Personality
Bunsen has a mind that moves quickly from one thought to another. He remembers what he sees and eagerly pursues more sights and knowledge to add into the mix. He uses his powers frequently and has a fascination with watching things burn that has developed itself into a sort of scientific interest in observing reactions. Different materials burn in different ways, every action has its own reaction, and it's all so terribly interesting.
Unfortunately, there's so much going on in his head that it's hard to keep track of everything. He gets distracted by thought processes and spaces out very frequently, too caught up in his own world to see what's going on around him, hear anything being said to him, or acknowledge potential threats. Often he talks to himself, but when he doesn't (or when he does so in a way that by some chance doesn't throw off conversation) his goggles further complicate things when it comes to social encounters. It's not always clear where he's looking and thus hard to tell for sure if he's paying attention or not if his head is turned towards you when he gets into this state.
His lusus, a corgi-like creature called Bropane, has his work cut out for him trying to distract Bunsen from his many distractions, but he manages through carefully timed barks and harmless nips at the back of the troll's legs. A herding animal by nature, Bropane takes his job of keeping Bunsen safely in line very seriously, which is a good thing because it's a full time job. There is a definite disconnect between Bunsen's interests and Bropane's insistence on keeping safe above all things, but the lusus hasn't failed entirely.
With his lusus' influence, Bunsen has grown up to be polite, friendly, and playful when not too preoccupied to see to social niceties. He enjoys jokes, the more ridiculous the better, and cheap food and rolling around on floors with Bropane. He likes to be involved in group activites, even if he isn't actually any good at them, like sports for example. He especially likes meeting people who don't mind humoring his curiosity, although anyone giving themselves up as a test subject might find that he accidentally forgets to think of them as people in the eager rush of experimentation and observation.
The Hemospectrum is a complicated thing and it's hard to pin down Bunsen's feelings on it entirely. Bropane has of course stressed its importance, because as a redblood he absolutely must keep it in mind for his own safety. Bunsen isn't sure he likes the boundaries it sets for him, the expectations that come with being at the bottom of the barrel, but he can acknowledge his lusus' points and tries to keep it in mind. He knows he'll have more opportunities in the world (and, of course, outside of it in space) if he keeps his head down and shows how useful he can be.
It's hard not to think of the what ifs though, when he can't ever seem to get his mind to quiet down.

Strengths and Flaws
Strengths:
Intelligent- Bunsen has a quick mind, a good memory, and an eagerness to learn. No one can deny that he's bright, bright enough to go somewhere in the technological advance of Chittentown if he can find the right in. For a redblood without much beetles to fall back on, that's an advantage that can't be let go of.
Adventurous- Bunsen is always willing to try new things and enjoys getting involved in projects. Even if he already has an inkling he won't be terrible good at something, he's up for it anyway just to see how it goes. This makes it easier for him to acclimate to being around new groups of people, as he isn't afraid of running into differences in ideologies.
Flaws:
Distracted- Sometimes there's just too much to think about and not enough attention left over for his surroundings. When Bunsen tunes out into his own mind, he loses sight of the people around him, stops registering what's being said to me, and of course can't even begin to realize when there's an imminent threat. It goes without saying that this negatively effects social encounters and safety.
Reckless- Caught up in the drive to see what will happen, Bunsen doesn't always think ahead to how those things will affect himself or others. Overindulgence in using his power near ruined his first home, throwing together chemicals often lead to dramatic and/or explosive reactions, people don't always appreciate being put in danger even if it is in the name of research.

Home and Lusus
Home:
Chittentown - where else would Bropane lead him but to the safest place for bright lowbloods to grow! Bunsen's original hive was small, built to squeeze into the area of the canyon between other very similar hives. It was pretty average, honestly, but it left them both craving more space to stretch out in. After an unfortunate accident early on left a good bit of it with burn damage that they couldn't quite afford to have completely fixed, Bunsen got it into his head that it couldn't be all that hard to just find more space.
And wouldn't you know it, there was a totally abandoned skyscraper right in the middle of town that no one seemed to be using. It took a while, to make sure the building really was abandoned and to convince Bropane to go along with it, but he's recently moved his things over and started making a few floors his own. One of the more open spaces on one floor is being turned into a lab as Bunsen slowly acquires equipment and materials to experiment with.
Lusus:
Bropane greatly resembles a corgi, although that's clearly not all there is to him. He stores liquid chemicals within himself and, when presented with a threat to fight off, he uses them to begin to emit flammable gases from his body. The idea is that if his bark and bite aren't doing the job, the smell and nausea of inhaling the gases will. And if that isn't enough, he only needs Bunsen to light things up (from afar, of course). Luckily for them both, his body is very very fire resistant. Unfortunately, Bunsen just has to deal with the chemical smell. He's gotten used to it over the sweeps though, and barely notices now!
If Bropane hadn't felt the call to raise a troll, he might have found some other animals to look after. He has a natural instinct to herd and manage others, and puts it to great use now trying to keep Bunsen in line. He's done his absolute best to stress the importance of sticking to the Hemospectrum, of being polite to highbloods, of being useful and not getting himself killed. Bunsen's preoccupation with burning things and seeking out new knowledge and reactions makes that...more difficult than the lusus would like.
This struggle between safety and experimentation does lead to some arguments here and there, and while Bropane would rather guide Bunsen towards making the right choices on his own, he does sometimes have to take charge. If he very much doesn't want Bunsen to go somewhere or do something but Bunsen won't stop moving towards it, he gets in front of the troll and barks and snaps at him until he backs away and keeps at it until he gets the idea. Drastic measures bring bites and physical pulling into the mix, but generally neither of them want it to get that far.
Even so, the two have a genuinely good relationship and generally do get along well and play together often.
