Name: Tamami
Age: 49
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: N/A
Physical Description: Tamami is fairly average in height for a woman, standing around 5'5 and is of sturdy build. Her body bears the wear and tear of the life of a dragon rider, skin tanned and weathered over the years of the biting cold of Between, scars from training and, more recently, Thread. Crows feet rest on either side of her amber eyes and freckles are dusted over her nose and cheekbones. Years ago she might have been called 'pretty' if she had ever smiled, but the lines around her mouth indicate nothing but scowls or grimaces. Her features are sharp and solid, almost three decades of riding keeping her fit and firm despite her progressing age. She wears her chestnut brown (streaked with pale grey, but don't remind her!) hair in a tight braid that is usually pinned up to her head to stay out of the way, but with her hair down it reaches about mid-back. She only ever takes it down to wash it, though, so most are used to seeing her with a much shorter style. Her attire is practical and well-worn, comfortable yet functional. Pale, curling scars over the backs of her hands from Thread are easily noticeable against her tanned, leathery skin, and if you are able to get close enough to her you can see three faint slash marks on the side of her neck, long faded with time.
Personality: Tamami is one who likes to push her own limits to see what she can do. Never afraid to step outside her comfort zone, Tamami embraces fear head-on with a fierce grin. Whether it ends in failure or success, she's always pleased with the results. Failure, after all, is the first step to success. It's a way to learn and to better yourself and although it can be frustrating, she knows there is some benefit to it. Her self-confidence is through the roof and there is no one on Pern she trusts more than herself to see something done properly. She'd rather work on her own than with a team, enjoying the challenge using her own mind and might to solve problems rather than a handful of other people. She does pull together with her wing to fight Thread, but that's about the only time you'll see her willingly doing things with others and listening to someone giving orders. Despite her sense of independence and skepticism of others leadership skills, she knows that Threadfall isn't the time to try to prove she can do things on her own.

Tamami's world revolves around herself and Wuth, her dragon. She doesn't care much about the success of others, nor does she ever offer to help someone who might be struggling. As a result she doesn't have many friends, but it doesn't bother her at all. She is completely devoted to bettering herself, her dragon, and Pern, in that order. Occasionally something will catch her interest and her attention and at that point she'll relax a bit, but for the most part trying to get Tamami to open up is like trying to dig a tunnel through solid rock with a wooden spoon. In the same vein, Tamami is not someone you'd want to go to for comfort or advice. She is extremely blunt, often to the point of being a bit cruel, and will tell you exactly what you don't want to hear. She doesn't care for the little fuzzy creature that was accidentally squashed by a cart, nor does her heart bleed for those whose dreams were crushed as they aged out of Candidacy. In short, don't go to her looking for a hug or kind words. You'll get boxed ears and a sharp rebuttal.
Positive Trait List Independent, confident, brave
Negative Trait List Self-centered, doesn't trust others, callous
History: Tamami was born to a leathercrafter and a dragon rider, although she never knew her father personally. Her mother, a hard-working and talented leathercrafter, had found herself in the bed of a bronzerider one goldflight and the rest was history. Her mother had told Tamami how brave and wonderful her father was, but the little girl had always found her mother far more admirable and hard-working than the flirtatious, lazy man she believed her father to be based off of rumors and whispers of the Weyrfolk. The few times she had the chance to interact with him she refused, preferring to cling to her mother's skirts and watch as she worked the leather the riders used to make their harnesses for their dragons.

Growing up in the Weyr meant Tamami would be able to Stand and be a Candidate once she was old enough and for the young, ambitious girl, having a dragon as a partner was all she ever wanted. When she played with the other children she always insisted they pretend to be dragons and riders, but for some the game got old and they'd leave her to pretend to fly on her own. As she grew older, Tamami became engrossed in the histories of Pern, particularly the tales of Thread and how dragonriders were once the protectors of Pern, fighting the silver death over and over, risking their lives to save those who couldn't help but be in the path of destruction. In her lifetime Thread was but a distant whisper, a story, and dragonriders - while they still trained to fight - were more there for show in her eyes. She wanted to face the storms of Thread head on, of danger, to prove to herself that she could be like the dragonriders of old. Her near obsession with the heroic histories of Pern caused her to become more and more withdrawn from her peers, only interacting with them when she had to. Her free time was spent reading and daydreaming about the day she'd join the ranks of the dragonriders to carve her own story.

Tamami joined the Candidates as soon as she could and Stood for years, each hatching bringing frustration and adding more fuel to the fire that burned within her to prove she could do it, to show the Weyr that she was as great as she knew she was. It wasn't until she was twenty two that her time came, and what a hatching it was. The clutch was rather small - the brown father was blamed as the queen had quite a large clutch before with a bronze for a sire - and yielded no queens, but Tamami didn't care. She didn't want a gold, anyway, for golds couldn't flame. What kind of dragonrider would she be if she couldn't fly through the sky, blinking Between and belching fire upon re-entry? The dragons of the clutch were mostly chromatics with one bronze, but the 'star' of the show was a blue who had burst from his shell so violently that eggshell and goop had splattered everywhere. He hadn't been remarkable in terms of markings, but the red-eyed, lumbering creature had descended into the Candidates like a demon, tearing and shredding without a care in the world for no particular reason. He had left dozens bleeding and one dead in his wake before tackling Tamami to the ground, claws digging into her throat, ready for another kill. The woman fell under the weight of the baby dragon but had stared him down the whole way, not once flinching or crying out in pain as sharp, long claws pressed against her neck, and once the blue caught her gaze his frenzied spree ended.

TamamiMine the cool, sharp voice hissed in her mind even as the baby dragon opened his snaggle-toothed maw as if to swallow her whole. Look, look what I've done for you. Your Wuth has fought hard to find you, and here you are! The pressure on her neck lessened as Wuth pulled off of Tamami, his red eyes whirling rainbow before settling on a deep purple, nearly red in hue. In the blink of an eye she had gone from death's doorstep to a dragonrider and finally, finally she had her equal. Someone who would be just as intent on being the best they could be, not concerned with others who could prove to be a distraction.

It was her and Wuth and that would be all.

Years passed and the pair did indeed withdraw further into themselves, and Tamami loved every moment of it. She was completely devoted to her dragon and he to her and there was nothing else in the world she could possibly want. Or, at least, that was what she thought until one particular goldflight. Dragons from all over had come to the call of the queen and even Wuth rose to give chase as best he could. Tamami found herself in the arms of a man who was passing by, a dragonrider from Western he had said at some point. She didn't get his name nor even the color of his dragon before he was gone, leaving her with nothing but a night of pleasure.

Or so she thought.

Nine months later, Tamami found herself with a small, awkward predicament in her arms. A baby. She and Wuth had both been far out of their league during her pregnancy and now there was a small human that was interrupting their blissful bond. Tamami had no maternal instincts but she couldn't simply toss the child to the orphanage, not when she knew she had the potential to be as great as she herself was. The world needed more strong dragonriders. She and Wuth tried their best to raise the little girl whom they both agreed to name Shar, but the girl took after her mother and at a young age began to take matters into her own hands when it came to problem solving and learning. Tamami could see herself in her daughter in that respect and let her do her own thing, only steering her in what she believed to be the right direction if Shar came to her with questions. Then she was off, out of the weyr and into the Candidate barracks. Despite having raised her at an arms length, Tamami and Wuth couldn't have been more proud of Shar. They knew she'd find a strong partner and left her to her own devices, focusing once again on themselves.

It wasn't long after that when Thread returned. Wuth and Tamami were there to fight instantly, both of whom took damage from the Thread and had to land earlier than they would have liked to tend to their wounds. The thrill of fighting Thread raced through both of them, though, and despite the painful injuries and scars left behind, the pair is always eager to rise and fight together as a seamless being, working together with one mind to do as much as they possibly can when the silver danger falls.
Other: She is Shar's mother. Warriors - Imagine Dragons is her theme song

DRAGON
Name: Wuth
Age: 27
Color: Blue
Size: 30.5
Physical Description: Wuth is a powerfully built blue, all muscle and no fat. He is extremely angular, no soft curves to him, and has surprisingly long claws. His teeth are not the prettiest a dragon could have, staggered and poking out of his mouth even when it's closed. His head knobs are rather stunted and his hind legs are a bit longer than average, giving him a sloping downward appearance when walking
Personality: Wuth is intense. There is no slow setting for this dragon - he's either sleeping or going one hundred and ten percent in whatever he's doing. He has incredible laser focus when given a task and he always carries it out to completion unless Tamami is able to convince him to leave it alone. Wuth's stamina is incredible for a blue and he always pushes himself to the absolute limit, often not thinking about his own safety or that of his rider. Reckless but extremely shrewd, Wuth is of the mindset of 'high risk, high reward'. He'll use his mind and his might to get whatever needs doing done even if it's not the 'best' way. To him, it's his way or the highway and he would much prefer to go through a problem than circle around it. The only other living thing on Pern that he'll listen to other than Tamami is a gold, but she would need to order him to do something, not just ask nicely.
Dragon Art or Proof of Obtainment: Uncert

She looks great but there is one thing that I think needs a little re-examining. The only concern I have is the bit about how, due to Wuth attacking/mauling/maiming some Candidates, she was hated by her peers and that's why she withdrew.

That actually wouldn't happen in High Reaches Weyr.

Dragons mauling, maiming, and killing isn't actually an issue at the Weyr and as a weyrbred girl she would know this. The Candidates would know this. While there might be some individuals with personal grudges, that is actually not the norm, and certainly not the majority. All the Candidates signed up knowing maiming and death could and would happen--and fierce babies aren't unusual before Impression. Additionally, even if there were Candidates upset, she wouldn't have been a Candidate anymore anyway, but a weyrling, and no Weyrlingmaster would let them be treated differently nor would Wuth's history even be brought up.

Since I know you want her to withdraw, it's possible that ostracism might have happened if the pair had hatched in an nontraditional setting-- so like maybe a place where there was no weyrling training available, or the training they got was meager and nobody knew what they were doing like at a shoddy fallen-to-pieces weyrhold, etc. But at a Weyr, especially High Reaches? Even in Western, Suwayeth wasn't treated differently. In the books, babies maul and maim but nobody bats an eye afterwards and the Candidates who Impress to them aren't treated like they're a pariah.

Is there another way to make them withdraw? It's possible being a female on a blue caused them to be a bit more ostracized as High Reaches seems to prefer its women on golds and greens. Or maybe she just found herself simply preferring Wuth's company to her fellow weyrlings? Or since he is so intense he does require and demand so much of her time that it's just easier to keep others at arm's length and he now both expects it and it's kind of a habit? It's also possible she felt like she was outcast from her point of view, either due to guilt, and on top of being a woman on a blue, from a brown dragon clutch, and Wuth being so intense, she did draw back a bit? A little from all the above?

Cheri and I just aren't comfortable with dragonets that murder or maim or cause a lot of bloodshed to be treated differently or have it hang over them because that just isn't canon or how it works in EoP. At least not to that level--making some individuals who hold grudges is one thing and it's definitely okay to put that some might have mistrusted her (i.e. K'ell disliking the bronze that killed Shinnikan), but to have them all turn on her? That's a bit too much, sorry!
