observe the world, he watches everything that goes on at the weyr then tells his rider about it. To the point where R'naer might drift off in a conversation with someone else to listen to his dragons news bite. Mustanth is solid, dependable and wise, a good balance to his riders lack of structure. He is the speed to R'naer's unhurriedness.

Name: Karinne
Age: 32
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: /squint/
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Woodcrafter - Carpentry
Physical Description: Karinne is a thicky built woman who has clearly handled heavy things all her life, though her hands are exceedingly delicate considering. She has thick auburn hair and pale amber eyes on a round face with thin lips, a slightly wide nose, and heavy-lidded eyes.
Personality: It is easy to forget about Karinne. There is an absolute plainness about the woman that doesn't lean too far in either direction - her vices seem to really only affect herself and her goodness doesn't reach so far that one could define her as more than simply decent. She is helpful, but not to the point where she's chomping at the bit to do it. She is diligent, but you wouldn't notice it unless she was to stop whatever task she was set to. Content to fade into the background, she is happiest when busy.

It is hard to get under Karinne's skin. She is assured of her worth despite the lack of impression she leaves on others and as she doesn't seek validation from others, she is not easy to manipulate. Unfortunately, that can make it difficult to set Karinne to a task she doesn't want to do on her own even if the intentions are good. She does good and works hard because she wants to, and such things are defined solely by herself. Even threats of punishment don't do the trick.

Because of her lack of presence and independence, Karinne doesn't have much of a social impact and at times it is hard to capture her in the actual here and now, leaving her socially uneloquent and endlessly frustrating to be around for many people. She will always keep a very select group of friends, though it is hard to say who will stick around in the long term.
Positive Trait List Hardworking, Self Motivated, Surehearted
Negative Trait List Easily Forgotten, ONLY Self-Motivated, Socially Frustrating
History: Where Karinne came from before she came into the home of a pair of Woodcrafters is anybody's guess. From a single glance at either man, it was -and still is - obvious she was neither of theirs biologically, and the girl never cared to ask. She was loved, and she was happy to be under both of their feet and have her hands all over their work. Kanrin was a studious maker of furniture, and his husband, Narie, was a capable woodworker at the crafthall in Lemos, processing wood brought in so it could be worked by gentler, more skilled hands.

Karinne, never a bother, suffered little drama in her life. A teenage heartbreak here, an occasional argument with one of her fathers there, but otherwise the most that could have been said about her was that she was exceedingly plain. So plain, in fact, most considered her unnotable until she was Searched at the age of 20 by Benden Weyr.

From there, it would be more of a surprise when the young woman impressed a sturdy blue with perhaps a bit more personality on the surface than she had. The lack of structure beyond the very basics soon had both girl and dragon both at the hold of Karinne's childhood, even if it wasn't much better than Benden in Hrimnith's opinion.

The two were delivering a piece made by Kanrin to Western Weyr when First Fall began, and it was a quick and easy decision for both to make their trip home a quick one - one for goodbyes, to gather up some things, and to permanently settle to a proper cause.
Other: Karinne Theme Song

DRAGON
Name: Hrimnith
Age: 11
Color: Blue
Size: 30'
Physical Description: Thick bodied and short legged, Hrimnith is no image of draconic grace and could even be considered stubby to some.
Personality: Stubborn to his very core, to say Hrimnith is pig headed would be giving him more credit than this blue deserves. Even in a losing fight he won't back down - and if he's in the right, he will tear down the skies and dig up every stone from the center of the earth to prove it. Even his rider will find this part of him hard to handle if left unchecked. Further,Hrimnith is judging you, and he is none too gentle about his assessments. Those he thinks are in the wrong will find it hard to dig themselves out of that pit and those he thinks are in the right? He will follow them to the ends of Pern and it will be exceedingly difficult to convince him to do otherwise.

This makes him a good ally to have in your corner and a bad enemy to have. But it also gives the impression that he's exceedingly stupid. Which he is, to a degree. Hrimnith is a very superficial dragon which will show in the company he keeps in all forms. This also reflects in how he presents himself, despite the innate ugliness one could say he has about him. He is always immaculate, and will be just as particular about his gear, his placement in wing formations, and the presentation of his rider. This makes him as reliable as clockwork, but he'll also nitpick those around him and may be inclined to talk back at those in a position of authority over him.

At the end of the day, his sense of natural goodness and dedication to the cause he was born to shine, if not a little frustratingly.

Content warning: Violence and implied physical harassment

Name: D'ein
Age: 27
Sex: Trans man
Sexual Orientation: Hmmmmm....
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weyrbrat
Physical Description: Well below average height at 5'5" he appears to be nothing more than a teenager himself despite nearing his thirties but he shows no signs of it. Thin and willowy with a natural tendency towards going with the flow rather than fighting against it, he is strong but it shows in different ways than brute nature. D'ein's skin is tanned from being outdoors quite often and astride a dragon, slight freckles run the bridge of his nose below his brown eyes and lines from squinting into the sunlight are just starting to pull at the corners of those large orbs. Shoulder length hair is pulled back into a tail with a fringe of bangs that run across his forehead and get longer just before his ears, though he can let it down it often annoys him with it's thickness and finds it easier.

The scars on his arms pale in comparison to the scarring that mars his back, given to him by the claws of an angry brown hatchling that took the life of one of his friends. D'ein had attempted to save his friend and paid the price with his own flesh before Haezeth cracked from his shell to save his life-mate. Long and angry in both shape and appearance, the scars range from the nape of his neck and shoulders down nearly to his tailbone. He will be the very first to tell any Candidate to avoid getting between a dragon and it's intended target, knowing full well what it means to do so.

Personality: D'ein believes that to be perfect and beautiful in all things is to be as hard and cruel as the mountains or the stars in the cold night sky. Better to be beautiful in a state of imperfect, messy and loving and everything warm and inviting that life has to offer, better to be a human with a heart open and accepting. He believes this with all his heart and has often been the voice of love and reason in life when pain and terror come to darken doors in any form that they might take. Hate, suffering, death and heartache only make him kinder, only make him stronger than he was before so that he can protect and shelter those that need it. Thread broke his heart and so he gave it to those that lost their own in the form of family, friends, or even dragons. His gentle nature is not to be mistaken for weakness, anyone that threatens his loved ones stands the risk of a harsh talking to and a depth-less anger that will take quite some time to dissipate. Some have tried to tell him that he is naive for showing such love and care to everyone no matter who they are or what they have to say to him for it, but the man has seen death and has known pain deep in his own heart, he knows that he is nothing of the sort (at least no longer).

Quiet until spoken to and very sweet the moment he opens his mouth, a sarcastic word has never passed through D'ein's lips and he prefers to be professional rather than mocking or flippant. His kind demeanor is most likely the cause of this and the gentle words he speaks are often soft, almost a whisper, until he's in the air receiving orders or yelling to others over the beating of wings and searing of Thread. This gives him a raspy voice at the end of the day and is usually blamed for his soft voice, though any that know him well should be aware that D'ein has never spoken loudly unless necessary. Professionalism and kindness aside he does like to joke around and have a good time, though never at the risk of insulting anyone.

Secrets and mystery are not D'ein's nature, he grew up in the Weyr beside many of the riders he now battles Thread with and any secret he might have pales to the one they all know. Having been born in the wrong body he has made no attempt to hide his actual gender and though he is as discreet as possible when it comes to how he interacts with others it is certainly no secret. Rather he is altogether happy that he was born into the open minded nature of a Weyr, even the most traditional on Pern, as he was accepted by most of those around him and though it was never a cake-walk he need not explain and defend his life as he might have in a hold. There are a few that made comments as to the color of dragon that D'ein might Impress during Candidacy, however that group has been appropriately silent for years in the wake of the Haezeth's choice.
Positive Trait List Compassionate, Professional, Discreet
Negative Trait List Anti-secrets, Quiet, Slightly Naive
History: Born to Western Weyr as the daughter of two Lower Cavern workers that tried to raise her but found themselves too busy and quickly split up, Daviein grew up somewhat alone in the Creche. Many of the children in the Creche didn't know what to do with her as she, very early on, stated she was not a girl but a boy born into the wrong body. There was a bit of resistance in the very beginning but thanks to the rather open nature of a Weyr versus a Hold, the tension of that eased over time and he actually began to make friends within the group of children that resided there. From the moment that Daviein could talk he became the voice of reason among the children of the Creche and was considered, in some odd way, to be the mother of the group with his soft voice and gentle ways.

As luck would have it his very nature gained him friendship among the other children and if there was ever anyone that spoke out about his appearance or personality they were quickly met with a wall of resistance in his friends. Those friends came and went as they all grew up, some of the older ones going on to Impress and others going off to apprentice, the younger ones like Daviein stayed and either worked to help the Weyr function by doing tasks given to them or generally ran amok. Usually he was in the group of the former, choosing to make himself useful rather than cause any trouble, he transitioned into his Candidacy without much problem and happily took up studies in everything that Western could offer him. Often found in the Records Room with scrolls and hides unbound all around him, the now teenage boy was his most vulnerable at these times and that vulnerability was abused on one memorable occasion that ended with a rider being removed from the Weyr for his violating the personal space that Daviein did his best to keep.

On the heels of the encounter Daviein realized his own naivete about his safety and began to dress and act in accordance with what he saw other men doing around him. Though he still did nothing to hide his otherwise confusing nature, he showed far less skin and his friends would come to comment how he wore it as if it were armor that none could penetrate through. Luckily for him it seemed that the violation of his body had been a one time thing at the hands of a man that thought he deserved more than he had. The Candidatemaster assured him that he would never face such things again while he was standing as a Candidate in the Weyr and his friends offered their support for their even quieter friend as he came to terms with what had happened and how he would forge through the constant anxiety.

As luck would have it he did not have to stand as a Candidate more than once, the very first time was his last and it had been more than enough just that one time. While standing at the age of fifteen for a large clutch of eggs he was happy to be with friends that encouraged him to try and reach out to the steadily hatching dragonets, a few of them Impressing to his joy before the Sands were ripped apart. An angry brown hatchling tore it's way from it's egg and proceeded to tear through all the candidates that tried to approach him, all trying to calm his screaming anger. Daviein stepped forward to catch the angry brown dragon, hoping to talk him down from the destruction and was slapped full in the face by a tail as the little dragon turned it's whirling red eyes on one of his friends. Startled and stunned by the blow that had been more powerful than he was expecting, he turned back to see the brown tearing at an older boy, ripping his chest, face, and arms to shreds as the boy screamed on his back.

Launching himself at the brown hatchling once more, the teenager caught it by the back legs and pulled it from his friend, causing the angry creature to turn it's eyes on him this time. Before it could even begin it's onslaught, which would have proved fatal, Daviein ran from it, ducking and twisting out of it's reach to grab his friend, trying his hardest to drag him to the edge of the sands. Blood soaked his robes and Candidates screamed all around him as he was caught in the back by claws that raked down his skin, still he refused to stop pulling his dying friend away from the carnage, even as tears ran down his face and gasps of pain took him to his knees. Sure that he was about to die at the claws of the angry hatchling for taking him away from his intended victim, the attacks suddenly ceased and he could only look through blurry eyes in the direction the brown was looking, dragging himself back to his feet to try once more. Through eyes watery from tears he saw the large bronze hatchling that snarled at his brother who actually cowed to face him, showing a cowardice that a ringing voice told Daviein was a telltale sign of his brother's weakness.

Confused by the sharp voice he could only continue to stare as the bronze dragon strode forward and shoved him from his feet to the sand. Pushing his face into Daviein's he, Haezeth as he referred to himself, informed his newly bonded rider that he would see no further harm come to him and would gladly help him to remove his friend's body from the sands if he asked it of him. Still thoroughly confused but beginning to understand more with each breath he pulled into his shaky lungs, D'ein ran his hand over the bronze muzzle and the rainbow that met his eyes filled the boy's heart so fully that he finally understood just how loved and needed he indeed was. Pulling himself up to much groaning and shaking, blood still pouring down his back, D'ein did the last thing he could ever do for his friend and carried him from the sands with Haezeth's help. Healers swarmed him, taking his friend and forcing him onto a stretcher face down, to his immense relief.

From that moment on he could only think of the day with a mix of uplifting joy and deep crushing sorrow, knowing that though he Impressed his friend would never know that same feeling, or indeed any feeling ever again. D'ein had seen enough death by that time in his life that he was truly caught off-guard when Thread returned many years after his Weyrling training and his gentle heart broke even further. Haezeth proved to be incredibly adept at burning the wicked stuff from the air, having taken his training flights as seriously as D'ein himself did and the two made quiet the pair of flying aces in the air, wanting only to see the Thread removed and other riders protected.
Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: Haezeth
Age: 12 - 3563.02.14
Color: Bronze
Size: 46'
Physical Description: This big bronze isn't just big, he's immense. Built streamlined but long with lots of lean muscle and a spectacular wingspan, Haezeth is simply hard to miss. Generally his faceted eyes tend towards red or orange with his rough irritation.
Personality: Haezeth is a bronze that knew exactly what he wanted from the moment he broke his tough shell and he saw it reflected in the eyes of his perfect match, standing on the sands before him looking so small and concerned, so covered in the blood of both himself and another. If any should be brave enough to point out the oddness of his rider they'll be met with a pair of swirling red eyes and and even if his teeth stay covered his radiating anger is often enough to have grown men back away from him, no matter how brave they believe themselves. This dragon made the correct choice in partner thank you, any with a differing opinion can see their way to the door, a dragon always knows best and D'ein's peaceful and compassionate personality balances out his strong and often opinionated one.

So help anyone that does anything to hurt his rider, from his mental state to anything involving his physical being. Haezeth keeps a safe eye on anything that his brown brother, the one that scarred his beloved rider so, might be doing. To the bronze dragon's amusement he left the Weyr, but that didn't keep him from keeping tabs on him and certainly galvanized his desire to protect both his rider and the people that his rider desired to keep safe.

Social but not to the point of being overly friendly with anyone, he enjoys the company of his wingmates and will happily spend time with them even outside of maneuvers and training. Friendship is not a strong point of his, he's more protective of others than friendly, but there are a fair few that have made their way into his hearts through constant attempts. Once the hard shell of Haezeth's defenses is broken through he's actually kind and can be sweet to those rare few. He isn't all prickly and overprotective.

Not as power hungry as some of the other bronze dragons that fly in the wings of Western, this bronze will be the very first to tell any of them that he is fine with where he ranks. Just because he does not have a strong drive to be the Weyrleader or rank as high as he can in the hierarchy of his Weyr does not mean that he is lacking in ambition, instead he keeps it close to his chest and watches the ever fluctuating state of things with a careful eye for his own uses. The opportunity for power to change hands can happen rather quickly and one can rest assured that Haezeth is paying attention and biding his time for the moment to arise where he might gain even a slight rise in rank.

Name:. Robhin
Age: 23 (Nameday 3551.04.20)
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: as gay as a picnic basket
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Harper

Physical Description: At 5'6", Robhin is a small dynamo. She's built wiry, slender and whippy, all lean ripcord muscle and coiled energy. Her heart-shaped face is sharp and impish, with enormous uptilted green eyes and a ring piercing in the left side of her lower lip, a straight nose and pouty mouth. Her dark honey-blond hair is straight and scruffy and hangs to the middle of her back, sometimes pulled back into a messy ponytail. She's got a pale complexion that's just suntouched enough to look slightly tawny. Tattoos in blue cover both arms; she'll roll up long sleeves or wear sleeveless shirts to show them off.

She dresses in fairly form-fitting trousers and shirts of varying fabrics and materials; a bit of a peacock, she enjoys wearing leather and linen in strong, vibrant colors, often elaborately decorated. Robhin does have workaday clothing as well for doing chores and flying Thread. Her flight leathers are a rich dark blue. Dresses? HAH. You'll never catch her in a dress. Her favorite color is Harper Blue.

Personality: Hard-living, hard-working, and hard-drinking, Robhin is a lover AND a fighter, high-energy and manic. "On" all the time, she'll dance on the tables and flirt with whatever lady catches her eye and get into deep angry philosophical discussions on the state of Pern all in the same evening, and all for fun. Outspoken and blunt, she will LET YOU KNOW AT FULL VOLUME PRECISELY HOW SHE FEELS, SHARD IT. And it's okay if you hold a different opinion, it really is! Just don't be a wher about it and you'll get along just fine with her.

A total control freak, Robhin has a natural distrust of people trying to take advantage of her. She wears her defiance and fierce independence on her sleeve. She's a quarrelsome, belligerent tunnelsnake of a girl -- she's incredibly impatient with people and situations, with poor impulse control on top of it. She feels that she is AWESOME and she makes no bones about ensuring everybody knows it. Aggressive and ambitious, the world as she sees it revolves around her. She can act like a complete spoiled brat when she's at her worst, demanding that she be given what she feels she has earned NOW. There's no real arrogance here, despite all appearances; it's more an innate self-assurance combined with occasionally forgetting there are other people in the world besides herself. She's working on reining herself in with Aloyith's help.

Her passions run deep, whether it's, well, passion or one of her causes. Robhin cares deeply about the Western Continent and the state of things there: things like having to rely on other Weyrs for firestone, rampant banditry and crime in Rivercrest Hold, etc. She will fight for her friends and their causes as fervently as she fights for her own. She also loves her wine, women, and song and is the biggest booze snob on the planet. She's the kind of friend who will happily play babysitter when out partying; she'll wipe your face when you get sick trying to keep up with her (she has the drinking tolerance of a bronzerider twice her size) and make sure you get back to your weyr safely even if she has to carry you there herself.

Music was her life prior to Impressing Aloyith, and it still plays an important role to her. She's a talented songwriter and performer who keeps her hand in at Western, readily performing during meals and gathers and any occasion she can. Robhin likes writing songs about her Weyrmates and their adventures and deeds of derring-do, and really enjoys embarrassing them by playing those songs in public. And when she falls in love/lust, she'll write endless songs to the object of her passions.

Positive Trait List Hard-working, passionate, self-assured, independent, outgoing
Negative Trait List Belligerent, self-centered, blunt with her words, defiant, impulsive

History:
Robhin grew up in a small seacot beholden to Tillek, the youngest of 7 kids. A hellion even as a child, she was loud and demanding and quarrelsome with her siblings and the other hold kids. Her parents decided what the best course of action would be with the girl, and she was sent to Harper Hall at 10 to get her out from underfoot, figuring the training in a proper Craft would sort her out. Robhin thrived at Harper Hall, proving to be a natural musician, even though her aggressive personality left something to be desired amongst her Masters. Still, she managed to prove herself sufficiently that she walked the tables to become a Journeyman at age 19.

She was promptly assigned to a hold on the Western Continent beholden to Rivercrest Hold, and it was thought that would be that for the wild girl. HAH. Robhin ended up involved in a torrid affair with the Lady Holder and had to flee for her life when the Lord Holder found out and attempted to murder her. She decided that the hold harper life just wasn't for her, and she made her way to Rivercrest Hold to seek her fortune.

She busked for a living in Rivercrest, playing at inns and pubs and street corners and gathers; she was fairly successful at this, developing a repertoire of songs to entertain young and old, rich and poor alike (she still performs some of these songs in her sets at Western Weyr). Then Thread returned and all bets were off. Robhin was more angry than frightened or alarmed -- this wasn't supposed to happen! Many of her contacts and sources for gigs died in that first 'Fall in a thousand years, leaving her to scavenge and scrounge as best she could. At least she and her instruments were safe.

It wasn't long afterward that a dragon from Western Weyr came through, Searching for those who had the potential to be dragonriders and learn how to fight Thread. Robhin immediately threw herself in front of the dragon and offered herself up; the dragon promptly Searched her and whisked her off to the Weyr. Determined to succeed, she studied hard, and though she didn't Impress at first go, the third time was the charm.

Other: A multi-instrumentalist and musical savant, Robhin can play gitar, pipes, pennywhistle, drum, and practically anything you shove into her hands. She also sings, for certain values of singing, with a rough, raspy yet evocative alto voice. And she writes music as well as playing the traditional tunes in her own style; her songs are usually about the heroic people of old, as well as the modern legends of Western.

DRAGON
Name: Aloyith
Age: 2
Color: White (or blue if there are too many whites!)
Size: 14' (or 24' if blue)
Physical Description: Aloyith is small for her color, snaky and slender with oversized broad wings.
Personality: Aloyith is a proud creature; she's not intimidated by her lack of physical stature amongst others of her color in the least. She knows she can more than keep up with them -- even outfly them! More than a bit vain, she's gorgeous and she knows it, and insists on daily baths and oiling of her hide to keep her that way. She is a steady, stable presence in Robhin's life, an anchor with wings; she doesn't hold truck with some of her rider's worst behaviors and is about the only living thing that can keep Robhin in line and on the right track. Her will is at least as strong as Hers'.

Aloyith is also proud to be the dragon of a Harper. She feels this gives her a special place amongst dragon-kind. She loves to listen to Robhin's music, bobbing her head and even crooning or humming along on occasion when it's a song she really enjoys. She's knowledgeable on the things that Harpers are responsible for, especially news; this dragon is a nosy little thing who's an incorrigible gossip.

Age: 27
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weaver
Physical Description: D’arlo has blue eyes; neither light or dark blue, but a shade between that he calls “gray”. This is an inaccurate description, the color is more shade of a morning without the first rays of sun. He has brown hair that often falls past his forehead and into his eyes. When it reaches his eyes, he trims it. This gives it a bit of an uneven look in front. He’s usually has it tied back. His face is bony, and the rest of him is slim. Muscles aren’t well defined on him. He has a slow, but joyful smile. He seems like the type of man who used to laugh easily. He dresses in earthy shades, hues of blues and greens when is appropriate. This guy takes special care of how he looks, making sure there’s no dust on him. He doesn’t tolerate wrinkles on his clothes.
Personality: At first glance, D’arlo might seem like a quiet person. And he is, depending on who he’s with at the time. He prefers to observe those he doesn’t know well. He feels as if he can get to know someone by observing them rather than speaking to them, because people can lie. They manipulate. D’arlo is keenly aware that he has been tricked in the past. He trusts the wrong people, and this makes friendships difficult. When he does find that friendship, he is open and trusting in it. Those walls come down.

The person he should have those walls up for, however, is the person he trusts most. His sister. She can get him to do just about anything. She is the person he depends on, and also the person he’s most loyal to. He’s oblivious to her manipulation.

Because he’s learned to be observant, while he isn’t empathic, he can read others’ expressions well. Patience also stems from this, but also from his chosen craft. His parents taught him to sew and embroider: these tasks take a lot of diligence and patience to complete them. He is motivated to learn and also to succeed. He wants to be best in every endeavor. He knows he’s a talented weaver, but dragonriding is still something he’s learning. After two years with his dragon, he still feels there’s much to learn. He didn’t get the chance to take candidate lessons, but he doesn’t feel as if he needs to compare himself to those that had.

He is especially vain about his looks. Particularly his clothes. He spends more time on his clothing than he probably should, embroidering flits on hems for gathers. He enjoys the finer things.
Positive Trait List Easy to read, motivated, loyal, confident, patient
Negative Trait List Vain, survivor’s guilt, easily fooled/manipulated, afraid to lose people, sensitive
History: Daviriarlo was born to wealthy weavers, and while his sister dreamed of becoming a dragonrider, he was content to follow in his parents’ footsteps. He followed for a time, learning everything he could. And life was good. Thread happened and took much of their livelihood—and their family too. He tried to stay in control. As the oldest, he was in charge. He wasn’t a master in his craft, but he had enough ability to make some marks with it. Thread shook him more than showed. His family had been torn apart, and there was no hope of reuniting with them. They were gone. They headed towards the Weyr, where they found that their story wasn’t unusual. He planned to earn his way to rebuilding much of what they’d lost.

Then, his sister was searched. He was invited to watch the hatching. He didn’t really expect anything to come out of it, he still believed his sister belonged back home. The home they would rebuild together. That changed during the hatching and instead of going to see his sister Impress, he ended up Impressing as well. He didn’t know anything about dragons! He told the dragon so. This was a mistake. The dragon needed someone who knew how to properly care for him!

You’ll learn to care for me. And I’ll learn to care for me! Were you surprised, my Davirsarlo? I wanted to surprise you! Surprise!

It certainly was a surprise. The boy had been encouraged to head down to the sands by the person next to him. He tried to catch his sister’s eye. He hadn’t meant for this to happen. Today was supposed to be her day! But he couldn’t reject the sweet creature, either. What was he supposed to do? The dragon, Tywinadolth, the baby reminded him, had a solution.

You could feed me, he offered. We can go see your sister after I eat! They grew, and as Tywinadolth had said, they learned to care for each other.

DRAGON
Name: Tywinadolth
Age: 2
Color: White (or bronze?)
Size: ’16 or ’43, depending on the color
Physical Description: Colorist choice, just have fun with him!
Personality: Tywiadolth is bored of this already. It would be more fun to do something new, wouldn’t it? This dragon finds the fun in everything, whether it’s duty or rest. He will encourage his rider to ease off the work if he feels D’arlo is overdoing it. Swimming will often be suggested. He embroiders like his rider, but he embroiders the truth in the stories he shares. While he would never lie to his rider as he knows how his rider feels about that, stories aren’t lies. They’re fun!

Life should be fun, and life hasn’t always been for D’arlo. He doesn’t like to see hardship, and this makes things difficult. He tries to focus on the best interest of his rider, but sometimes what D’arlo wants isn’t what Tywinadolth wants. D’arlo prefers to observe, but it’s quite the opposite with this dragon. Tywinadolth loves to socialize! The sunny days are better for talking too. He loves to find dragons at the beach.

His wingmates won’t be distracted by his chatting, however. Thread is the one thing Tywindolth takes seriously. He only calls out when needed.
Note: If you look up the words for Christmas Fairy in Welsh, you may find the inspiration for this boy’s name.

Name: Esti
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weaver

Physical Description:
Esti's dirty-brown hair has a limp wave to it that she has never bothered to correct through extra grooming. Sometimes though, it gives the impression of being greasy or "dirty," sometimes even half a day after scrubbing it. Medium blue-grey eyes are large and seem rather haunted. They are framed in brown eyelashes. The rest of her face, except for rather bony cheekbones and prominent smooth chin, is small, round, and heart-shaped. When she juts out her jaw in protest or to the side in defiance, it almost looks dislocated. She doesn't smile. She smirks. She has faint laugh lines at the corners of her mouth and eyes but it always seems like her last laugh was a long time ago and time is smoothing them away.

She is scrawny and bony but with straight, broad shoulders. Her muscles are small and wiry but well-defined. Her arms and legs are noticeably long, but not graceful, less feminine in fact. That is because she is like a spring ready to do its thing. She seems to move in bursts of speed, like a pouncing cat. She can break or dislocate a man's jaw with the power behind her punch, but she has a short window of time before she has exhausted her energy. She's rarely cold. Even in the dead of winter when everyone feels a chill, her ready energy means she's often warm to the touch.

She likes to trade her wares with the metalsmiths to get better quality tools, utensils, and jewelry. Otherwise she sells it during Weyr-hosted and nearby gathers at a stall with her brother. As a result of her trading, she is often wearing expensive jewelry: earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, sometimes rings if she is not scheduled to fly. She is a walking advertisement for the strength of weave but lush texture and color-fast bright colors that she produces. She is known to wear androgynous or ambiguous attire.

Personality:
Confident, Biased. She is most likely to reason based on her own best interests and point of view. She may even lean toward an outcome that benefits her brother most. But her decisions can be terribly short-sighted. She has had her face dragged through the mud so to speak, many times in her life, but she has become well in-tune with her strengths and limitations far better than many people ever will. It's just other people that are beyond her understanding and desire to try to understand.

Resilient, Lazy. She is quickly able to adjust to new circumstances. If a situation needs quick action, she is the person to come to. If she needs to change her schedule suddenly, her mood will not sour and she will be ready to go asap. However, she will also judge (whether right or wrong) a situation to calculate how she can put forth the least amount of effort required to get the job done. This way she can make room for more "self-important" goals, whatever they may be: weaving, eating, resting, dragon maintenance, something for her brother, etc.

Protective, Self-centered. Fiercely protective of her brother and dragon, she will do about anything for them. One could call her loyal, but she seems to think they belong to her instead.

Zany, Manipulative. Has a lot of little quirks, some of which have been mentioned, others not, that leave people intrigued or confused. She likes to get her way gently if possible, using her more feminine wiles rather than brute force. But she will use it, and without warning. She tends to be a little more generous with her brother because of her strong sisterly feelings for him (love, protectiveness).

Truthful, Harsh. She will speak the truth as she sees it without fail. She does not have time to waste keeping track of a complicated list of lies. However, she can be as blunt and gentle as a hammer, and youth isn't going to make it seem cute forever. Not to mention, she can be wrong. She only knows her own point of view, and if she is called on her overall wrongness or even her harshness, it will not phase her or encourage her to apologize.

Positive Trait List: Confident, Resilient, Protective, Zany, Truthful
Negative Trait List Biased, Lazy, Self-centered, Manipulative, Harsh
History:
Born into a family of wealthy weavers, her name was originally Esterlia. She was expected to grow up acting like a lady. She would not. They expected her to marry someone she hardly knew. She refused. They expected her to carry on the family business. Well, she did, to an extent. But by age 12 she already knew what she wanted to be. She had decided long ago that she was going to shorten her name and her hair, march right up to the Weyr and "get" a dragon. She was short and wiry and tomboyish and completely adamant about it. But even her favorite brother Davirsarlo did not agree with her choice. So it wasn't until a dragon Searched her that same year that her family was forced to take a step back and let the girl go.

Davirsarlo expected her return the next day on a dragon's back. When that day came and went, he half-expected her to want to come home with him after the next Gather. When the Gather came he was utterly surprised (maybe not so much) that she was still insistent, with one catch: she wanted her loom. She wanted all of her weaving tools, yarns, and thread shipped to the Weyr for her. She was going stir crazy in her free time! So she did continue on the weaving craft, just not with her brother.

They both "got" a dragon for their troubles, though. D'arlo Impressed at the age of 25 when he was there to watch her Impress! But she didn't. She was 23, had been a Weyrbound weaver trying not to age out and he had through dumb luck walked off the Sands with his own dragon.

Then Thread came and suddenly there was nothing left of their family. They had all been killed, leaving Esterlia and D'arlo alone at the Weyr. Encouraged to take the place of her brother as head of the family business, Esterlia nearly gave in and gave up her dream. But short-haired Esti finally Impressed, aged 24.

See, dreams do come true, Esti! You and I will fight Thread in the sky, and weave on the ground! The childish hope in this dragon's mind and heart gave her some hope as well.

Nevertheless, the siblings have struggled with what is known as survivor's guilt. Their grief was strong enough that Esti's feelings twisted back upon her. Why had the family not come to see her Impress? Why did she have to be such a failure at Impressing? She spent half her life waiting on those Sands, getting to know the parent dragons and helping the newly-bonded pairs before crying herself to sleep that night. Why did they have to die? She did not blame anyone but herself. Even when Xath asked her if she really believed she should have bonded an older dragon.

I could not come any sooner than I did. Did I do something wrong? Did I cause--

"Xath! No! No... I just can't explain my feelings correctly with words."

I know those feelings all too well. You are connected with me to the point where I feel your pain. If you do not blame me then you should not blame yourself. Just grieve.

Esti shared her feelings with her brother more and more. It helped her to move forward. But she did not heal completely. As she began to rely more on her brother, she lost her faith that others might not die. Even each sibling is terrified that the other will die. They even developed a little ritual of meeting after threadfall for a meal. Just to check on each other. Even though dragons would tell them if anything had happened. They also meet every sevenday for klah to chat. Gossip, complaints, everything.

User ImageDRAGON

Name: Xath
Age: 1-2 (age is flexible)
Color: Brown
Size: 37 brown.

Physical Description: He is of average size for dragons of his color, including an average wingspan. Above average dexterity: he can practically turn on a dime (relative to his size), can jump, and climb. Color is pale, a strange kind of color that sucks the eye in. Don't fall in, now.

Personality: Almost as rambunctious as Esti, Xath may never grow up, even in his later years when the arthritis catches up with him. He loves to play, crack jokes, and roll onto his back or side just when she has finished rubbing or oiling there.

He loves to share his empathy with her, to show her the points of view of others, and how her actions can affect them deeply. Sometimes he may seem melodramatic, but his emotional displays are mostly to show her that new point of view. Over time, he hopes to help her become a more sensitive and conscientious woman.

Art by Yoccu
Name: Eo'ryn [Erenyo]
Age: 25 turns
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Healer
Physical Description: Eo'ryn has a medium skin tone, not quite dark, but certainly not light either. She wears her straight hair cropped, a short mess of black. Her clothing choice tends to be simple and utilitarian, generally in earthy colors if that's what she can get her hands on. By her side, on a belt, she wears a (rather dull and nicked) knife. Despite its leather sheath, she does little to hide it. Her off-hand, the left, has a thick scar along the palm, resulting in reduced mobility. She is naturally stealthy, able to sneak around without being noticed, and she is adequate at fighting. After all, such a thing might someday be necessary, and if it is, she wants to have that skill.

In build, Eo'ryn is a relatively curvy woman, with a short waist, wide hips, and broad shoulders. Her natural body structure is emphasized with no small amount of softness, but not in the absence of powerful, lean muscle. Eo'ryn stands around 5'5", perhaps a bit taller, but she is certainly not a towering woman. She has feminine, dainty facial features--soft, even muted, and small, perhaps pretty, but not quite beautiful. Eo'ryn has thin, delicately arched eyebrows; a small, slender nose; and pale lips, hardly full. Her eyes are a deep, warm brown, with flecks of amber.
Personality: Eo'ryn is largely extroverted, and enjoys being with people. She's not especially kindly, though, as she prefers messing with people. Her sense of humor tends to put people off. Despite usually having a joke or two to crack, Eo'ryn has a very serious side, one that is cold, calculating, and harsh, that comes out in extreme stress. Sometimes her anger is fury, such as when a friend is in danger, but when it comes to other situations, she is cold and strong. In truth, she takes things more seriously than she acts, which isn't saying much, because she acts casual and laid-back, if not a bit rude. Certainly, Eo'ryn is protective and loyal, almost to an extreme. She is determined to do whatever she sets her mind to, and rarely abandons anything or anyone. Rigid and stubborn, she pursues even when it seems pointless to do so, and will never give up, partially out of pride, but partially out of dedication. In many ways, she can be a strong leader, and enjoys having some measure of control. Some see her as controlling and bossy--but people need a strong, decisive leader, she thinks! One thing is for certain: Eo'ryn will protect others with her life, whether they want that protection or not (not that she's willing to admit that she's in it for anyone other than herself and Taeslith).

She is definitely willing to use force, extortion, coercion, blackmail, bribery...and a whole range of other sketchy things, just to accomplish her goals...so long as she doesn't hurt someone she actually cares about. According to Eo'ryn, the ends don't JUST justify the means--the means are entirely irrelevant and often necessary if one hopes to see true change. As long as everyone is alive and free to pursue the life they want, what does anything else matter? In the end, she tries to do her best in almost every aspect of life, though she may act as if she isn't motivated to do so, by the casual and laid-back attitude she usually portrays. She is not an egalitarian, despite her belief that she stands for freedom and equality; she feels as though those in power--the weyrleaders, the lord holders, and definitely most metallics--always abuse it, and those who lack power--the poor, disenfranchised, and holdless--should overthrow them. Certainly, she is an advocate for the weak, and a voice for the disenfranchised. Rebellious and fiery, Eo'ryn doesn't like to be told what to do. If you earn her respect, however, she is fiercely loyal, hardworking, and a valuable ally.

Despite often acting calm, Eo'ryn is prone to getting carried away--and often takes things too far. Eo'ryn can be rather competitive, when it comes to it, and generally enjoys being the best at things. She views a lot of things as a competition of sorts, just with different stakes. Headstrong, Eo'ryn will butt heads with anyone who disagrees with her, because obviously, she's right about the thing. She can certainly be opinionated, and even gets defensive. It will take a lot of convincing for her to realize she's wrong, and she may not realize it anyways. Even if she does, that doesn't mean she'll ever admit to it, of course. While she has a tendency towards showing off, with big, obvious acts of courage, she can be quite cautious, particularly in certain situations. She doubts the intentions of others, and is even paranoid at times--courageous, maybe, but certain that others are plotting against her. It is hard for her to get comfortable around others. She is afraid of getting close to them, and as a result, she pushes them away. In truth, she is afraid to feel vulnerable, to place trust in anyone other than herself or her dragon.

Eo'ryn is constantly teasing others, usually in a sarcastic, somewhat mocking manner. She's the type to make fun of your flaws, and to assume that it won't hurt you. If she actually likes you, she'll be a bit less ruthless about it. Around those that she cares for, few as they may be, she will act surprisingly playful and teasing. Rather than simple teasing, she may act a little more goofy, possibly even playing pranks. She can be a bit mischievous, preferring chaotic environments and excitement. Fiercely protective and always willing and ready to throw down, Eo'ryn gets in a lot of fights and scuffles for others' sakes. Mess with someone she cares about? She'll kick your a**, she'll kick your dragon's a**, she'll kick her own a**. No a** goes unkicked. Overall, she can be a real jerk, but her intentions are often noble, to some degree, if not misguided. That said, she is often contrary for the sake of being annoying, and likes to push others' buttons. She can be petty and vengeful. With her dragon, she enjoys gossiping about others and making fun of them.
Positive Trait List Determined, leadership qualities, friendly, playful/sense of humor, passionate, decisive
Negative Trait List Rebellious, competitive, kind of a jerk, harsh, teasing, overly opinionated and headstrong
History: Erenyo was born to a poor couple in Fort Hold. Her parents were older, and her father needed assistance walking. Erenyo often helped out from a young age. Her mother succumbed to an illness, due to poor conditions making recovery harder, when Erenyo was 12. Her father gave up on life without his beloved wife, and passed shortly after. Despite this, Erenyo loved her parents, and missed them dearly when they passed. She was sent to a nearby cothold, and although the family who tried to raise her was kind, Erenyo was not their child. It felt brutally evident--they'd always forget to bring her treats from gathers and markets, and she never received the love their birth children did. When she was 14, she ran away.

After this, Erenyo loved among a holdless group for several years, migrating with them, often living in abandoned cotholds or small cave systems. She eventually became a leader to some of them, at the age of 17, a small group of younger, mismatched ruffians, and those she led broke off from the main group. She did her best for those she considered to be her 'people,' caring for them and providing for them--and learning to defend them, when needed. She had two close friends, and together they frequented the area in and around a minor hold. There was some "prejudice" (justified mistrust) towards them, as they were a group of vagrants. Although free from petty politics, squabbling, and wars, Erenyo hoped to take over or find something for her people to live in. She kept tabs on politics and current events, of course.

No one expected thread to come back, and when it did, thankfully, the group was not far from High Reaches Weyr. That said, one of Erenyo's two dearest friends, Kalieri, was killed in threadfall, along with two others. Her other dear "friend," Possindai, turned the remaining six against Erenyo after this, blaming her for the losses their group had incurred. At the age of 20, a mere turn after their group had formed, Possindai and Erenyo began to create friction, resulting in a fistfight. Possindai pulled out a knife, and Erenyo's hand was injured in the process. Leaving the group with a wounded ego, but with nothing left for her in a group that had suddenly hated her, Erenyo headed to the nearby Western Weyr.

She became a candidate, eager to fight thread, which had destroyed the life she'd built for herself. Western Weyr, unlike High Reaches, was more flexible, less rigid, and not ruled by metallics. Erenyo was certain she wouldn't Impress a metallic dragon, and at 22, she was proven correct, when Taeslith hatched. The most beautiful green she had ever seen, but for some reason, Taeslith looked timid and nervous, and immediately fell on her face. Erenyo. E'nyo? Eo'ryn? Whoever you want to be? Please help your Taeslith up. Everyone is looking at me. I don't really like that.

Eo'ryn was happy to live as a rider, fighting thread and protecting her weyr.
Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: Taeslith
Age: 3 turns
Color: Green
Size: 24.5 ft
Physical Description: Taeslith is on the larger side for a green, but not by much. Despite her sleek, lithe look, she is solidly muscled and sturdy. Her build, although deceptively powerful, appears elegant and regal, and she is a fine-looking dragon. With gently-tapered headknobs, subtle eye-ridges, and a graceful shape to her head, all of her facial features add to the beauty she possesses. A beautiful but not-so-delicate flower, Taeslith has large wings, wide and long, and strong, muscular legs. Taeslith is the perfect picture of beauty and grace...until she starts walking or flying. She is extremely clumsy, something she outgrew to an extent as she aged, but it still remains, to some degree. She's not entirely aware of her body at all times, but she can (usually) manage on the ground. In the air, however, she has poor maneuverability and difficulty controlling her wings. They just do things, sometimes...
Personality: wallflower, awkward, fierce/strong (at times), assertive, determined, courageous, quiet, loving, silly, friendship-driven

Taeslith has only grown stronger as the turns have passed, but she remains quiet and prefers to stay out of the spotlight. She'd rather blend in than stand out, thank you very much. Good or bad, she usually hates attention. The only exception to this, of course, is that she loves when those she cares about notice her and give her affection. Still, Taeslith remains a wallflower, and though there are times when she wishes she could feel comfortable standing out, she is content to be ignored by most. Sure, she wishes more people were her friends--she's driven very strongly by a desire for friendship, after all!--but she's not about to do anything to get friends.

Her rider sees a side of her that few see. With her rider--and perhaps a few others--Taeslith can be herself. Her humor takes on a decisively more sarcastic bent, and she likes to gossip and talk badly about those she doesn't like. Only with her rider, though, and maybe a select few. In her complaints, Taeslith can be surprisingly petty. Other than her rider, most may not know about her grudges or any she dislikes, but rest assured, she will hold a grudge forever, and really, most of the time, it's the principle of the matter, you know!

Although she's a bit awkward, and sure, she can be shy, Taeslith is very driven to seek social companionship. She's just...a little bad at it! It's fine, though, because she has Eo'ryn to support her, and the two get along quite well, often snarking privately and joking together, allowing each other to be their goofiest self. Certainly silly, Taeslith is a fan of bad jokes and puns. She also tends to have a somewhat goofy, silly sense of humor, causing her rider to affectionately call her a dork. She tends to ramble more than a bit, and sometimes worries about what she's saying. Sometimes she puts her foot in her mouth, then she panics and shoves it further in.

Taeslith can be a bit intimidated by others, and certainly by life, but she shows courage and determination in the face of things that make her nervous. She stands up for herself and says what she needs, even if she really has to stretch and push herself to do so. When it comes to protecting her rider or her loved ones, she can be fierce and strong. She'll tell people what they need to hear, too, and isn't afraid to call someone on their wherry midden. That said, there is a lot of love in this green's heart, and she can be exceptionally nurturing. It's a shame she wasn't born with a lighter shade and a metallic hue! She'd make a lovely mother, but will have to satisfy herself with "adopting" weyrlings to "mentor." Whether they want it or not. (But probably not if they don't want it, actually, because she doesn't want to impose on someone else.)

Name: D'vian (previously Androvarian)
Age: 30 turns
Sex:  male
Sexual Orientation: it's a mystery
Weyr: Western
Rider Rank:  wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: unknown...

Physical Description:
Athletic, with broad shoulders and chest tapering to strong trim legs. He is more a runner/swimmer
than weightlifter / blacksmith. Standing a respectable 6'2”. His features are pleasant and regular, though nothing spectacular. He has slightly shaggy black hair that brushes the top of his shoulders and a bit of facial scruff... not enough to call a beard or mustache though, which he keeps trimmed and well-groomed. His eyes are a medium gray, with long thick black lashes that are enough to cause many females envy. He dresses neat and clean, but not anything to make him stand out. Clean and comfortable for work is the name of the game... though he isn't above wearing something nice for gathers, feasts, and other occasions.

Personality:
D'vian can't seem to sit still. He must always have a task to occupy his hands and mind. Always needs a goal to work towards, a way to help the weyr that took him in and gave him his soulmate, to help said soulmate, or to help others... not generally or necessarily in that order. Even if the goal or task is just something as small as fixing his gear or leathers so they are and appear perfect, or oiling Rapifirth's hide so she gleams. He works hard and does his part for the weyr and to maintain this standard of life he has grown fond of.

When he isn't working. In the silence and stillness, he finds himself insecure. Full of doubts. Is he good enough to be a rider? Does he even belong here? He tries to cover up the doubts in trying to please others, even if he is always second-guessing everything and filled with the agony of indecision about everything...

In spite of his hardworking nature, or perhaps in part because of it, D'vian is quite...oblivious... and has the tendency to be blind to emotions and social cues. He is quite literal and takes things at face value, until he is beat over the head with subtleties and complexities... sometimes this even is an actual physical event, where he has the information beaten into his skull. This nature makes him gullible and easily taken advantage of or manipulated... if not for his green. She makes sure no such thing happens, unless it is for the good of Hers or if it is of benefit to herself.

He often speaks without thinking and rarely takes the time or effort to censor what he thinks. Combined with his obliviousness, this leads others to think he is is flippant or uncaring, when truly that is usually the last thing he means. He simply says whatever he thinks or feels without thinking about how it might seem to others...

But then, life isn't easy, a fact he knows all too well. The only way to not only survive, but also to thrive, is to be willing and able to adapt. That was a hard lesson for him to learn, but one he learned and learned well... And that is how he ended up where he is. From being an orphan in a small hold ravaged by Thread, to dragonrider. Over the Turns his life has taken many strange and unexpected twists, but he has adapted to each and every one. They have all made him stronger and the person he is now. He has not only survived but thrived.

Positive Trait List Hardworking, Adaptable, Dedicated
Negative Trait List Oblivious, Flippant, Insecure

History:
Born to a poor family in a very small, poor holding, he lost his parents at a very young age to sickness... sickness that shouldn't have been fatal, but for the fact they had no money for treatment nor the means to get to a healer anywhere. His story was hardly uncommon in their hold. The lord holder did his best to take care of those under his purview, but there was only so much he could do. But he had succeeded in setting up a shelter for orphans to live in, and a cook who would take any leftovers that any could spare and turn it into one meal a day for these children. Enough to give them strength to go out and try to find work. Some way to make themselves useful and earn any other food or hand-outs.

As soon as he was big enough and strong enough to do simple labor in the mines, it was to the mines he went. It was how he earned his food and clothes. It was a hard life. But he was able to get by. But while he was deep within the earth, he longed to be free underneath the sky. Though had he his wish, he would not have survived when Thread returned. It was because he was deep within the mines that he wasn't killed with so many who were outside and unprepared when the Thread fell from the sky and all but demolished the entire Holding.

When he was 16, a roaming searchrider had flown over the Hold and landed. Amongst the survivors, the rider found four youngsters to bring back with him the Western Weyr. Androvarian was one. He became a candidate and Stood at several Hatchings over the next two Turns when finally She Hatched and Claimed him. His lovely Green. Rapifirth.
Other:

DRAGON
Name: Rapifirth
Age:  12 turns
Color:  Green
Size: 22'

Physical Description: Though she is on the small side for one of her color, fine boned and elegant, almost dainty even... none of these words are used to describe Rapifirth. This fierce little beauty is too fierce and sharp for the labels to stick- From her teeth and claws, to the spikes on her back and the shape of her wing sails, to her tongue and the harshness she treats all except Hers to... She is remarkably agile in flight, and with good speed, but she has rather low stamina.

Personality:

Rapifirth was bred and born to fight Thread. To be a hero and to protect all of Pern. Or so she often claims. And not without valid reason. She is a green who can twist and turn to avoid being singed by Thread, but is fast enough and with enough maneuverabilty to catch and burn those patches of Thread that others might miss. And she won't stop until her stamina runs out, her hearts burst, or there is no more Thread... unless Hers is able to talk her down, but like her, he is determined to do all he can.

This small green is quite fetching and she knows it. And she quite expects others to acknowledge this fact, verbally and often, even if their opinions don't really mean that much to her. The only opinion that truly matters to her is her beloved rider's and thankfully, he is all too happy to offer her all the praise, compliments and adoration she could want.

When not in the air doing drills, practicing maneuvers or fighting Thread, she expects to be kept well-oiled and immaculate, a chore that is anything but to D'vian, so long as there is no other pressing work that he might be required to handle.

While not exactly the most sociable of dragons, she can be friendly enough... but then she can go from being friendly to ready to tear your face off within the space of a breath. She is quick-tempered and volatile. It is difficult to know just what will set her off... though two subjects that are almost guaranteed to do so, faster than just about anything, are the attitude that whites and chromatics are nothing more than thread fodder, or any disparaging remarks, or anything that might even be in any way interpreted as such, about Hers.

Positive Trait List Tenacious, Fierce, Protective
Negative Trait List Vain, Volatile, Sharp

Name: Elio
Age: 30
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Demisexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Beastcrafter/Shepherd

Physical Description: Elio’s not the tallest out there, but still respectable at 5’11” with lightened-to-blond hair (natural brown), light skin and umber eyes. He has a strong jaw, a searching gaze, and an unfortunate slant to his brows that contribute to an intimidating resting expression that can be easily construed as judgmental or even a bit hostile. He usually smiles with his eyes, maybe a slight tug of the mouth, but on the rare occasions when his guard is down, he might feel free enough to let out a full smile that completely changes his face by inducing literal (okay fine, metaphorical) rays of sunshine.

Personality: Elio is a bit disorganized on personal time. He eats like a runnerbeast without much concern for what’s on his plate and can’t keep his weyr clean to save his life. Instead of worrying about what company might think of his living space, he loves to go on walks or read romance and mystery novels. In fact, he’d rather do that than step out of his comfort zone at all.

His comfort zone is in his duty to the Weyr, where he can competently carry out the tasks given and rarely, if ever, have to think twice or get entangled in social nuisances. Acquaintances will quickly find that he’s not very friendly, doesn’t smile often, and rejects the majority of invitations for social activities. While his reputation as a snob is fairly well-established, the truth is that, though very calm and controlled even when under stress, he is painfully introverted and prefers small gatherings between two or three close friends rather than a big party full of people. These few close friends are highly treasured and get to see a warmer, more confident and (in most cases) unexpectedly masculine side of him.

This brownrider has trouble asking for help, partially out of pride and partially out of not wanting to be a burden. There is a point of frustration where he’ll be grateful for assistance, but he’ll accept it reluctantly and often botches his attempt at thanks from embarrassment or haste to get away from an uncomfortable situation.

Positive Trait List Warm, calm, dutiful, independent
Negative Trait List Timid, self-conscious, messy, overly self-reliant

History: Originally from a smaller hold in Western Weyr’s territory, Elio comes from a family that consists of his mother, father, and two elder brothers. As a child, he was naturally a bit quieter and more self-sufficient than his older brothers had been, which his parents appreciated, though it often meant he was sort of overlooked and left to his own devices. He subsequently learned to “suffer in silence” when things went wrong.

He was always a pretty child growing up, but as he neared his teens, other children in their small community seemed to act differently around him. His female friends, especially, would withdraw when he came into a room, whispering among themselves as they stole glances at him. He would wonder what he’d done wrong, and became afraid to go near them and equally afraid to go to his parents for help. He stopped smiling as often, stopped going to all the old hangouts over time, and all but withdrew into his chosen craft. When his family moved to Western Hold in his early teens, he remained somewhat reserved with his new peers, expecting the same sort of treatment. It resulted in a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy; because of his aloofness and naturally truculent resting expression, he was labeled as something of a snob. So he spent most of his time with Western's herds, working in the quiet, safe outdoors. And he was lonely.

Being Searched to Western Weyr gave him hope for another fresh start, and maybe get it right this time. He was not disappointed. He Impressed to brown Anegath the first time he stood, and found himself instantly “adopted” into a family of sorts. He and his dragon grew close to a handful of their clutch siblings and remain so to this day. However, Elio still has the same difficulty as he ever did in connecting with anyone outside that small circle.

Other:

DRAGON
Name: Anegath
Age: 13
Color: Brown
Size: 40’
Physical Description: A large brown with an athletic build, Anegath is a skilled threadfighter with a mostly-unmarked hide to prove it. His wingspan is fairly short, allowing him to maneuver more easily. He’s otherwise a bit slower in the air, but his stamina more than makes up for it, letting him finish out a fall almost as fresh as he was at the start.
Personality: Anegath is a confident, masculine dragon without being cocky about it. Perhaps that was why he was hatched brown instead of bronze. He dislikes brash or boastful dragons in general, but especially if they’re a metallic-biased bronze. He’s heard the stories about other, more traditional Weyrs, and is glad that certain colors don’t get a free pass to bully and control everyone else at Western. This brown is macho in his own way, a doer and not sayer, a leader by example, and will never hesitate to help someone in need, especially if he can do something to equip them to handle their own situation next time.

He’s pretty tough, but has a clear streak of gentleness when it concerns ladies, hatchlings, or his rider. The former two require respect and a generous show of affection, and the latter a tender paw. Unlike some dragons, Anegath never tries to force his rider into uncomfortable situations in an attempt to help him grow as a person. While it works well for some pairs, it fails terribly with his own rider. Instead, Anegath focuses on supporting Elio when he chooses to step outside of his comfort zone of his own accord.

Name: T’tain
Age: 38
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Open
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Assistant Weyrlingmaster
Previous Rank/Craft: Wingrider
Physical Description: T'tain is muscled in a subtle way that can be completely hidden under clothing. Tallish (maybe 5'8 at a stretch) and slim, he isn't the most imposing visage with kind green eyes and blonde hair starting to go silver already.
Personality: T’tain is a man that can see both sides of an argument. He can understand why something is done one way or another as well as why it might be better to do it another way in someone else’s opinion. A shrewd man, T’tain doesn’t take things at face value. He knows his own mind and his own opinions, but is always willing to hear someone out. That isn’t to say that he will be swayed easily. His will is strong and it will take more than him understanding the person’s position to agree with it. T’tain especially believes in equality and nurturing, and while he can see why others might not, he will always follow that path.

He can be a bit sly though, quietly putting things, ideas, or suggestions, into place to change the outcome to his suiting. He has a penitence for meddling and trying to shape the way events turn out. It isn’t an outward order or suggestion every time, though sometimes it is. He knows that his meddling will not always be well received and can hide it behind kind words and thought provoking ideas.

Found of the finer things in life, T’tain’s world is full of decedent aspects that weave themselves into his everyday existence. His clothing is well cut, soft, and richly colored. His weyr is well adorned and there are times when he will indulge in something just to indulge. The rest of the time, he is hard working and determined to see a task to the end. A task half done is not allowed. If one is going to do something, one must follow it the entire way through.
Positive Trait List Hardworking, Shrewd, strong-willed
Negative Trait List Decadent, Meddlesome, Sly
History: T’tain is Western born and raised. It wasn’t to rider parents he was born, but to a kitchen worker and his beloved. He spent a lot of time in the creche as both parents helped out in the Weyr daily. T’tain admired dragons from the start and took began standing as soon as he was allowed. He stood for over 10 years determined to try every time and be there when his dragon hatched. Finally Thespeth arrived in a show of wings and tail to land on T’tain’s chest. The match was as perfect to T’tain as everything he had ever heard.

Weyrling training was easy in many ways. Concepts came quickly to T’tain and he excelled at memorizing wing patterns and other little details. The physical aspects were a bit more challenging as T’tain wasn’t the beefiest of men and had to build muscle quickly to keep up. The most difficult part, that should have been easy according to people he talked to, was getting used to sharing his entire life with another being. It was perfect and wonderful…and also daunting and annoying. Thespeth was patient though and understood that T’tain was not rejecting or annoyed with Thespeth as much as with the lack of privacy and overwhelming responsibility.

As a rider, T’tain and Thespeth never thought to go anywhere but Western. It shared his ideals, he loved the weather, he loved the people, it was home. No other Weyr could compare and T’tain couldn’t imaging him and Thespeth weyrless.

T’tain worked hard, played hard, and became something of a counsellor to many of his fellow riders. He would also often talk with Weyrlings and candidates that wanted to know more about being a rider and the struggles, joys, and adventures that could be had. T’tain hadn’t known growing up how much he would enjoy helping to mould young minds. It called to his meddlesome tendencies.

When Thread fell and the world changed, T’tain and Thespeth changed with it. They worked harder, faster, more determined to be the best rider pair they could, and more determined to be the best mentors possible. T’tain knew that day that things would never go back to the more carefree ways but that didn’t mean they had to go back to being the oppressive ways either. T’tain wants to keep Western’s culture even as they fight to save Pern and themselves.

As the number of dragons being clutched increased there was an increasing need for there to be more Weyrlingmaster assistants. When asked by the Council, he readily accepted the position.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: Thespeth
Age: 13
Color: Brown
Size: 40
Physical Description: This brown is trim and sleek. He tends a little more towards speed than strength and that is evident in his build. There are some ragged edges to his wing sails from thread fighting.
Personality: Probably the first things anyone ever notices about Thespeth is that he is a flamboyant dragon. Actions and words are flowery and over the top. He enjoys making a show. Really, Thespeth is a caring dragon that wants to hear your problems and give a shoulder to cry on. He struggles sometimes because he has a morbid sense of humor that is an acquired taste. But he is patient and willing to wait for all manner of things be it someone’s fears, waiting for the sputtering to stop, or dinner. Don’t try to win his heart, though. He is fickle in affections and will most likely never settle down.
